Korg Radias & Yamaha MU90r - "And In My Dream..." - By Andy Barrow

YouTube Published on Apr 14, 2012 by MrRidgebackman

"Hi All,

A piece of music featuring the Korg Radias and the Yamaha MU90r Synth Module. Best listened to under headphones.

The Korg Radias - A synth I am really starting to enjoy to use. I created a couple of Pad Sounds on the Radias and started Menu Diving. Tweaking the 3 EG's and other features.

The Yamaha MU90r was used for the Choir sound. Its one of many sounds that the MU90r fairs well in for an old style XG Tone Generator. Finally get to use this synth again after so many years

The music was recorded live and layered into Logic Pro Only 3 Tracks were used. Keeping things simple.

I was going to use the Voyager XL on this track, but Sadly the Voyager XL has developed serious Problems and needs to spend some time on the Bench - Or back to the US."

Minitaur Waves & Filter.mov

"Listening test of the pure waveforms and low pass filter; with an oscilloscope for hear and see. Boring? Maybe, (for a delicious music instrument like the Moog Minitaur) but I was very very curious to see and hear the main analog functions of this amazing wild beast!!!
So, proceed at your own risk... :-)"

"A closer view on the Moog Minitaur: super fast envelope(s), beefy two waves two oscillators, killer low pass filter with self oscillating resonance, HUGE sound in a small footprint. I love it."

"my first attempt at building a hardware synth (and soldering PCBs in general)

so much joy when when I could finally make music, after hours of inhaling fumes and watching youtube videos (making sure I wasn't going to kill myself)

now i feel a sudden urge to take apart everything i own!

thanks to Peter Kirn (for making hard hacking a little bit more accessible) and my parents (for buying me the components)"

cryptography (study I)

cryptography (study I) from macumbista on Vimeo.

"The "Cryptography Studies" examine the use of simple analog implementations of pseudo-random number generators, akin to those used in encryption algorithms, for the chaotic production of sound patterns. One of the simplest pseudo-random number generators is a three-stage shift register with a non-linear feedback loop, such as that found in Rob Hordijk's "Benjolin" instrument design.

This one was built over Easter weekend 2012 as a starting point for further research on the topic. I have focused on the chaotic zones which occur when new parameters have been set by the controls or feedback patching, before the machine settles into a steady state and predictable pattern.

You can read my extended musings on the relationship of cryptography and music here:
