  4. i hope Mr. "food equipment" is kidding.

This is good stuff! Keep it up.

Nay-sayers keep it to yourself, or at least share some of your own videos that showcase your skills at using "food equipment".

  5. More Chords!

Lately I've been all about G (I) and D Flat (all inversions) - man those are crazy.

But my all time faves still gotta be F#7sus11/13 and Amaj7sus9.

  6. yeah, you should be able to do something more interesting with food equipment, easily.

  7. WOW! You should call yourself TANGERINE NIGHTMARE. Are you kidding me? Who has 9 minutes to listen to this crap? I nodded off at minute 2.

  8. gee, thanks a lot guys. how about you post a video of yourself playing live and lets just see what you can come up with.

  9. ok, you're sick of noise crap but i'm sick of planetarium soundtracks.

  10. Matrix, get rid these morons :)
Plexus, that was not my favorite kind of music, but it was a great listen, you made me wish i was there twiddling knobs too! Keep up the good work

  11. I found it to be very TD like.
    Not bad.

Plexus, don't take these comments to heart.
These people thrash anyone who tries to do something they can't.
Don't let them bring you down.
They're just jealous you have gear.

  12. That was fantastic! I don't know what you guys are listening through, but that cat rocks the minimoog. And the modular sequences rolling around towards the end, so nice. It's all about the real time suckas!

  13. Jesus, quit hating on anonymous posters.

The truth is sometimes a hard pill to swallow, that doesn't make someone an asshole.

If someone thinks that video was shit, they can shout it from the rooftops. That's their right!

You don't HAVE to know who they are. In fact, you don't even HAVE to read their comment.

Besides, did you ever think that maybe an anonymous poster doesn't have or want a google/blogger id?

    Here's my two cents:

Plexus, if you're gonna put something in the public domain, expect to feel the heat. Anyone who has ever released a record knows all about it.

As the saying goes, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

If you can't take criticism, don't post your videos.

  14. I say if someone posts a video and you listen to it (or not), show some respect and don't insult them. And if you don't have a blogger account, get one, it's free.

  15. "If you can't take criticism, don't post your videos."
Gee what a funny comment indeed !
If anonymous posters are entitled to insult the author of this video, he is in turn entitled to insult these anonymous posters. That's only fair...

    ReplyDelete
  16. man, that was pretty good.

  17. I'm one of the anonymous posters. I'm sorry for being so harsh. Your music doesn't suck, it just isn't my thing. When someone has the courage to post their music they should expect and listen to all kinds of criticism. MY criticism: try to be more original and less Tangerine Dream, and post shorter clips that get to the point faster.

  18. That's not constructive criticism.
Telling someone to try to be more original with the music they create for their own entertainment with their own toys in their spare time seems like an immature response. Perception of originality will vary from person to person. Nothing is original. 17 year old kids think they're original when they write bad poetry about not being understood. Surely if he had posted a experimental noise piece then the howls of "it's not musical" or "it's too arty" would ensue. Should I tell the techno dj that his beats are too similar and repetitive? The glitch artist's sounds are too harsh? Prog rocker's tones too retro? Ambient musician's music is too long and droning? What kind of music do you make? I guarentee I can tell you how you suck at it. I could also tell you how your good at it-even if I don't like it. Basically, I think plexus executed this piece well. If it had been a piss-poor attempt at this style, then CONSTRUCTIVE criticism would be justified.
I enjoy seeing how people use their gear. I hope more people post these kinds of videos. Thanks to you many people will be discouraged to do this and we won't get to see these cool instruments in action. I can't go to my local music store and see even one intersting synth. Matrixsynth is about the GEAR I think. It doesn't seem like the right place for musical critique. So, thanks plexus for showing us the cool gear and one of the ways that you use it.

  19. It is rather 'Tangerine Dream-y', but this is pretty obvious. For me, not being the biggest fan, it could be them. Seriously, you could probably give me an A/B test with Plexus and TD and I bet I would fail. So I'd say that's a pretty damn good accopmlishment.

Hey, I play 'retro' music (Jazz/Funk/Punk) a lot as well, and it may not be 100% original, but you can do it without sucking. And that's kind of how it works - you take the tradition(s) that exist and run with them. Most of the time people think they're really 100% original, they're probably deluded.

I say bravo. I would challenge a lot of people here to perform a whole piece live by themselves. I, personally, tend to rely on a band or a backing track, at least. I mean, there is that sequence (which rules by the way), but it's fairly minimal. Keep it up.

  20. seriously, what's with all the gear, you could do better with a single Evolver.... hell, i've heard better from a single evolver... needs some noise! sorry lacks inspiration and creativity. D+ good luck... it's been over done 30 years ago. Get some real Food Equipment!

  21. Ya, we gotta save the hatin for the buchlas ;)

  22. thanks guys. the best and most helpful comment so far has been "Needs more fucking banjos." thank you synthbaron for that. i'll work on it. the next best comment was "needs some noise!" thanks for that too. thats why i have my effector 13 pedals.

the rest of it is typical internet banal bulls**t. but, there you go. expecting anything more is like expecting more than 90% of the videos people post to be more than gear demos with factory patches.

of course i'll keep doing what i do. i've been doing it for over 25 years and the last thing i need is ego stroking.

i did this because i like to and i thought some of you might like it too. as it turns out, some of you do. so thats fabulous! i'll do more.

  23. well done plexus
life is what you make it :-)
