KASTLE 2 WAVE BARD
Experimental, patchable stereo sample player
The Kastle 2 Wave Bard is an experimental, patchable stereo sample player that empowers you to discover new rhythms and riffs through modulation and modularity.
And now for something a little different on the site in via supporting member, Saul Stokes. Close-up of the gear he's playing at the end.
"This week, we made our way over to the Freight @ Salvage in Berkeley, California, to test out our latest track, Dreamer. Dreamer will be out later this Spring on a new EP we're finishing up. The Freight & Salvage has an amazing sound system, but I was dealing with very low stage monitors, which wildly makes you feel like no one can hear you. You have to trust the sound engineer, and it can pull you out of the zone. Syd, on the other hand, easily commanded the song with simple vocal perfection. This piece is an extraction of music built from my Frequensea Episode 7 composition. Dreamer reminds me of a lot of classic electronic music. Perhaps an amalgam of early OMD and Massive Attack. The first lyrical line pays homage to This Mortal Coil's 'Morning Glory.' Look us up on Instagram to see where we'll be next.

"John Dee from the Bastl Crew performs "Sync Drift" with a Bastl Eurorack setup. This live modular set features the M8 sequencer, Michigan Synthworks MSW810, and Bastl modules including Basil, 1983, Neo Trinity, and Pizza. Watch as John explores synchronized LFO modulation, waveform shaping with the Pizza Oscillator, and real-time tweaking of Basil's delay effects.

PATCH NOTES:
The patch starts with the M8 sending a MIDI sequence to the 1983 to drive two voices. The first routes CV/trigger to Pizza’s V/Oct and Sync inputs, with the CTRL knob set to the internal envelope. The second voice sequences the bassline via the Michigan Synthworks MSW810 CV/GATE inputs.
Neo Trinity handles LFO duties: LFO A/B channels (smoothed random) morph Pizza’s oscillator shape and tweak Cinnamon’s filter cutoff via Aikido, while LFO D/E channels control Basil’s Blur and Speed. Pizza’s main and octave outputs mix through Aikido (Channels C/D) before feeding into Cinnamon’s high-pass filter, which is FM-modulated by LFO B. /možná Neo Trinity's LFO B pro jasnost?/
Basil processes the filtered signal with a synced ping-pong delay, with its Blur and Speed tweaked live alongside Neo Trinity’s LFOs.
Aikido’s VCAs allow for muting and fading of Pizza’s waveforms and modulation depth on the fly, while Bestie outputs the final stereo mix."

A note on the update:
"Haken Editor and Firmware 10.51: Updated March 17 2025
This new firmware adds increased functionality and sound design possibilities to our EaganMatrix sound engine, the sonic heart of all of our Haken Audio products.
EaganMatrix BiqGraph Bank has enhanced ways to control narrowband resonances.
Control resonance using Decay Time Constants or Bandwidths
Optional use of Excitation Position for filter inputs.
Optional use of String Nonlinearity Coefficient for filter center frequencies.
EaganMatrix Additive Bank has support for Christophe Duquesne’s “Loris” Additive Overlay.
Up to 40 additive analyses, grouped into 4 decades.
Analyses and associated presets are set up by Loris, then playable within the EaganMatrix.
Continuum players have a new way to play tiny intervals or unisons: Place one finger at near side of surface and another at far side, then keep each finger at its side while sliding towards same pitch.
Fixed a variety of bugs reported by users, including:
Polyphony incorrect on certain older presets.
Damper pedal issues on some 8x Continuums.
Certain presets had incorrect voice allocation when receiving MPE.
Incorrect formula interaction with Touch Control Area and Pitch Trim Graphs.
Stuck notes when changing polyphony while playing additive presets.
Power-up inter-dsp communication improvements for multi-dsp systems (6x, 8x).
"Syd and I are a father-daughter electronic music duo. Our style of music comes from Syd's amazing singing, lyrics, and compositional skills combined with my 30-year history of electronic music. This is our first EP, 24 on 7. For our live sets, we have fine-tuned the perfect live show setup. Our entire set is battery-powered and built into a travel case. This allows us to set up and perform quickly anywhere. Contact me for booking possibilities! Check out the rest of our EP using the links below.

"Today I am exploring the bitRanger, a collaboration between Casper Electronics and Bastl Instruments. It is a patchable analog logic synthesizer that allows for the creation of a wide range of sounds, from drones to arpeggios, through its unique patching system.
The bitRanger is processed through the Cosmos ‘Drifting Memory Station,' a unique (and awesome!) asynchronous multitrack looper/delay by Soma Laboratory.
This performance was recorded live:, and lightly mastered in Pro Tools.
This is a long one, with very minimal editing: feel free to skip around using the chapters below!
"At BAF 2025 we met up with Vaclav from Bastle Instruments who gave us a look at the *Kastle 2 FX Wizard*, a compact patchable multi-effects processor with 9 core effects. Pitch shifting, stereo delays, flanging, freezing and autopanning are just some of the effects you can access, and everything can be synced externally or via the inbuilt LFO creating complex and flexible rhythmic effects. It seems like an extremely creative sound mangling device, and all in a tiny package."

"🎉 Have you checked out the latest 1.1 update for Neo Trinity? 🌟 We've packed in a massive new feature, fine-tuned some bugs, and enhanced your modular experience! 🎛️✨ Plus, enjoy an all-new jam from our very own Veltruský 🎶🎥
Here’s what’s new:
🆕 Added: Output attenuversion for fine control (hold letters A-F and turn the knob; resets with mode change or bipolarity change).
🛠️ Fixed: Module slowdowns (like slower clock outputs). First beat skip when externally synced.
🔄 Changed: Quantization now applies to CV triggers. Manual trigger (SHIFT+REC) sends gates even if muted or stopped. Envelopes trigger via Meta / In E / In F, even when stopped. Slew mode manual triggers now produce gates. Voltage threshold for external triggers is now fixed at 2.0V. Prevent accidental REC triggers (now requires holding REC for 40ms).
Update now and take your Neo Trinity to the next level! 🚀🎶"
"I've just built the Basilisk from Wirehead Instruments and thought I'd give it a play with some friends. DIY Build video should be in the channel shortly. This is one fun little box of synthesizer with a very cool generative sequencer and two oscillators. This is just an improvised jam and fiddle around to give you a flavour of the synth."
