Akai Miniak controlling Vermona qMI

"Akai Miniak to Vermona quad Midi Interface modular synth

After taking delivery of the Akai miniak and playing with it for a week or so to make sure everything was functioning as it should (used item) I set to work on a experiment.

The miniak has a great sequencer and arpeggio engine within it and I wanted to see if these features would integrate into usefulness controlling my modular synth. This is besides the intended use I have for the miniak which I wont go into at this time.

The first experiment failed and I was worried the miniak would not be useful driving the modular. After joining the yahoo user group and writing to Akai's technical service department I pondered of the path for experiment two.

Success!!! Turns out that passing the midi out from the miniak through a midi patchbay to the Vermona qMI works where direct midi line from the miniak to the qMI does not.

Now to set up the various voices on the modular in which the miniak is controlling. You will witness these in succession in the video.

Voice one: A sine wave from a Blue ZTVCO to the HEXvca and doepfer adsr to soften the gate hit.
Voice two: A four saw wave voice spread from the E340 into the EMS synthi filter (Vulcan modulated) and into the HEXvca.
Voice three: A saw wave sequence from a Tip Top Z3000 mkI into the HEXvca.
Voice four: Clock out from the qMI to Rene which is controlling a voice on the QMMG coming from the E350 Z output. This is the reverbed bongo like drums you here.
Voice five: The miniak driving a Blue ZTVCO Zodial wave through the Topobrillo wave folder being modulated by the Dalek out to the HEXvca.

Voice four through the Mutagen to the Korg KP3 and to the mixer with reverb added.

All other voices through the Mutagen and straight to the mixer. Trombone added for spice.

Liking the miniak so far, Thank You for watching!"
