"Functionally - Not fully functional but it does make sound.
Below is a diagnostic test we performed, moving from left to right on the keyboard. When we state below that something works, we only mean so in its most basic sense, as in the knob/button did seem to make a change to the sound that it is supposed to make, though some keys didn't trigger quite as nicely as others and some buttons require harder pushes than others. Considering that it's not fully functional and the sounds aren't always controlled in a normal way, it's sometimes difficult to assess how well some of the functions work.

Mod wheel - works
Octave -1 - works
Octave 0 - works
Pitchbend amount - works, changes display 0-100 smoothly
Modulation amount - works, changes display 0-100 smoothly
KB mode - pressing activates red LED, can't tell
Hold - pressing activates red LED, can't tell
Arpeggiator - pressing activates red LED, can't tell, does change sound but not as it should
Glide - works, changes display 0-100 smoothly
Mono - works
Auto tune - 4 tuned
Tune knob - works
System Controller Section - all the buttons seem to work, though I am not familiar with programming this synth. I could change patch programs, and I think I managed to save programs and access a few other options, but I'm not sure how it's supposed to normally work so I can't say much else on it.

Foot pedal section: not sure
Foot pedals amount 1- knob works, changes display 0-100 smoothly
foot pedals amount 2- knob works, changes display 0-100 smoothly
pitch, mod amount, filter, volume, osc 2 all turn on LEDs when pressed, but don't have a footpedal to test any of the functions in this section

Modulation section: works
Lfo modulation:
Rate (hz) - works, changes display 0-100, and rate LED changes accordingly
All buttons in this section work, each LFO waveshape correctly modulates the destination source as the waveshape normally would.
Voice modulation:
Osc3 - works, changes display 0-100
Filter contour - works, changes display 0-100
Contoured Osc 3 Amount & Invert - works
All destination buttons in this section appear to work and are modulated when pressed.

Oscillators section:
Osc 1
16', 8', 4', 2' - works
Sync 2 to 1- works
Pulse Width - n/a, can't turn the knob
Waveshape - square, saw, triangle - all work
Osc 2 - everything works
Osc 3
16', 8', 4', 2' - works
frequency - works, but could only get values from 0-97
pulse width - n/a
Waveshape - square, saw, triangle - all work
low - works
keyboard control - works

Mixer:
Osc1 Level - n/a, can't turn the knob, but Osc1 is heard and I assume it works
Osc2 Level, Osc3 Level & Noise - works, changes display 0-100 smoothly

Voltage Controlled Filter: works
KB track 1/3 and 2/3 - works
Cutoff - works, changes display 0-100 smoothly
Emphasis - works, changes display 0-100 smoothly
Contour Amount - works, changes display 0-100 smoothly
A/D/S/R - works, changes display 0-100 smoothly

Voltage Controlled Amplifier:
The ADSR knobs all respond 0-100, and the return to zero, unconditional contour, keyboard follow and release all can be pressed and turned on. The VCA seems to be working, but all the sounds drone regardless of what the VCA section is set to, so it would have to say it's only partially working and has some issues.

Outputs - master, programmable and headphone outputs knobs all work

Keys: 48 keys triggered. They are, moving from left to right on the keyboard:
C1, C#1, D1, D#1, E1, G1, G#1, A1, A#1, B#1, C2, C#2, D2, D#2, E2, F2, G2, G#2, A2, B2, C3, D3, D#3, E3, F3, F#3, G3, G#3, A3, B3, C4, D4, D#4, E4, F#4, G#4, A#4, B4, C#5, D#5, E5, F#5, G5, G#5, A5, A#5, B5, C6

Only two jacks were tested - headphones and hi-level audio output, unbalanced, and both work.

There is no midi.

With all that said, you can still get some beautiful pad sounds out of this, and certainly lots of strange noise sounds as well.
For most of the patches, the sound seems to be constantly on drone, and the Oscillators aren't always in tune with each other so it can sound quite dissonant at times depending on the programming/patch you select. If you spend some time programming it though you can get some usable and pleasant sounds out of it as well."

I wonder how many copies of the magazine sold. I'd buy a couple.

Formanth or Formant? The synth is the Helmtronic Challenger. According to 7ate9 in the comments of this prior post, "Helmtronic (Hans-Joachim Helmstedt who wrote the second Elektor Formant "Pro" book)" See that post for more details and comments. I disabled comments here to keep discussion in that post for now.

VINTAGE ANALOG KORG 770 SYNTH

via this auction

"Korg 770 analog synth. It is a dual osc synth with a pretty amazing filter. I love running vocals, guitars, drums through the filter... The envelopes are fast and snappy... killer for basses and leads. The ring modulator is worth the money alone with two settings that are totally variable. The pitch on this baby is ultra stable... no drift. All the keys trigger great... no double triggers here. "

Rhizome Sequencer System @ Musikmesse 2010 (based on a PC)

"Impressions from the new Rhozome synth/sequencer - in fact it is a dual core computer with step sequencer up to 64 patterns, plugins (comes with a lot of plugins like Minimonsta and Ohmforce filters, so you may start with it immediately), allows other stuff, since it is XP E (for embedded) as OS, 18kilos, dynamic pads, and freely assignable to unlimited real time track length. there's still room for more, so do not expect it to be the final specs, but that's what was shown. a very nice piano roll real time edit. that allows to "draw" notes with the endless encoders that are also push buttons and finally nice ppl. - you can easily move start / end point of loops in the grid and more. plus the classic chase light sequencing stuff. by sequencer.de synth database."

"This is the cover of a demonstration LP, for the AKS Synthi synthesizer, made in the early 70's- it has a metallic foil cover, and features tracks by the legendary Delia Derbyshire, and other members of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop: including incedental music from Doctor Who, etc.It took me years to realise that the name of the synth was a pun on the name 'Cynthia"!!"
