Erica Syntrx vs EMS VSC3 The Putney (Part Two)

Allinaire

"Part 2 of the Comparison demos between the Erica Synths Syntrx and the EMS Synthi models (Synthi AKS and VCS3 - The Putney).
The video highlights some obvious differences between the two including the pin Matrix and controls. There is a simple square wave, pulse width, filter and reverb test then we get into some experimental 'Noisy' patches to compare the sound of the two. This is not a musical comparison but aims to compare Sound and Timbre of the two synths based on a few patches.
Decent headphones or speakers are recommended.
Part 1 looked at a comparison with the Synthi AKS - you can watch that here: [posted here]

Thanks to Djjondent for co-hosting the comparison. Check out his excellent blog here: https://djjondent.blogspot.com"

This one was spotted and sent in via gridsleep. Not sure if this is the same one, but you can find a video of one posted here, and a few pics of the first one in previous posts here. That one was owned by Dave, creator of The Packrat. It was featured in this comic.

"Housed inside an incredibly chunky wooden cabinet with inch-thick end caps, the perfectly-dubbed JX-3PG brings together a hard-to-find PG-200 controller and a standard JX-3P body. It's a perfect alternative to using two separate units connected with a cable.

Built in 2007 by Jeff Toman of Customsynth.co.uk.

Jeff has been designing & redesigning synths of incredible fashion for years. If you’re a fan of Jeff’s work you will recognize this synth immediately as it’s one of his most popular creations.

This synth also is equipped with a MIDI upgrade.

There is one note that is not making sound and I haven’t ever bothered to open it up and see what the issue is. I have a feeling it’s a very simple fix. Perhaps maybe even just a cleaning. But other than that this synth is 100% fully functional and sounds AMAZING."

"Restored by David O’Brien this year all original parts inside. The Lyricon I (patented) introduces to electronic music the prime dimension….expression. It is the only totally expressive electronic wind instrument ever conceived or developed. The Lyricon I is totally electronic, employing the most advanced techniques in solid state design. In one superbly crafted instrument, the Lyricon I blends the nuances of expression characteristic of acoustic instruments with the vibrant dynamics of the synthesizer. -What is a Lyricon? The Lyricon is an analog electronic wind synthesizer. The Lyricon was invented by Bill Bernardi and Roger Noble of Computone Inc, in Massachussetts in the early 1970’s.. Of the Lyricon I, about 200 units were hand made."
