"Very rare yamaha ss 30 vintage string synth , never released in the US. Probably one of the lushest sounding string synths around. It uses divide down for its tone generation but there are two tones for each note so you can detune one against the other for a wide sound. Add in the ensemble and vibrato and it all adds up to some very lush sounds..."

PPG Wavegenerator, first test of upcoming voice-per-channel MIDI mode

Published on Oct 15, 2012 by Geert Bevin

"I've been helping Wolfgang Palm with adding a new feature to PPG Wavegenerator that allows per-note expression over MIDI by implementing a voice-per-channel MIDI mode. This is a quick test of the first fully working version he sent me today. It's short, but I hope it shows the possibilities of this feature with new electronic instruments like the Eigenharp.

Note that this demo is only using one single sound that has independent expression in three axis for each individual note.

I'm using a modified version of the standard 'Jigsaw Lead' patch that has up-down movement mapped to per-note filter cutoff (Y movement in PPG), pressure (X movement in PPG) to note volume and left-right movement to per-note pitch with a 5 semitone interval.

More information about this excellent iPad synth here:

This new feature is probably going to be available as an additional in-app purchase."

"Loops" - on Roland SH-2000

Published on Oct 15, 2012 by organfairy

"This is a melody that was composed by Belgian trio Telex in the early 1980's. But it was only recently I heard it for the first time when I got the "Belgium, one point" CD box.

"Loops" is a slow and somewhat sad song about everything in our lives seems to repeat itself - "Seems like yesterday reappear tomorrow" - and there are a lot of strange little details going on in the arrangement. So it was not a straight away task to learn how to play it.

I play the melody on the old Roland SH-2000 synthesizer. I use Roland Rhythm 77 for the rhythm (obviously), and Roland JX-8P synthesizer and Technics SX-C600, Elka EP-8, and Yamaha HE-8 organs for the rest."
