Moog Music Moves to New Location

via WLOS:

"ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Asheville's Moog Music is relocating from its facilities on Broadway Street, and the buildings are up for lease.

In a statement, the company president said they're moving product design, development, and engineering to the Asheville Citizen-Times building along O'Henry Avenue."

Fun Times with CV & Gate

video upload by Circuit 3

"If you know synths and are a bit of an expert this video isn't for you. But: are you synth curious? Grab a drink and make yourself comfortable. Watch me learn how to use some of my synth equipment. My goal was to use only "old school" voltages to control the equipment. CV stands for 'control voltage' and gate means a pulse of electricity which can be used to cause a note to start playing or to tell an electronic instrument what the tempo is. If you liked this ... buy my music!

If you'd like to hear what happened when I pressed record and improvised live?"

Patience [Live Performance]

video upload by Circuit 3

"Recorded live using analog synthesizers controlled by a hardware sequencer. My goal was to use only "old school" voltages to control the equipment. This is part of a project in development. It will probably feature but possibly in a new mix and edit."

LXR-02 does the DFAM & beyond (5 kits, no talk)

video upload by Richard DeHove

"I recently made the somewhat rash suggestion to try an LXR-02 emulation of the DFAM. Here it is, sort of. At first I thought I'd use only one voice of the LXR. So in all five kits demoed here Voice 1 or 2 tends to claim almost all the LFOs and be a clock-synced complex sound.

But the LXR-02 and DFAM are such very different beasts it seemed odd to be so restrictive. Instead I've gone for a two or three voice 16-step kit and pattern that attempts to capture the flavor of the DFAM rather than strict technical parameters.

The speed of all parts is 73bpm, a couple of the kits use the internal ping-pong delay, and where there is definite pitch it's always on C - just makes things easier for sampling and later processing.

The result is not exactly DFAMish. Demo 2 even sounds bit chiptune to me. But I've never yet owned any two machines which could exactly replicate the other. As an exercise though it's a bit of fun! All LXR-02 challenges happily considered.

On the plus side the LXR-02's ability to store presets is a massive bonus but the constant click-and-twiddle is no match for the knob-filled interface of the DFAM/Edge.

All five kits are on my Patreon. Unused voices (typically 4, 5 and 6) are mostly on the default sounds.

As usual there is absolutely no extra processing of the sound. It's all completely raw LXR-02.

0:00 Demo 1: Slapper
1:00 Demo 2: Chiptune
1:56 Demo 3: Saw
3:06 Demo 4: Frogpond
4:23 Demo 5: Decay

Depeche Mode Oberkorn ~ Vintage Synthesizer Recreation ~ RetroSound

One of my favorite tracks from the early 80s
by Depeche Mode
'Oberkorn (It's A Small Town)' is an instrumental track, released as a B-side on the 'The Meaning Of Love' (1982)

featured: Moog Source from the year 1981 and the PPG wave 2.2 from the year 1982

This cover song series contains my own recreations of my favourite songs from the last 50 years. The original music from which I take inspiration belong to their respective owners. I recreate tracks only for personal passion and to pay homage to these tracks.
My intention is not to create covers that sound exactly like the original (if you want to hear identical sounds, please listen the original). It's more of an inspiration with my sounds from the old synthesizers from the past and of course the great appreciation for the original performers and producers."

"Found this on my hard drive today and I wondered.... did I ever post this to Youtube?? I really tried to check but there's too many jams and I could have named it something stupid. In any case---- check out this forgotten gem from the long ago lost worlds of 2021 when my cameras were worse but the jams were still pretty cool 👍"

Two pics of the inside below.

"1977 Moog Model D Minimoog - Classic Analog Mono Synthesizer V5 with Road Case

The 1977 Moog Model D Minimoog is a true gem, embodying the essence of a classic analog mono synthesizer. Encased in a road case for added protection, this vintage beauty from Buffalo NY Moog stands out as an exemplar of analog power, unmatched by modern reissues and plug-in emulations. For aficionados and true synth enthusiasts, the 1970s-era Model Ds hold a revered status as the authentic deal.

Each Model D from this era is a unique masterpiece, radiating its distinctive warmth and character. In our studio, where we had many Model Ds come through our doors, no two sound alike. These vintage treasures deliver a deep, heavy, and punchy bass that is unparalleled, making them a must-have in the arsenal of any electronic music creator. However, their versatility extends beyond electronic genres, offering creative possibilities such as plugging in a guitar to craft tones with vintage filter points that defy the limitations of pedals or amps.

The Model D is a timeless classic that transcends the ages, and this particular Moog holds special significance. It boasts a single owner and has been professionally maintained, recently tuned and calibrated for optimal performance. Notably, this synthesizer features an extended tuning range, highlighted by the three additional ports on the back, showcasing the latest and most stable version of the vintage Minimoog Model D oscillator board available for sale.

While it exhibits minor cosmetic wear, this Model D functions flawlessly and is poised to serve its next owner for many years to come. The sale includes a padded Hybrid road case, offering both protection during travel and secure storage for this exceptional instrument."

Cherry Audio Moog Series III VST Spotted

This one was spotted and sent in via electraumatisme.

Note the Cherry labels at the bottom of each module. It looks like Cherry/MRB

You can see it for yourself at 24:04 in this video.

Update: according to Atomic Shadow this actually appears to be the currently availabile VM900 Collection.

You can find videos dating back to 2021 here, intro video here. I'm not finding any videos mentioning the VM900 after 2021.

If anyone knows otherwise, feel free to leave a comment.

Update2 via Robert Saint John in the comments: "[Atomic Shadow] is correct, this is simply the Cherry Audio/MRB bundle of VM900 modules for Cherry Audio’s Voltage Modular platform, released in October 2021. We have not announced any plans to release this as a standalone or VST instrument"

muSonics Moog Sonic V

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
Moog muSonics Sonic V Demo video upload by MOS-LAB

"The sonic V is a synth developed around 1969/1970 by ex Moog employee Gene Zumcheck (the idea of a portable synthesizer had been refused at the time by Robert Moog).
This synthesizer was built by the company muSonics when Gene Zumchek join them, and was released "officially" when the company bought R.A Moog in 1971 under the Moog muSonics badge.
There were less than a hundred units built (mine has serial number 18).
Unfortunately, very few models are still in existence today, making it a very rare instrument. Not having been exported at the time, it was mainly
intended for universities in USA.
Its successor, the Sonic 6 is an improved and portable
version, but with a different filter (Moog ladder filter)
So it doesn't sound quite the same."

Spotted the above video in the listing below. I'm not finding it previously posted so up it goes. You can find additional demos in previous posts.

AJH Synth MiniMod Keys // If Hans Zimmer uses these daily...

video upload by Starsky Carr

"Imagine if Moog had made the original Minimoog a modular system, we'd have something very similar to the AJHSynth Minimod Keyz... and something that sounds identical. Buckets full of warm, rich, exquisite vintage vibes in a very handy format.

It's so much more than a minimoog clone - firstly the VCOs are based on the most revered RA Moog version, then there's the addition of ring mod, HP filter, extra LFOs

Plus all the extras that the NiftyCase brings - velocity,. aftertouch, LFO, Arp, Sequencer, zoning, voice modes multi, MIDI... and a whole lot more.

and then obviously the flexibility of a modular system... wonderful :)
