FUGUE MACHINE | Multi-Playhead Sequencer for iPad

FUGUE MACHINE | Multi-Playhead Sequencer for iPad (Bach Melody)

iTunes: Fugue Machine | multi-playhead sequencer - Alexandernaut

"BACH IN A BOX.

FUGUE MACHINE is a tool inspired by composition techniques used in Baroque music and Serialism — e.g. Bach’s canons and fugues, and Schoenberg’s twelve-tone technique. The idea was to design a tool to manipulate a melody’s speed, direction, and pitch, as well as play multiple variations of the melody simultaneously.

As it turned out, the best implementation for this was to reimagine one of the most fundamental building blocks of all music sequencers: the piano roll.

THE PIANO ROLL, REIMAGINED.

FUGUE MACHINE is the world’s first multi-playhead piano roll. Create a musical sequence and play it back with up to four playheads at once — each at various speeds, directions, and pitches. You see the playheads dance over the music sequence, and hear the complex patterns that emerge.

It’s mesmerizing."

Dave Smith Instruments Poly Evolver Keyboard: Ethereal Pad

Published on Oct 8, 2015 Sacred Synthesis

"This improvisation is so minimalistic that it should be considered only a sound demonstration, which was my intention. Another all-Evolver improvisation - a simple dreamy piece using parallel fifths and an occasional meandering melody.

The Poly Evolver Keyboard excels at producing this sort of breathy ethereal pad, but finding just the right digital wave shape among the 96 choices is time-consuming. Each one reacts differently to even subtle changes in the filter setting and keyboard range, so that much experimentation is required. This particular sound is wonderful to a point, but then - open wide the filter or play in the upper end of the keyboard and the digital aliasing goes berserk, making it musically un-useable. You can hear the aliasing at certain points in this piece.

Sound design is a painstaking process, but it does have its rewards.

Roland Juno-60 vs. Juno-106 Vintage Analog Synthesizer

"(c) 2015 vintage synthesizer demo by RetroSound

Roland Juno-60 (1982) vs. Roland Juno-106 (1984) Analog Synthesizer with identical sound programs.

This video shows the different sound character. The Juno-60 sounds more raw like the JP-8 and the chorus is deeper.
The Juno-106 sounds more like the JX-8P but with more bass fundament and the chorus is not so deep.
both are great synths and I love both a lot."

Modular Drums

Published on Oct 7, 2015 Sean Pendleton

"Playing with some simple modular drum patches.

Bass drum is the Mankato filter self oscillating and swept by an AR, then going into a CGS tube VCA.

Snare is the the noise form the TH super controller, Swept by an AR, then into a wasp filter clone, and into the CGS tube VCA

Hihats are 2 vcos into a ring modulator and then into a VCA.

Other drumish sound is a Wogglebug Ringmod out going into a vca. Always remember to screw your Wogglebug panel in before using.

Drone at the start is the Orgone Accumulator

Bass is an XR VCO triangle going into a MFOS Wave Freaker + a second XRVCO Saw, and then into the MA Discrete SVVCF

Leadish thing is the TTSH"

Demora: quasi-tuned short delays

Published on Oct 7, 2015 wellurban

"Using very short delay times and high feedback, you can get pluck-like sounds out of Demora by just feeding a short envelope into the audio input. However, without reprogramming, the Time CV input is far from 1v/o, and at audio-rate delay times the CV is so sensitive that the resulting pitch is unstable.

Nevertheless, you can get vaguely musical results by manually tuning the CV input, and the Width effect adds extra timbral interest. Also, running a second, slower envelope into the Feedback CV means that you can control the degree of "ringing", for short or sustained plucks."
