I put the GForce Prophet 5 VST head-to-head against my real Sequential Prophet 5 hardware — testing filters, oscillators, envelopes, LFOs, vintage mode, FM, sync, unison, and more — to find out just how close it really gets.

The GForce Prophet 5 is the ONLY Prophet 5 software officially endorsed by Sequential, making it the only plugin that can legally call itself the Prophet 5. But does the endorsement mean anything sonically? After hours of clinical testing with spectrum analysis, oscilloscopes, and direct A/B comparisons, the results genuinely surprised me.

The verdict? The differences I found are no greater than you'd hear between two hardware Prophet 5s. If you don't own the hardware and aren't doing a clinical A/B, you will not notice them.

The GForce Prophet 5 is also remarkably CPU efficient — 10 instances use less CPU than a single Ozone instance. It adds two layers, up to 10-voice polyphony, full CC modulation, and an X-Mod section that turns a classic polysynth into something far more powerful."

"Time for a new one on on the beautiful ECHON 6! I got some questions on if ECHON 6 can do 'regular' synth sounds as well, it sure can:)

One of the many cool things about ECHON 6 is that its exciter section on its own is already a very nice sounding single oscillator poly synth, with morphable waveforms on its fat sounding oscillators. And you can use all of ECHON's extensive modulation capabilities for sound design as well. The only thing missing would be filter resonance, but to be honest I'm usually not a big fan of filter resonance anyway.

The real fun naturally starts when you start combining the exciter's synth voice with the resonator section, which is exactly what I did here. In this case the resonator ads a bit of a chewy sound, which I really like."

"An electronica piece where evolving rhythmic timbres and sustained tones intertwine. Created with Digitone, ‪@teenageengineering‬ OP-1 field, and ‪@SequentialLLC‬ Prophet-10.

On the Digitone, both drones and percussion sounds are performed. The drones are created by setting the amplifier envelope release to INF, allowing the tones to sustain continuously.

The percussion timbres evolve throughout the piece by changing algorithm parameters and filter envelope settings.

On the Prophet-10, additional synth pads are performed to blend with and expand the pad textures from the Digitone.
