Diabolical Circuit Bent Roland TR-505

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. via this auction

"Up for auction is a Roland TR-505 drum machine professionally modified by Diabolical Devices aka Class A Electronics, llc. When none of the modifications are active this machine will behave as a 100% stock tr-505. The modifications affect the sounds only and do not affect internal or midi data or sequences. The modification we have added here is very similar to our popular tr-707 modifications. This item comes with patch cables, power adapter (US/120vac only) and original Roland owners manual.

Modifications:

Pitch/CLK speed adjust: There are (4) added pitch controls with bypass switch. The affect the first 4 drum groups.

Patch Bay: linking patch points with included patch cables will generate a wide variety of effects and unique sounds. When used in conjunction with pitch controls you can create some truely unique sounds."

Diabolical Circuit Bent Alesis HR-16

via this auction

"This item is an Alesis HR-16 that has been custom painted and modified by James Gramling of Class A Electronics aka Diabolical Devices. It features the Diabolical Devices original LED patch grid and pitch modification. When no modifications are activated this machine will act like a regular HR-16.

Modifications:

Pitch/CLK speed adjust: This modification is by-passable and affects all drum sounds but NOT the tempo. It works by adjusting the clock speed the sampled sounds are playing back at and at lower clock speeds has a bit reduction effect. Led indicates pitch control status.

LED Patch Grid: This is similar to our typical Circuit-Bending ROM interface but requires only a single LED patch pin to link two bending points. The LED falshes different colors and reacts to the ROM data present at that location. Multiple pins can be used at once. This item includes (4) LED patch pins.

This item comes with 9 VAC Power supply (US customers only) and (4) LED patch pins. International shipping is $55 worldwide. Please email any questions."

Circuit Bent Roland TR-505

"Diabolical Modified Roland TR-505 Drum Machine:

Here we have a Circuit Bent Roland TR-505 with custom case and paint mega modified by James Gramling of Class A Electronics aka Diabolical Devices. Like to 505 itself the mods are a stripped down version of the TR-707 mods we are "famous" for. Check out Diabolical Devices on the web.

TR-505 Modification:

(6) Pitch/CLK speed controls were added they affect each sound/group individually and cover all sounds except for Hi-Hat and Cymbals. These controls affect the pitch by Changing the clock speed of the sampled sounds playback, at lower speeds you get a really cool bit-reduction, think Linndrum or the spongy snare sound in early Prince stuff.

(6) 1/4" Individual Line Outputs with level controls. These outputs correspond to each of the pitch controls and cover all the same sounds/groups. When an output is used that sound is removed from the MAIN MIX (master output) which allows you to mix/or process some sounds independently.

10 point Circuit Bending ROM interface (Banana Jacks) This patch bay allows you access to a ton of unique effects by scrambling ROM data as the machiine is playing a sound back. Linking patc points with provided cables will generate a wide range of effects including distortions, filtered sounds, ring mods and more. The affect all sounds in most cases.

This item includes Patch cables, Power supply, original Roland instruction manual, and mod instruction. International shipping is $65 worldwide."

"A tonal exploration of the circuit bent Casio SK-8 or Concertmate 800.

This is a Diabolical devices bent Concertmate 800 that I commisioned them to build for me.
The two switches with pots on the left end of the keyboard are for the additional oscillator and LFO circuits.
The patchbay for the unit is external and mounted just out of frame above the 3XFX mod box, shown at the end of the video with the flashing lights.
The 3XFX mod box has four switch sections and two led / photo resistor sections, I am using three switch sections in this video.

Korg Z1 and ER-1 mk II make an audio appearance toward the middle of the video."

Diabolical Devices CIRCUIT BENT Casio SK-1

via this auction

"This is a professionally circuit-bent Realistic Concertmate 500, which is the same synth as the famed Casio SK-1, just sold under a different brand name.

It was circuit bent by Diabolical Devices in the US, who are famed all over the world for their circuit-bending prowess.

It features a 20 point patch bay, 6 mystery switches on the side that muzz up the sound and cause all sorts of strange effects.

The patch bay allows you to connect one part of the circuit with another, to produce strange mutations in the sound generation process. You can't damage the machine like this.

It has an internal LFO (controlled by the second large knob from the left) that is patchable to any of the points via the purple patch hole, and a light sensor on the right whose sensitivity is controlled by the leftmost big knob.

This is also patchable into the bay via the blue patch hole.

The two metal switches on the far right control whether these controls are active or not, and this is indicated by the lights next to them turning blue or red.

As with all circuit bent devices, some combinations will crash the keyboard and you'll have to restart it - possibly also sticking on some amazing sound in the process.

The best thing is just to play around until you get something good, then record it.

All the normal Casio SK-1 functions are still active - with all the controls turned off, and no patches, this is just like a regular SK-1.

It comes with three high-quality patch cables, and a power adaptor (7.5v).

It would be perfect for anyone looking for new and exciting sounds that cannot be made any other way!"

3XFX mod box

YouTube Uploaded by ISOTROPOSPHERE on Sep 7, 2011

"This is a mod box I commissioned to have built by 3XFX as a companion to a prior 3XFX mod box I purchased on the Bay way back when he was making them.

The mod box also provides a switched patch connection (x4) to assist in triggering bends on my Diabolical Devices bent Casio SK-8 as they dont have a switch matrix on the patch bay like the Tablebeast bent Casio SK-1 and SK-5.

The 3XFX mod box features two LEDicles from Bleep Labs which are controlled by 555 timers and the large dial pots on the box for speed. The LEDicles are also able to be triggered by the pushbutton switch for each.
Each LEDicle has an Opto-sensor below it on the box which is tied to the two rca points below each sensor for resistance bending. Then the 4 way switch matrix for rca bend points on the Casio's.

Korg ER-1 mkII and Korg ES-1 mkII providing back up for the Casio SK-1 bent by Tablebeast.

Just a video showcasing the 3XFX mod box and some experimenting. Enjoy!!!"

via this auction
See the seller's other items for more.

"Circuit-Bent Alesis HR-16 by Diabolical Devices

This mega modified Alesis HR-16 is the first in a short series of HR mods in custom enclosures and loaded with features. The HR-16 is filled with circuit-bent craziness and unique drum/synth sounds. Check out the description of features below. When none of the modifications are engaged this machine functions like a 100% stock hr-16

Custom HR-16 FEATURES:

Circuit-Bending Interface: 1/8" patch-bay allow you access to bendable ROM locations. Linking these points with patch cables will generate a wide range off effects, synth tones, new sounds, and unique sound-scapes. The HR-16 is particularly responsive to CB mods and has one of the widest ranges in sound for a circuit-bent drum machine. Patch-bay also has 3 points joined for mulit patching, and the entire patch-bay is backlight with multi-color flashing LEDs. Leds randomly blink and fade into just about every color in the spectrum.

Patchable Components: (6) Patchable toggle switches and (1) patchable potentiometer allow you to control when bending points are linked and fine-tune some bends.

Dual Oscillator: Audio Frequency oscillator and LFO . When patched to particular locations this will generate tunable overtones and other unique sounds.

CLK/Master Pitch Control: Master pitch controls affects the pitch of all drum sounds but not the tempo of pattern of speed of other functions. Pitch ranges from well above to WAY below normal pitch, at low pitches you can get some really gritty bit-reduction sounds. Pitch is controlled with LED fader and features by-pass switch."
