"Analogue Solutions spreads synthBlocks series wings with tiny Treadstone true analogue mono synth

KINGSWINFORD, UK: hot on the heels of its inaugural Mr Hyde and Dr Strangelove so-called synthBlocks (launched late last year to widespread critical acclaim), British boutique electronic instruments innovator Analogue Solutions is proud to widen the self-explanatory series’ scope with Treadstone — taking the same smart, small, and affordable desktop design-driven analogue attributes of its similarly superior-sounding signal-processing siblings and applying them to a true analogue mono synth that packs a lot of (patchable) punch into a perfectly-matched, portable package — as of January 19…

Treadstone takes its intriguing name from a fictional highly-classified, heavily-guarded secret program that features in the series of books based on a fictional spy and associated feature films; it is shut down as the thrilling plot thickens, alas. As the latest addition to Analogue Solutions’ synthBlocks series — squarely aimed at laptop and audio plug-ins-focused digital musicians wishing to apply analogue, hands-on hardware sound-sculpting creativity to their sometimes sterile-sounding computer-based creations, the tiny Treadstone true analogue mono synth is far from fictional, however; hearing is believing, but it would, without question, make for a superior-sounding, space-saving desktop addition to any discerning film composer’s creative studio space — or anyone else’s, for that matter!

More meaningfully, maybe, Treadstone treads far from carefully, but boldly goes where few analogue synthesizers dare to win... with an all-analogue audio path and modulation circuits based on superior-sounding designs dating back to the mid-Seventies, so no CPU (Central Processing Unit) stabilised and quantised circuits, no DCOs (Digitally-Controlled Oscillators), and no digital EGs (Envelope Generators), as are often found on other ‘all-analogue’ affairs. Analogue as in really analogue — aside from the MIDI-to-CV circuit (which, by its very nature, must include a digital element) — in other words.

Moog DFAM! VCO, FM, & Hard Sync...

Published on Jan 18, 2018 JAkoGreyshire

"Moog DFAM! Drummer from another Mother. This video demonstrates the VCO section of the DFAM. The oscillators are tuned to G and D.

Korg SQ-1 is sequencing pitch data to VCO 1 and 2 and supplying the gates that are triggering a Make Noise Contour and another Contour section on the Make Noise 0-Coast.. These ADSRs are controlling VCAs which the VCOs are patched into. You can see the ADSR shapes on the Mordax Data Scope at full screen...not really important here..

This is to show a small example of the VCO section and how it may be used without the rest of the DFAM..

Uh oh!! There is one patch cable in there that is not doing anything! Can you find it? Where's the dummy patch cable?!?!"

The MUSE for Minimoog

"MUSE turns the new Minimoog Reissue into the best synthesizer ever!

MUSE Features ENG
The MUSE - what´s that?
The MUSE (Minimoog´s Ultimate System Extension) is a new plag&play interface for the Minimoog Reissue. The MUSE solves the conceptual restrictions of the synthesizer (imprecise pitch-bend, no MIDI connection of modulation-wheel or decay and glide switches, pitch-wheel issues caused by the current firmware, etc.) and offers new and helpful functions. MUSE is the invisible workhorse for the live and studio performance. The MUSE definitely turns the Minimoog Reissue into the best synthesizer ever.

Functions for the (live) performance
The pitch wheel has a clear center position now - no more detuning at the center point
The pitch wheel range can be set from 0 to 12 precise semi tones
The intensity of the modulation wheel can be reduced to 25% - for a sensitive control of the modulation signal
The after-touch can control the amount of modulation
An additional "fingered glide" mode automatically activates the portamento effect (= Autoglide)
All functions can be changed quickly via the keyboard and saved permanently
Functions for the MIDI studio
The modulation wheel sends and receives MIDI controller data
MIDI-after-touch can control the strength of the modulation
Both switches - Glide and Decay - send and receive MIDI data
MUSE also smooth out external MIDI-pitch-bend data. Incoming MIDI-bending sounds as smooth as it was played directly on the keyboard
The MIDI pitch bend bug of the Moog firmware V1.8 is solved by MUSE
At "Local off" all left hand controllers are separated by the internal sound generator and affect the MIDI-out only (especially the pitch-wheel!)"
