Adventures with the Roland JX-3P & Dtroncis DT-200

Published on Nov 23, 2012 by stuthomson

"A demo of my patches on the Roland JX-3P analog synthesizer. This was my first synthesizer (awww). I bought it as a floor demo at EU Wurlitzer in Boston in 1983 for $1,100 (saved up for it). I have added an additional chorus effect with an Alesis Nanoverb. The 3P's chorus is a bit cheezy but I have it on anyway. This is not a music recital."

"A little jam using only the OP-1. If you listen on laptop speakers you'll loose some nice bass at 1.51."

Intellijel Metropolis Sequencer Demo

metropolis demo 2
Published on Nov 23, 2012 by intellijel
"more features of upcoming metropolis sequencer demonstrated including:
quantizer scale selection
root note
skip stage (blinking leds via double click)
current step note display
tb-303 style slide

This is a proto module (hence some of the crazy wires and lack of panel). Code is %95 done and this is set to be released very soon."

soundmachines Launches New Website - Eurorack Modules

http://www.sound-machines.it

Current eurorack modules (click through each link for additional details):

"RB1robotto is a voltage controlled singer, an irresistible source of pitched vowels, and much more. The product, the first in our line, was born as a sunday afternoon project, by putting together our modular, ad arduino board and a speech chip. The blending of the ‘voice’ with the noises, tones, and buzz from the modular was so good that we built a company around that.

Now, the production unit is real. Lush steel panel with thick silkscreened prints and deep red tones. You control the ‘voice’ of the robotto with your well known CV sources. Pitch and Gate are the usual dishes, accompanied by vowel and consonant control. Each of those are playable also by hand, and there is a manual gate too, ORed with the jack input.

But there is more.

Flip the board, before tightening the screws, and you can see a six pin connector that could open the product to many other uses. We chose to play with the Arduino platform and in the end we would like YOU to play with it too. Just buy a 5 bucks usb/serial adapter and download the Arduino 1.0 IDE. The platform is based on the soundgin/babblebot ic, a well known speech and sound synthesis platform. The RB1 is a little toy to play with waveforms, modulations, other than vowels and consonants. Up to three complex oscillators with many inter-mod capabilities. The datasheet is downloadable!"

RC1radiostar

"Straight Connectivity between your device (Android or iOS) and your modular, without passing through a PC at all. 16 CV outputs (8 0-5V, 8 0-10V) and 8 GATE output (selectable to 5V or 10V) and sync facilities to connect with your sequencers. The module is accompanied by applications to start using it, either Android and iOS and soon the protocol (OSC based) will be made public..."

LS1lightstrip

"The LS1 is a capacitive technology slider that will generate CV and GATE signals along with the movement of your finger on its surface..."

LP1lightplane

"LP1lightplane is an expanded, bi-dimensional LS1 lightstrip. The same functions are exposed on either axis for double the fun!"

Ruin Electronics ATOM mini modular synthesizer

Video at the auction and previously posted here.

"This is the Ruin Electronics ATOM Mini Mdoular Synthesizer. This is a one of a kind instrument. It was professionally built and designed by Ruin. The Case is white and black acrylic hand built for the ATOM with an aluminum faceplate. The ATOM is new; no previous owners.

The ATOM is a 100% Analog synthesizer. The ATOM has 5 modules with patching via 4mm banana cables. The modules are Two Voltage Controlled Oscillators with triangle and square waveforms, a Voltage Controlled Amplifier, Voltage Controlled Lowpass Filter, and a Three input mixer. There are also 3 1/4" to 4mm banana converter jacks so you can interface with external gear. The ATOM can create drones and noises easily, but can also completely destroy external audio such as from an MP3 player or Guitar pedals, makign it a versatile effect unit. The unit is powered from a 12v adapter.
Space sounds, crackles, hums, percussion, alien speech, warbles, zaps, clangs, bangs, basslines, sequencer runs, rhythms. This is a great unit for performance, sampling, or just plain old fun!

The units approximate measurements are:
8.25" width x 2.75" depth x 4.5" height

The unit features:
2x Square/Triangle waveform VCOs (Voltage Controlled Oscillators) with individual tuning per oscillator. The oscillators go from subsonic (LFO speeds) to ultrasonic with a twist of the control. Each oscillator has a frequency control and an amount control. The jacks are Tri out, Sqr out, and CV in.
VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier) The VCA is used to create tremelo and ring mod type effects, but can also be fed an envelope or other signals from external gear to operate. There are input levels for CV and audio, and output gain. Jacks are Audio in, CV in, and Audio out.
Lowpass VCF (Voltage Controlled Filter). This filter is a strange beast, a combination of Vactrols (smooth natural response) and CMOS (typically a digital logic IC but coerced into being an analog device). The VCFs have a Frequency and Resonance control and a switch for Lowpass/Bandpass response.
3 Input Mixer The mixer is used to sum signals together or to amplify external signals. The mixer has quite a bit of gain and can clip when fed a hot enough signal, such as that from an effect pedal. 3 Input jacks and an output. Each input has a level control and the output has a master level.
3 1/4" to 4mm Banana converters used for interfacing external gear to the ATOM.
12v Adapter input."

New Doepfer A-190-8 & A-180

"The A-190-8 is a MIDI/USB to Sync interface.
Basically this module divides the incoming MIDI or USB clock messages into smaller steps. You could see it as a modular version of the MSY2 MIDI-to-SYNC Converter that was announced in December last year, but with multiple simultaneous outputs and added USB support."

"For early in 2013 also a slim version of the A-180 Multiples module is planned. This will be called A-180-2 and will be half the size of a regular A-180."
