The Moon Modular M551 MIDI to CV Interface

YouTube ploaded by moonmodular on Jun 24, 2011

"The M 551 is a module, which transforms an attached Midi signal into a couple of analogue control voltages. Thereby modular synthesizers can be integrated into a Midi-network and controlled by Midi-master-keyboards or Midi-hardware- or software-sequencers/DAWs.

The M 551 derives the following six control voltages from the fed Midi-messages:
- Keyboard CV (from Midi-note-number) Depending on the 'Priority' switch, the lowest, highest or last received note-on message is getting transformed. Voltage range: 0-10,53 V
- Gate (from the current Midi note-on/note-off commands)
- Velocity (transforms the key velocity [note-on velocity] of the current note-on message) Voltage range: 0-10 V
- Mod. Wheel (derives a control voltage from Midi-modula- tion messages [Controller 1]. Voltage range: 0-10 V
- Pitch Wheel (control voltage from the Midi pitch bend commands, bipolar) Voltage range: ±5 V (If "Add Bend CV" is active, a pitch bend voltage of ±0,5 V is added internally to the keyboard control voltage).
- Controller (transforms a selectable Midi controller into a control voltage [0-10 V])
Available are: - After touch - Breath controller (CC 2) - Foot pedal (CC 4) - Sustain pedal (CC 64) - Panorama (CC 10) - Main volume (CC 7), - the unspecified parameters CC 20, CC 21, CC 22.

The functions of the three toggle switches are:
- Add Bend CV
In 'on'-position the Midi Pitch bend voltage (attenuated to ±0.5 V) is added internally to the keyboard voltage to ease pitchbending the oscillator
- Priority
Keyboard control voltage/gate signal/velocity voltage are derived from the hightes/lowest/last received note-on message
- Keyboard Mode
Retrig triggers a new keyboard control voltage/gate signal combination at any struck key
Legato starts a new event not before all keys are released

To select the Midi-Channel: Dial the rotary switch to the„Channel Select" position and initiate a MIDI-channel message (e. g. strike a note on a keyboard); the module sets itself to the most recently received MIDI channel (this setting is saved even if the unit is switched off).

"...here's a taster for tommorow of the X Series prototypes that are currently away in production! while I have them- I thought I'd build a demo system of this stuff! Featuring the X-Series Dual SV Filter, the X-Series Dual EGs, the X-Series Audio Mixer and two X- Series Oscillators- one (!) being used for audio- the other for complex triggering........and A Korg SQ-10 for good measure. Yes - it is one filter module you are listening to- and one audio oscillator! Looking forward to a full demo tommorow!"

Sending iPad thru a Korg monotron filter/mod With space echo

YouTube Uploaded by therealrobtheviking on Jun 25, 2011

"iPad -- monotron -- space echo

Messing with the korg filters and LFO settings. Running a beat playing in iTunes on the iPad into the aux input of the monotron, and then out to the space echo.
Pretty cool toy, this thing is tiny! Its basically a micro pocket synthesizer with a ribbon keyboard, a real ms-20 filter, and a basic LFO, and an aux input so you can filter and modulate external audio sources through it's classic filter design.
It's a bit noisy but you can actually get some thick bass tones and wild self oscillating tones with the peak (resonance) and cutoff knobs.
The LFO seems to be limited to forward sawtooth wave form.

Sorry for the crap iPhone audio quality!!"

Quasimidi Polymorph Classic Rack Synth

via this auction

"A rare and sought after instrument. The descendant of the Quasimidi Rave-o-lution 309, the Polymorph was Quasimidi's final and most ambitious synth. Powerful, subtle, and deep. In addition to Quasimidi's powerful synth engine, it is the step sequencer that really sets this instrument apart. The step sequencer has 16 steps and 4 lines, 8 variations, and many sophisticated features that make this synth a truly inspirational resource for Techno and Trance, as well as "Berlin School" styles of electronic music. A favorite of Orbital and Jean-Michel Jarre. Klaus Schulze still makes extensive use of his famous "wall" that features seven Polymorphs, both in the studio and on stage."

Cwejman DMF-2 Dual Mode/Slope Filter

via this auction
"Overview:
The DMF-2 module consists of two identical filters with two modes: lowpass and a quasi-bandpass which are available simultaneously at separate outputs. Each filter works selectively with different filter slopes and allows overdriven sound by saturation. By lots of in- and output combinations the module can be used as two independent filters or as a parallel dual filter.

Technical details:
Each filter features resonance up to self-oscillation. The lowpass is switchable between the classic 24dB and a 36dB slope, the bandpass is a combination of 6dB highpass and 24dB lowpass. The volume control sets the audio level at the input up to saturation which grade is shown by LEDs. Additionally to the each filter´s separate sockets there are in- and outputs which address both filters simulaneously or carry thir audio signal.

Inputs and outputs:
Per filter there are two CV inputs for modulation of cutoff frequency (one with attenuator) and one for resonance, then an adjustable audio input and separate outputs for low- and highpass. There is a common CV input which controls both filter´s cutoff frequencies and a common adjustable audio input. Likewise there are combi-outputs for the audio signal of the low- and bandpasses.

Measures and weight:
Module for 3RU system / width 14HP / depth incl. knobs about 40mm / power consumption: 40mA / weight: 270g"
