Make Noise tELHARMONIC 1/5: Overview; Setting Up (LMS EE)

Published on May 25, 2018 Learning Modular

"The Make Noise tELHARMONIC includes three different synthesis algorithms – additive, noise, and phase modulation – with a 'music theory' control section that can intelligently arrange the three internal voices into a variety of detunings and triads.

This movie provides an overview of the module, including advice on initializing it to give you a stable platform from which to explore it. The movie breaks down like this:

0:00 overview
0:45 blind exploration
1:24 initial set-up: sound generation section
2:13 initial set-up: Music Theory section
3:39 tuning to a reference
4:19 exploring the sound generation side

The remaining movies explore each of its three synthesis algorithms in detail, as well as the Music Theory section. It is available to my Patreon supporters as well as those who have access to my Eurorack Expansion course on LearningModular.com:

"SN Voice MOTM synth module built on the SmS SN voice pcb that is no longer available. Built in plexi and matching the available MOTM panel. Got 2 of these boards in a group buy and decided to build one and here it is. Not a cheap build and is quite nice. is configured for either the pulse or the noise. i am going to make it output either pulse or pulse and noise."

Analog Presets on a Cathedral Pipe Organ - Vox Humana

Brian Comnes sent in these images of a cathedral pipe organ's presets (more pics below). I noticed on the far right what looks like "Voix Humana". Those of you familiar with classic preset patches should recognize "Vox Humana" as one of the classic patches on the preset version of the Moog Polymoog. The patch was famously used by Gary Numan. The "Voix Humana" got me wondering if the Polymoog patch may have been based on a common organ patch. I did some searching on YouTube and found the video below. What do you all think?

"It's engraved at the top and rear (check pictures) I believe it belonged to a school in SE London! John Roan School as this is sprayed on the back and etched into the front of the unit. Must of been a cool music class!"

Critter & Guitari - Moogfest 2018

Published on May 25, 2018 Critter & Guitari

"We ventured down to Durham, NC for Moog's annual celebration of music, conversation, and musical devices! Here's a recap of our booth scene in the Modular Marketplace.

We brought along a prototype of the forthcoming ONDA! A fully programmable instrument, kind of like the Organelle but a little different... It has multi-colored light-up keys, a built-in speaker and microphone, and battery power for easy use on the go.

All the visuals at our booth were made with the ETC. All sounds made in this video were made at Moogfest, using the ONDA, Organelle, Kaleidoloop and rain.

Thanks for inviting us, Moog! See y'all next time!"
