Shadows of Saturn Dual / Paraphonic VCO From Recovery Effects

video upload by recoverysounds

"Shadows of Saturn is a dual oscillator module with a paraphonic twist. Each oscillator can operate independently or together using a single CV source. This allows for intuitive interval tuning, perfect fifths, octaves, subtle detuning, and more, unlocking rich melodic textures and sound design possibilities.

Each channel offers four selectable waveforms (triangle, saw, sine, and square), navigated via a dedicated scroll button. It is housed in a compact 10HP format ideal for space-conscious Eurorack systems.

Whether you need a reliable pair of oscillators or are venturing into paraphonic synthesis with individual outputs, Shadows of Saturn brings flexibility, depth, and character to any modular setup.

Designed and assembled in Seattle, Washington. Includes a one-year limited warranty if registered within 30 days of delivery.

Features:
Four waveforms per oscillator: triangle, saw, sine, square
Independent or paraphonic operation with dual outputs
Bipolar signal operation
Frequency range: 20Hz – 20kHz
1V / octave tracking"

Children/Robert Miles - (Novation Circuits Dream Version)

video upload by Guinan

"Huge thanks to @hansotto8563 for this suggestion. Thanks again to all subscribers for their support. I’ve always loved this track and it remains a favourite to this day.

First released in 1995 this song was originally composed by DJ Robert Miles (real name Roberto Concina) as a ‘wind-down’ track for the end of his DJ sets. Credited as starting the genre of ‘dream house’ it was conceived as a way of reducing the death toll for clubbers returning from Italian clubs and falling asleep at the wheel.

The whole track was programmed and played on just the two machines’ pictured, a Novation Circuit Tracks and Circuit Rhythm. No additional synth or effects were used and the track was recorded straight from the output of the Rhythm (which mixed in the audio input from the Tracks).

I hope you enjoy the end result and check back soon for more tunes.

More details for synth nerds;

I’ve been thinking for a while as to how to cover this. Very much of the 90’s, it used sampled instruments and this made it harder to keep this an all-Circuit track. So much of the track relies on the impact of the piano and guitar samples I needed to reproduce these convincingly. I used my Circuit Rhythm purely as an expander in this case and all the sequences are played from the Circuit Tracks.

The Circuit Rhythm is running purely as a MIDI slave device for channels 3 and 4 only. I plan to detail how to do this in another video – mainly because the title ‘Make Rhythm Your Slave’ popped into my head and seemed too good to waste!

The original piano sound was apparently played on a Kurzweil K2000 and I managed to find a sample of the same sound. The Rhythm is monophonic and the sample is not multisampled but I think (with lot’s of reverb and delay) I managed to get it sounding not too bad.

The patches are self-programmed and I had some fun putting together the thunder and rain ambience effects from free online sample libraries.

The tracks are as follows.
TRACKS
Synth 1 – M1 Organ bass-like patch
Synth 2 – phased detuned sawtooth pad
MIDI 1 – MIDI channel 3 to piano sample track on Rhythm
MIDI 2 – MIDI channel 4 to acoustic guitar sample on Rhythm
Drum 1 – bass drum, 909 sample
Drum 2 – 909 snare sample
Drum 3 – 909 hihat and closed hihat samples.
Drum 4 – ambient samples for thunder, rain etc. (from various free online sample libraries) edited via phaser effect as per original track.
RHYTHM
Track 3 (MIDI channel 3) Kurzweil K2000 sample.
Track 4 (MIDI channel 4) Kawai acoustic guitar sample.

The remaining sample tracks and sequencer on the Rhythm were not used (to reduce the complexity of the track). I based the track on the Dreams version of the song and had to simplify it somewhat to fit in the Tracks. Many of the patterns were played at quarter speed and the notes played unquantized to use micro-steps to squeeze longer squences in. Nonetheless I’ve had to simplify the arrangement but I hope I’ve captured the spirit of this classic.

Thanks once again for watching. Fire away with any questions in the comments and stay tuned"

Thicken Kicks, Bass, and Synths with OCELOT Octaver

video upload by Fuse Audio Labs

Press release follows:

Fuse Audio Labs offers OCELOT Octaver as octave-down weight- and octave-up presence-delivering plugin with precision and ease

DUESSELDORF, GERMANY: truly analog-sounding plugins developer Fuse Audio Labs is proud to announce availability of OCELOT Octaver — offered up as an octave-down weight- and octave-up presence-delivering plugin with precision and ease, duly designed to add deep punch to kicks, extra growl to bass, or subtle enhancements to synth lines as a streamlined tool that reshapes source material in powerful, specific ways with zero latency and minimal CPU (Central Processing Unit) load — as of June 19…

OCELOT Octaver offers full control over the frequency focus of each octave via dedicated TUNE controls — unlike many traditional octave effects, enabling optimal low-end extension and top-end lift to be dialled in with precision as a result of this being so successfully implemented. Its Listen mode, meanwhile, aids in identifying the exact range being enhanced, enabling highly targeted and musical results.

Anchored around a state-of-the-art algorithm, OCELOT Octaver maintains signal integrity throughout. The plugin delivers consistent, phase-stable performances — even on fast transients or harmonically complex sources, contrasting wildly with the warbly, glitch-prone behaviour common to many octavers out there. The outcome is tight, clean octave content that blends naturally into the mix.

OCELOT Octaver’s detailed visual feedback supports confident decision-making at all times. There are separate level meters for each octave, the output signals providing clear level referencing, while the collapsable FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) view reveals the effect’s spectral footprint. Furthermore, octave solo options, smart key shortcuts, and global level control complete a workflow built for flexibility, precision, and speed.

“Octavers are often either too simplistic or too unpredictable to be truly useful in serious productions,” proffers Fuse Audio Labs CEO Reimund Dratwa. “We set out to change that, offering precision tuning, rock-solid tracking, and deep sound-shaping tools in a plugin that feels as creative as it is reliable,” he continues, concluding: “It’s all about inspiring results, without it getting in the way.”

OCELOT Octaver is available at a significantly discounted introductory promo price of only $29.00 USD until July 19, 2025 — rising thereafter to its regular price of $69.00 USD — directly from its dedicated webpage, which includes more in-depth information, here: https://fuseaudiolabs.com/ocelotoctaver_utmpr.html

14-day trial versions of all Fuse Audio Labs plugins without any limitations are available to download from here: https://fuseaudiolabs.com/plugins.html

"A piece created with the ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet-10, modular synth, and tape loops—ambient music where glitchy modular rhythms drift beneath slow-moving harmonies.

Prophet-10: Improvised live with ‪@strymon‬ blueSky reverb.

Modular synth: A Plaits voice is sequenced by a monome Grid and WHITE WHALE, bit-reduced through a Roland BITRAZER, then further processed with ‪@ChaseBlissAudio‬ LOSSY and the MOOD MK II. In Ableton Live, two layers of Beat Repeat add additional glitches.

Tape loop: A pre-recorded piano loop is played back at half speed. Its output feeds the ‪@HologramElectronics‬ MICROCOSM, where reverb and looping create layered textures."

Dr. Endo explores LIVEN Evoke: EXPR//Residue

Dr. Endo – Live Set
PTN12: EXPR//Residue
---
A cinematic ambient track evoking the grandeur of a distant galactic empire, EXPR//Residue begins with a solemn tuba drone and unfolds into a slowly shifting sonic landscape.

The tuba forms the foundation of the piece—its rich tone is enhanced with a harmonic waveform to add depth, and sent through GRAIN FX to transform a simple two-note bassline into a dense, evolving low-frequency texture.

Oboe chords provide a gentle, pad-like atmosphere, blending naturally into reverb to create soft, immersive motion.
Scattered throughout the track, piano accents are pulled and stretched using the BACKTIDE function, adding expressive drag and emotional tension.

One track is dedicated to filtered noise, modulated by an LFO on the low-pass filter cutoff. This creates a storm-like undercurrent that blends beautifully with the reverb, expanding the spatial field of the mix.

This piece explores the remnants of something vast and ancient—a residue of sound and structure left drifting in space.

video upload by Lo-fi Pask

"The Teenage Engineering OP-XY has a unique way of unlocking creativity — even when inspiration runs low. This video is built around an old OP-XY project I recently unearthed, proof that unfinished ideas can still spark something new.

In this live jam, the Teenage Engineering OP-XY becomes the heart of a dark-retro-futuristic soundscape, blending synthwave grooves, ambient arpeggios, and gritty, distorted textures. A raw and expressive performance shaped by the OP-XY’s playful, hands-on approach to electronic music.

🎧 For the full experience — including subtle textures, punchy bass, and detailed drums — headphones are highly recommended.
