VAEMI Releases Its First Plug-in: R2R Ladder for VCV Rack

"The hardware R2R Ladder Eurorack module is now available as a free virtual module, marking the first release in VAEMI’s expanding software line.

Istanbul, Türkiye – September 2026 – Istanbul-based electronic musical instrument manufacturer VAEMI – Volt Age Electronic Musical Instruments has released its first plug-in and first software product: R2R Ladder for VCV Rack. The new virtual module is a software adaptation of VAEMI’s physical R2R Ladder Eurorack module, preserving the original hardware’s bidirectional architecture and core musical concept. The plug-in is available free of charge through the official VCV Library.

Inspired by the fundamental architecture of an R-2R digital-to-analog converter, R2R Ladder uses eight weighted connections representing eight binary bits. Together, these provide 256 possible binary combinations, opening up a wide range of applications for audio, CV, gates, modulation and waveform processing.

The module can operate in two directions.

In 8 IN / 1 OUT mode, eight incoming signals are combined using exact binary weighting. This allows R2R Ladder to function as a weighted summing mixer, an 8-bit DAC-style CV or gate combiner, a stepped modulation source, or an experimental tool for combining and reshaping audio signals at precisely related amplitudes.

In 1 IN / 8 OUT mode, a single audio or control-voltage signal is distributed across eight outputs at different fixed levels. This makes it possible to send one source to several destinations at different strengths, create parallel signal paths, or use the outputs as a set of immediately available fixed attenuation stages.

The VCV Rack edition supports polyphonic cables and includes flexible cable-management options when switching between its two operating modes. It processes both audio and control-voltage signals and intentionally applies no internal pitch quantization, clipping or automatic level limiting, leaving further signal processing entirely to the patch. R2R Ladder represents the first step in VAEMI’s expansion into software. Alongside its continuing development of analog and digital electronic musical instruments and Eurorack modules, VAEMI plans to introduce additional plug-ins and software-based musical tools in the future.

VAEMI R2R Ladder v2.1.0 is available now as a free download through the official VCV Library.
