Tiptop Buchla Tip no 5

video upload by Todd Barton

"This is a mini-series on the basics of the new Buchla & Tiptop Audio modules. This episode looks at a couple of tricks used in Morton Subotnick's Silver Apples of the Moon. I'm really enjoying these modules and Tiptop has enthusiastically embraced the Buchla paradigm. The oscillators are sounding great and squarely in the Buchla ballpark.

Moog Sub37/Subsequent 37: 64 Arp Presets/Patches. Sound Demo

video upload by Anton Anru

"'Analog Groove' is a collection of 64 Arp Patches for Moog Subsequent 37 and Sub 37.
The bank of presets is universal, the Arps are suitable for all genres of electronic music, including Techno, House, Trance, Lounge, Downtempo, Funk, Disco, Pop, Acid, Hardcore, IDM, Drum'n'Bass, Breaks, Breakbeat, Trap, Electro, Ambient, Dubstep, EDM, Synth-Pop and others.
The patches cover a variety of Arp tones: mild and aggressive, deep and bright, simple and complex, soft and punchy, musical and experimental.
🎧 Get the soundset: https://bit.ly/3x756yg

All patches are very dynamic: they have synced modulations, and they are velocity-sensitive. You may hold a chord and add accents to the arpeggio with velocity.
ModWheel is set in all patches, it adds brightness or movement. In sum, Velocity and ModWheel are nice expressive tools that will make any performance lively.
And, of course, you should play with ADSR, Filter Parameters, Arp and LFO Divisions, Arp Direction and Range, to get the best experience of the arps.

You may turn Arp Mode off and get basses, leads, plucks, keys. In this case, it's better to turn KB RESET on in MOD 1 and 2 sections.
Patches' volume levels are set close to each other, you won't get sudden volume spikes or drops while switching the timbres.

Erica Synths LXR02 // Firmware Update // Review and Demo

video upload by Starsky Carr

"The Erica Synths LXR02 Drum Machine has had a recent firmware update V1.2 that brings some extra functionality, including being able to edit the sounds in performance mode so you can trigger them with the buttons. Its also got flams, microtiming and more PPQ options for clock in and out.

This isn't a full walkthrough as there are plenty of other videos demoing thew main functions. Just my take on the update and why its sooooo good! including some sound and sound editing demos :)"

Novation Peak and Torso Elecrtronics T-1

video upload by Luca Longobardi

"First sessions with the @torsoelectronics T-1 and let's say it is a lot of fun!
The sequences you listen to have been generated by the algorithms of
the machine: it would perhaps have been more surprising to show the
process with which it happens, but I reserve that for the live shows.
For the moment, some synth groove to wash your ears from the first
two Sanremo evenings.
P.s.
Other T-1 owners: do you also have those annoying random notes on play and stop?"

"Polyphonic analogue synthesizer that needs no introduction. But the tone… the richness… the ease with which wonderful sounds emerge from it… (OK, that’s a small introduction).

Freshly overhauled here by James walker including a full recap, new trimmers, complete keyboard rebuild, power supply service and everything that one of these needs.

Compared to its larger relation, these travel much better and don’t tend to require work after shipping."

"Ready to ship after a full overhaul by our head synth tech James Walker.

This has had a serious amount of work, all done here by James Walker. Careful, painstaking and thorough are all words that apply. But more importantly, if we make such a claims for a synth of this pedigree and rarity, we can back that up. The list below from James includes over £500 of parts replaced, and we’ve also included a couple of photos of the bag of bits that came out it. Are you sitting comfortably…

On the rear of the unit all but the mains switch have been replaced. This includes all new Switchcraft 1/4 inch and 1/8 inch Jack sockets, Switchcraft XLR male socket , new IEC Mains Inlet socket and new program protect toggle switch.
The keyboard has had all its bushes replace and the buss bars and j wire contacts have been straightened and cleaned. The key caps have been cleaned and levelled.
The Aftertouch sensor has been replaced with a new ‘Force Sensing Resistor’.
All of the sliders on the Quadra have been removed, disassembled, cleaned, deoxit-ed, lubricated, reassembled, tested and reinstalled.
Three broken sliders have been replaced.
The power supply unit has been completely over hauled. The includes all new main smoothing caps, decoupling caps, replacing tantalum capacitors for wet electrolytic capacitors and replacing ceramic capacitors too.
The power transistors are new as are the plus 5 volt regulators. The linear power supply regulator is new. I’ve replaced all the rectifier diodes and power resistors. I’ve replaced the PSU trimmer for a new CTS trimmer.
I’ve also added two new 20mm fuse holders, to facilitate use of replacement, the original fuses were 32mm wire ended and soldered in.
All tantalum decoupling capacitors have been removed from the Quadra. Where tantalum capacitors we’re used to decouple the power supply lines, I’ve replaced them with wet electrolytic capacitors. Where the a tantalum capacitor functioned as a timing element I replace them with new tantalum capacitors.
All Molex headers, sockets and plugs have been replaced with new Molex products. This includes connectors on the keyboard. Also all wire-to-Molex crimps have been removed and re-crimped with new Molex crimps.
Where necessary any ribbon cable that has been damaged has been replaced with original NOS ARP ribbon cables.
All the sustain capacitors on the upper and lower poly boards have been replaced.
The two ARP filter modules ( 4075) have been recapped and had the extended range mod installed to extend the cut off frequency to 20KHz.
Most of the logic ICs on the keyboard interface board have been replaced.
The CPU board needed various new logic chips , along with new memory and a new Microcontroller. The DAC is new.
Various LEDS have been replaced with original NOS ARP stock.
Finally the end panels have been replaced with new leather end cheeks.
Unit is calibrated and fully working."
