Neuzeit Instrument WARP - Additive synthesis

video upload by ALEQ Modular

"I'm just receiving the new Neuzeit Instrument WARP.
Because I'm a bit obsessed by additive synthesis, I wanted to try it quickly...

So here a test of the additive synthesis part of this module.
Yes: I'm not doing a full review of it: only the spectrum edition (and a bit of the SPEC menu too)

To resum, I must admit that contrary to what we may think, the edition is pretty easy and fast. It just need to spend few minutes to read the quick start guide. So it's quite easy to build evoltive and complex sound.
(Ok...it takes time, but it's because there a lot on it, not because of ergonomic issues)

In addition to the WARP, I'm checking the VECTOR WAVE from RYK, which seems similar in some ways. Also easy to use. And finally, a small reminder of the Kawai K5000R, beast of additive synthesis but too hard to program."

See the announcement post for Neuzeit Instrument's WARP here.

PanicGirl Presets For The New WARP Module From Neuzeit Instruments 🪐

video upload by PanicGirlVids

"Thomas from @neuzeitrecordings was kind enough to make some lovely sound demos of the presets that I made for his wonderful new WARP Eurorack module.

The WARP module has a hybrid engine that combines additive and wavetable synthesis, with four voices and two oscillators each. And it has a lot of sound design options to choose from, it's quite a rabbit hole once you start exploring the modulation options.

Let me know what you think of it in the comments below!"

Superbooth 2023: Neuzeit - Warp

video upload by sonicstate

"Thomas from Neuzeit showed us Warp, a new monophonic synthesizer voice that features wavetable and additive synthesis. When connected to an expander, the Warp can also become a four-voice polyphonic unit. The oscillator has an XY grid that allows for intuitive drawing of frequency spectra and wavetables, with different locations creating different sounds, and the ability to create and save custom wavetables for use on other synths. The Warp has the standard features of detune, oscillator, and sync, and can create a range of sounds from glassy to grungy.

The Warp's most impressive feature is the intuitive and fun-to-use editor, where users can draw their own frequency spectra and wavetables onto the XY grid using various algorithms. The user can alter the transition and position of the sounds on the grid to achieve their desired sound, and the editor allows the user to load various wavetable files from an SD card. The Warp can also export the whole XY grid as a wavetable in different formats.

Superbooth 22: Neuzeit Instruments - Quasar

video upload by sonicstate

"Thomas from Neuzeit Instruments showed us Quasar, his new binaural processing module.

Quasar has two mono inputs and a stereo output and it gives 3D space to the incoming signal allowing you to place it in front, behind, above or below the listener, working extremely well with field-recordings and natural sounds, but it works with anything you throw at it.

Available now.

Quasar Price: 470 euros"

Neuzeit Quasar | 3D binaural processor | Firmware 1.10

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Headphones are strongly recommended for this video.
Quasar is an audio processor that can move sounds in a 3D sphere.
Firmware 1.10 adds some major improvements but the most significant one for me is the support for stereo input. Quasar was originally intended for mono sources - and I don't work in mono - so I wasn't happy at first. But this new firmware just opens up a lot of space! If you're curious how it works I've included a link to Loopop's video who explained it better than I ever can. I'll just show you some ideas of how to make it sound great :)."

You can find additional posts featuring the Neuzeit Quasar including a walkthrough in previous posts here.

Neuzeit Instruments Quasar binaural 3D audio mixer Eurorack Module Coming to SUPERBOOTH21

"3D Audio mixing with the prototype of „Quasar“, our new module! The LFO/CV modulates the azimuth (=angle). In1 is a vocal, In2 is a synth voice. Changing parameters such as height, distance and room amount manually."

"Sneak preview for our new module! „Quasar“ is a binaural 3D audio mixer which lets your sounds move around your head. All parameters are CV mappable, e.g. angle, height and distance, but also parameters of the powerful internal matrix mixer. With its big aluminum knobs and led rings it is not only shiny but also fun to use 😉

Visit us at #superbooth in a few days to check it out!"

Neuzeit Orbit Bitcrusher + Harmonizer

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Orbit is an effect module providing bitcrushing, harmonizing and filtering. It doesn't do anything on its own, so it needs an external source. It's a great module if you want to turn a simple sound into something huge, and it also works very well with drum and bass sounds, providing lots of animation thanks to the many CV inputs. Highly recommended when you're into Techno. I still have to figure out what will happen with more ambient patches, so there will be a part 02."

Neuzeit Orbit | Part 02 | Light & Dark Ambient

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"A second take on the Neuzeit Orbit, but this time in a more ambient setting with a clear light and obscure dark side. After playing with it for more than a week I found out the Orbit works best with either simple waveforms and beats - or a big system with lots of utilities. I don't think it's a beginner module, but if your system needs some 'grit', it's definitely worth a listen."

"In their debut module, the Neuzeit Instruments Orbit is a compelling example of how smaller synthesis blocks can be combined together into a deep and rewarding instrument and processor with its own unique identity. Within Orbit you'll find bitcrushing, filtering and EQ, harmonically-related pitch-tracking oscillators, an envelope generator and LFO, mixing capabilities, and more—all useful elements in their own right. But the magic behind Orbit is how these sections all interact and relate with each other, resulting in complex sound design and processing capabilities without a ton of additional modules or patching.

There are two main sections in Orbit named CRSH and HARM, as well as the filter, dedicated low frequency EQ, and the envelope. External signals enter Orbit at the bottom left, offering two input VCAs with level and CV controls, as well as a third input which runs straight into the filter, skipping the other three sections entirely. The summed output of the two VCAs then runs through a bass boost/cut EQ, which passes onto the other processing sections, as well as being available via the BLEED level control in the mixer just before the filter. Thus, while there is a dedicated level control for the totally dry input signal at the output, BLEED is another way to dial in body and fundamental frequencies which may get lost in the midst of the other sections' processing.
