SoundMiT 2018 Announces First Exhibitors

The following is a list of the first exhibitors coming to SoundMiT - International Sound Summit. The second edition of SoundMiT will be held on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 November 2018, at the Teatro "Lavanderia a Vapore" - Corso Pastrengo 51 Collegno (Turin).
You can click through the links below for additional details on each.

"For the first time in Italy, Schmidt Synthesizers!

Soundmit exclusive, for the first time in Italy the famous no-compromise analog eight-voice polyphonic Schmidt-Synthesizer!

After selling more than 50 units of this exclusive instrument and just starting the production of the third batch of 25 new ones, german manufacturer e:m:c will show the Schmidt-Synthesizer for the first time at Soundmit - International Sound Summit in Torino, 3-4 November 2018.

"We are very excited to show the Schmidt at Soundmit in Italy" says Product Manager Axel Fischer. "Italy is one of the leading countries in electronic music and has a long history of very successful electronic instruments. We are looking forward in meeting the Italian synthesizer scene on location."

Schmidt, one of the most coveted modern analog synthesizers, comes to Italy with his eight-voice polyphony with unison and true multitimbrality mode.
Full MIDI implementation with a USB port and complete programmability. The signal path is fully analog with precise digital control. Schmidt´s sound generation engine features virtually everything that subtractive synthesis is endowed with – and even more: Schmidt gives you truly unique features that have never been implemented in an analog synthesizer before, not to speak of polyphonic units! Think of Multi-PWM and Multi-Ring Modulation.

Every single parameter – even for the most complex modulation routings you might envisage – can be accessed directly using dedicated front panel controls and switches. No more browsing through mind-boggling and confusing menus.

Thanks to programmable high-quality real-time controls (pitch and modulation wheel, stick controller, and aftertouch, as well as several inputs for footswitches and expression pedals), Schmidt has become a real performance synthesizer that feels as good as it sounds.

Schmidt is made to match the highest production standards – it has entirely been hand-crafted in Germany. The casing, made of metal and carefully selected wood, keeping a close eye on environmental sustainability, is as beautiful as it is sturdy and robust.

And we can admire it in November at the Soundmit 2018!"

"Schertler joins Soundmit's tech partners

After previously exhibiting and presenting workshops at Soundmit in Turin, Schertler will support this year’s event as a technical partner.

The Swiss manufacturer and developer of the ARTHUR modular and Prime series of compact mixers will provide mixers and other equipment for workshop use in the presentation halls. The company will also supply mixers for exhibitors to use with synths, microphones and other equipment on their booths.

The Soundmit international sound summit, which takes place on 3-4 November, is the largest of its kind in southern Europe and the only Italian trade show specializing in synthesizers and electronic musical instruments. With Schertler’s Arthur mixers already widely used by leading keyboard players and engineers, this latest partnership can be seen as a very positive development.

'We are delighted to be joining Soundmit as a technical partner' says Schertler Marketing Manager Drago Dujak. 'Last year we presented some successful workshops with our Arthur modular mixer. This year we are pleased to be introducing the new Arthur Prime compact mixers, which are ideal for keyboard / synthesizer use and for small recording projects. With many exhibitors requiring a mixer on their booth, we are looking forward to supporting them with products and technology that can help them demonstrate their own brands with the highest possible sound quality'."

"Patch & Tweak - Exploring Modular Synthesis

From the author of "Push, Turn, Move", the book on electronic music instruments and a must-have for every synth and design freak, comes "Patch and Tweak" a new book to explore the world of modular synthesizers.

The new book about modular synths, their makers, and masters. Patching secrets, performance tips, history, modules, and techniques.

PATCH & TWEAK provides an opportunity for new and experienced users to become true masters of their modular systems by exploring, explaining, and demystifying a range of topics relevant to anyone interested in modular synths or just synthesis itself.

A cornerstone of PATCH & TWEAK is a bouquet of inspirational interviews with significant creators and major artists. Learn about their systems, philosophies, patching secrets, performance tips, and passion for modular synthesis.
Besides a comprehensive introduction to synthesis and its history, the book covers systematic sections on concepts, purpose and creative possibilities of specific modules. Enjoy colorful diagrams, presentations of both popular and rare modules, semi-modular and software, as well as techniques for patching and how to get started.

PATCH & TWEAK has a foreword by Suzanne Ciani, is written by Kim Bjørn and Chris Meyer, and edited by Paul Nagle.

At Soundmit, we will host a talk with the author Kim Bjørn and other guests! Stay tuned!"

"Acusmatiq Festival and Soundmit together under the sign of the synths!

Acusmatiq Festival join the Soundmit for a partnership!

We are pleased to announce that, for the 2018 edition, Soundmit will have among its content partners, Acusmatiq Festival (www.acusmatiq.it), one of the most longest-running Italian electronic and experimental music festivals.
During the Soundmit we will be able to attend a talk about the history of the Italian electronic musical instrument that in the Marche region, home of Acusmatiq, sinks most of its roots."

"Are we sure it's not rocket science?

From Holland to Soundmit, This is Not Rocket Science!

Sequencers, Envelopes and complexes LFO will be at Soundmit. Fortunately, to explain how they work there will be the best scientists!

TUESDAY (Procedural Sequencer)
13 carefully selected algorithms for the precise and methodical creation of melodic lines.
The X and Y controls let you modify the parameters of each algorithm, offering almost infinite and non-random possibilities. It can be synchronized with an external clock source (24PPQN!) Or it can generate a clock from 20 to 240 bpm. For each melody a different musical scale, beats per loop and tick per beats can be set.

WOBBLER (Complex Modulation Source)
An LFO with 5 waveforms, two of which are based on physical modeling, dual output and visual feedback of CV outputs.

EDGECUTTER (Visual Envelope)
An ADSR envelope characterized by the presence of a line of bright LEDs able to indicate the exact position of the envelope, a visual feedback useful both in live situations and in sound sculpting."

"Bastl Instruments, a community driven company

Bastl Instruments is a community-driven company with the main focus in development and production of electronic musical instruments.
