Korg Volca Sample + MS-20 mini (quick test)

Published on Feb 28, 2015 Genshi Media Group

"Almost not worth posting to be honest... this is simply a quick rough test of the Korg Volca Sample (using all original samples that I created) synced to the Korg SQ-1 which was sequencing the MS-20 mini. All recorded live and in real-time..."

Moog Sonic Six Analog Synthesizer (SN 1364) Vintage 1973 Keyboard Synth

"- Most functions of the synthesizer work, but it needs servicing and calibration to the specifications in the included service manual.

- The 4 octave keyboard has failed completely and does not work, it triggers the loudness contour (envelope generator), but does not track any pitch regardless of what key is pressed.

(I have read that this is a common problem, and that the keyboard bus bar contacts have failed and or a failure of a dual FET, N channel J-FET, NF510 )

- It doesn't have the original knobs, I have installed suitable replacements. Moog knobs are available from Moog Music USA.

The Sonic Six features
2 VCOs (Osc A / Osc B) each with saw, triangle and pulse waveforms (with manually adjustable pulse width)
1 VCF
1 VCA
1 ENV
2 LFOs each with four waveforms (sawtooth, ramp, triangle and square)
2 Mixers
Pink & white noise sources
Ring modulator for internal and external signals
Portamento,
Horizontally mounted pitch-bender wheel
EXT audio-in, CV-in for OSC, VCF and VCA
4-octave keyboard, mono - or duophonic
Keyboard tracking from 0% to 100%, allowing for micro-tonal steps
S-trigger multi-pin Cinch-Jones connection for Gate and CV control or a MIDI to CV converter
Built-in speaker
Portable eye catching synthesizer design in a suitcase
The Sonic Six has the classic Moog diode ladder filter.

Few units were made, so it has high collectability value.

The Moog Sonic Six is a very special, unique instrument, it is an analog monster, capable of many spectacular, weird sounds and often out of this world, self-generating rhythms and soundscapes, (even without the keyboard working!)

Included is:

- printed copy of the service manual
- printed copy of operations manual
- 12 x 18 inch photocopy enlargements of the 10 schematic diagrams from the service manual
- a CD ROM of the service manual
- the original grey power cable"

Moog Prodigy Vintage Synthesizer SN 9358 with Original Warrantee Card

via the seller: "I am the original owner and this unit is in excellent condition. It has never required servicing and is completely unmodified. I purchased this Moog Prodigy in 1980 from Naperville Music in the Chicago suburbs. The original Owner’s Manual, Technical Service Information manual and warranty card shown are included. I never noticed until just now but I think the music store guy wrote down the serial number as 9358 on the warranty card but the sticker on the back looks like 3358 to me (I doubt they sold anywhere close to 10,000 of these!). I have owned probably a dozen keyboards/organs/synthesizers over the years but nothing I have ever touched creates the unbelievably wide range of sounds that this little guy does. I am with some reluctance letting this friend of 34 years go to a better home.

I remember being told that the circuitry of this synthesizer was the same as the Taurus pedals used by Geddy Lee of Rush. While I cannot confirm this, I will say that I have generated to my satisfaction all the sounds on Rush albums from this unit..."

BASS PEDALS Synth

Anyone know the brand of this one?

" This set of Pedals is really fun and unique! Customized and moded in a way that could open up a wide range of possibilities for the right musician. A list of the generous assortment of features includes:
Onboard Stereo Speakers (including a volume control with decent room volume for “unplugged” type practicing. For example: Would stand up to the volume of acoustic guitars strumming loudly, with singing).
Separate Left and Right 1/4” Line Outputs
Headphone Jack (1/8”)
Sustain Jack (for hooking up a Sustain Pedal). Note: This jack can also be routed as a start/stop for the Accompaniment Section*
Midi In and Out Jacks (selectable, Channels 1-16)
128 General Midi Onboard Sounds

Tone Groups:(8 tones in each)
• Pianos
• Chromatic Percussion
• Organs
• Guitars
• Bass
• Strings/Orchestra
• Ensemble
• Brass
• Reeds
• Pipe
• Synth-Lead
• Synth-Pad
• Synth-SFX
• Ethnic
• Perc
• SFX
10 Onboard Effects
3 Reverbs
Chorus
Tremolo
Phase Shifter
Organ SP
Enhancer
Flanger
EQ Loudness
Layer / Split Function (32 voices, 16 part multitimbral)
Internal Transpose (up or down 6 steps)...
… and in addition ... an “external” 2 Octave Jump Switch (flip the switch and it takes the range of the Pedals up two octaves, or back down two octaves if you switch it back).
Tuning (for fine tuning)
*Accompaniment and Rhythm Sections:
These sections can output on *separate midi channels*, so you can even run the drums and backing tracks to high quality outboard samplers etc..
Also, if you hit a note while the accompaniment is set to play a chord... you can switch the mode button while it's playing and then you can use any of the sounds to solo over the accompaniment. And the accompaniment works such that if you hit one note, and it's a Major chord. Hit two notes and it's Minor. Hit three, it's a 7th. Hit four, it's a Minor 7th. There is a separate volume adjustment for the accompaniment section to boot. And if that wasn't enough,... whatever you are playing over the accompaniment on the Pedals is also going out of the midi output. Note: I have noticed that the midi output sends volume information that is kind of on the low side,.. so if you use a midi sound source, you will want to turn it up a bit (or switch off velocity sensitivity). This only applies to what you play on the Pedals themselves (not the Rhythm and Accompaniment sections - they output on separate midi channels, and at full volume).
Onboard Drum Rhythms (128 patterns with full Tempo Control)
Song Memory - 1 Song, real-time recording, up to 1,300 notes.
4 Set Up Memories - you can memorize a few of your special setups, and recall them later (things like layers, effect choice etc).
128 Pedal Playable Backing Track Phrases (various styles - these sound real nice).
This is a very solid piece of equipment with a black speaker type carpet covering and a carry handle on the side. A couple of additional details: You may see one speaker to the left on top... the other is mounted inside the pedal case on the right side. That is why you see a slot in the carpeted border near the sound source on the right side– to let the sound through.
These pedals are not made to be velocity sensitive. I personally do not find that useful when it comes to Pedals. A modification is possible to bring that function about, but it would add about $100 to the price. There are a few usable bass sounds in the module... one of which is a fairly decent sounding upright bass patch. These can be layered as well, so there are a lot of possibilities.
Another cool thing worth mentioning is that the pedal shafts themselves are the same type and shape as those used in the infamous Moog Taurus Pedals. They have a nice classic look to them."
