I've been waiting for Retrosound's next video to share the following sent my way via Soviet Space Child. I'm not on Instagram myself, so I missed it. The cover above "Steppin' Out" is just a nice coincidence. :)

The Story behind RetroSound: Most of you know my synthesizers, but very little about the person behind them, today there are some personal sentences from me. I grew up in the former GDR. Until I was 18 years old, I only knew synthesizers from the western tv. As teenager, I heard the music of Depeche Mode, Human League, Yazoo, Pink Floyd and Genesis. But the soundscapes of Vangelis and Jean-Michel Jarre also found their way into my ear. The first synthesizer sounds I probably perceived while secretly listening to the ELO album from my dad. As kid and teenager, I always dream of a bunch of synthesizers like my musical heroes did. There were no pictures of Playboy on my wall, like some of my age, but badly copied photographs of synths from western tv. I knew that it would only be a dream, because there was no legal way to leave the GDR. And I did not want to leave her either. Everything changed in 1989 and what nobody could ever expect became reality. Suddenly the objects of desire moved within range, but the necessary money was missing. It was not until 1998 that I bought my first synthesizer from my long and hard saved money. It was the Clavia Nord Modular. I plunged madly on the device and programmed sounds day and night. Then Clavia became aware of me in Sweden and so one thing came to another. From then on, countless of my sounds were found among the Nord Modular / Micro Modular factory sounds. That motivated me to do more. Then the Roland Juno-60 came into the house, my dream synth of the 80s and still my favorite. I had not much money, so I bought old synthesizers and restored them. Well at some point I had realized my childhood dream yet. Today I work as a freelance sound designer for UVI. I compose soundscapes for documentary films and advise musicians all over the world. And maybe some of you know my RetroSound Vintage Synthesizer Channel on YouTube. Since 2007 with demo tracks, sounds. What happened exactly 30 years ago has taken my whole life in a completely different direction. I'm very happy about that. 🙌 . #mauerfall #30jahremauerfall #neunternovember #DDR #wiedervereinigung #retrosound #synth #synthesizer #GDR #germany #1989 #mauerfall30

Introducing the ADDAC105 4 Voice Cluster - First Audio Preview

Published on Nov 20, 2019 ADDAC System

"Following our ADDAC103 T-Networks this new module is inspired by it’s simplicity. This is a 4 voice Square Oscillator with VCA, FM switch and a slew decay for the incoming Trigger IN. All voices are then sent through a Multimode Filter.

Each voice has it’s own VCA input where any input is accepted (Trigger, Gate, CV) The [DECAY] controls the slew decay applied to the incoming signal, if [DECAY] is fully anti-clockwise then it works as a Mute. The [FM ON] switches activate/deactivate the FM input coming from the previous voice: Voice 1 FM comes from voice 4, voice 2 FM comes from voice 1, and so on, so you can FM all of them in a FM loop.

All 4 voices are summed and sent through a filter with controls over [CUTOFF] with an Attenuverter for the CV input and [RESO- NANCE]. Three filter outputs are provided [LOWPASS], [BANDPASS] and [HIGHPASS]

The [EXTERNAL IN] input can be routed through a jumper on the back of the module allowing the incoming signal to go to:
1. the filter input for processing an external audio source.
2. all of the 4 voices Frequency control allowing for some experi- mental CV control over pitch of all 4 voices at the same time (due to the specificities of the circuit and to keep the module at a low price these inputs are not callibrated to 1v/octave).

This module will also be available as a full DIY kit.

I almost skipped posting this one due to the condition, but reader Joe Klaw spotted it and sent it in. You don't see these often. If you don't know what a Novachord is, see here for additional posts.

via the listing: "Cosmetic wise the Amps are in Excellent Shape. I have no way to test them.
On November 20, 2019 I add the following about the amplifiers ("It appears that one of the 4A7 tubes (or whatever the number is) is missing from one of the amplifiers, I will look around here to see if I can find it. For now consider it to be missing and bid accordingly."

The exterior of the galleys show rust as seen in pics. The Inside of the the galleys are much nicer. The underside of the galleys appear excellent. There has been no "leakage" of the electronics anywhere as far as I can see. The cabinet was "Antiqued" when I got it. Much of that on the top flat surfaces is gone and it is down to the raw wood, so refinishing would not be as difficult as when I first got it....

Top of the cabinet is rough, but it is all there though some of the thinner sections have come unglued I saved everything so it could be rebuilt, It came apart as I tried to lift the lid off to view the cabinet electronics. The base appears to be sound though the legs are showing come cracks at their longitudinal glue joints. One Foot is damaged as seen in the picture.

Both Jensen Speakers are there, but the cones are of course gone.

Black and White Keys all have good "action" and "ping" nicely. I did not try to operate any of the console levers.

It's all here, just ready for some serious TLC.

Labels that were on the backside of the top cabinet are rough.
I could not find the Plate with the serial number. I am guessing it is 260 because that number is stamped on the inside right side of the cabinet. I remember last time I moved it I took photos and had pics of the plate but that camera is long gone.

I have owned it about 20 years and bought it at a local estate auction."

Monsoon (uBurst+) Mutable Instruments Clouds Eurorack Synth Module (Off-White)

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

You can find a demo featuring Monsoon here.

"Monsoon is a Mutable Instruments Clouds redesign that allows for CV and slide potentiometer control of all four effects parameters. LEDs on each slider serve as a visual indicator of each parameter's respective CV input. The module is 12 HP.

This module is professionally built and extensively tested by an electronics engineer with over ten years of experience.

The panel on this module is manufactured by Magpie Modular, makers of some of the highest quality panels in Eurorack. It is off-white aluminum with a beautiful textured finish. The off-white panel looks particularly nice in a rack that has many silver paneled modules.

Includes factory Clouds/Monsoon firmware by default, but I can flash Parasite firmware by request.

The Monsoon comes with a one-year warranty, and ships promptly with a Eurorack power cable and some bonus treats included."

From the website:

What is Acoustic Modelling Synthesis?

Putting theory into practice is Technics' latest breakthrough in synthesis technology - Acoustic Modelling Synthesis. While retaining the much-coveted qualities of conventional PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) subtractive sound reproduction, Acoustic Modelling Synthesis combines PCM waveform drivers with custom DSP (Digital Signal Processing) Modelling resonators.

By first extensively analyzing the nature of acoustic sound, Acoustic Modelling Synthesis then digitizes the physical process recreating it. This technology ideally simulates the sound-emulating process of acoustic instruments.

Nearly all modelling parameters can be accessed in real-time by using various on-board controllers and key touch. Additionally, by manipulating the Realtime Creator / Controller along the X-Y axis, the user can control up to six parameter sets registered for each sound.

This flexibility allows the control, for example, of where you strike the surface of a drum or of the mouthpiece angle on a flute.
