[Dr. Blankenstein on eBay (RSS)]

Atari Punk Console Deluxe v2.0... Pretty much a super Atari stylized APC with a TON of tricked out features. There are two photo Theremin style motion / light sensors to control the sound, as well as a control switches to use a classic APC knob setup. Each light sensor can be turned on and off independently.

To add even more weird control to this sucker I have added SIX BODY contacts that allow for some pretty cool sound manipulation (see video below). Two of the body contacts are running through a specially designed Germanium Diode circuit that you will ONLY find on Dr. Blankenstein's APC Deluxe V2.0.

There is also a 1/8" Control Voltage (C.V.) Input so that it can be sequenced with an analog sequencer / modular synth setup or even modulate the sound by connecting a piezo trigger to it... fun stuff! :)

Another exciting addition to version v2 is the On / Off Momentary switch on the top of the piece, this allows the player to rhythmically stutter in the sound in! Of course there is still the standard On / Off power switch by the Atari logo as well. The side knob controls the master volume, and their is a 1/4" output jack on the back of the unit.

All in all... this is one of the nicest built, most feature stocked, MOST PLAYABLE VERSION OF THE ATARI PUNK CONSOLE out there today. But don't take my word for it... watch the video. Point is, this is NOT your grandmothers APC! :)

- 2 Motion / Light Sensitive Theremin like top mounted sensors
- 2 Light sensor On / Off Switches
- 2 Square Wave Synth Control Knobs
- Momentary Stutter ON/OFF switch
- Standard ON/OFF switch
- Cool Color Changing / Randomly changing how it flashes mounted power LED
- 1/8" Control Voltage Sequencer / Piezo Input
- 6 Body Contact points for pitch change and other glitch effects
- 1/4" Mono Output Jack
- Volume Control knob
- 9V Battery Powered
- Original PCB Design / Etching

Skrillex - First of The Year "Circuit Bent Dubstep Caterpillar" Remix !

"Skrillex - First of The Year "Circuit Bent Dubstep Caterpillar" Remix !

Ok, before everyone goes off on I like or dislike Skrillex debate like they do on ALL youtube videos.... please realize that this particular piece really has a thing for dubstep and I couldn't think of anyone better to remix with him than Skrillex. That's it, nothing more... nothing less.

There are two kinds of music... good music and bad music, it's up to the listener to decide. This piece is cool... this entire video was done without even using the alphabet speaking features of the circuit bent caterpillar. I might even have to do another version with more features of the piece going. BUT anyway... there is NO AUTOTUNE, this is just a live recording of the piece edited into the Skrillex video.

I will probably put the Caterpillar up for sale on eBay pretty soon.. stay tune for more videos and weird Dr. Blankenstein creations. Thanks for watching :)"

Moog Factory Tour - History of the Theremin w/ Les Claypool / Primus

Published on Nov 13, 2012 by DoctorBlankenstein

"This video has a little bit of everything... lol It features a quick look behind the scenes at the Moog Factory in Asheville, NC. We have a little history of the Theremin, and a peek of one being made in the factory... all the while PRIMUS jamming in the Moog Sound Lab. There is even a rare little jam with Les Claypool on electric drums and Jay Lane playing "Who's got the funk" on Les's acoustic bass! As I said... this video has everything! :)

The great folks at Moog Music were AMAZING! Asheville was AMAZING! Primus was AMAZING! Les Claypool is ALWAYS AMAZING (he even took a minute to pose for a picture goo.gl/pSisp )!

Thanks everyone... What an overall AMAZING time! :)"

Hal 9000 "2001 Space Odyssey" Replica Hand Built by Dr. Blankenstein

Published on Nov 12, 2012 by DoctorBlankenstein

"Hal 9000 from Stanley Kubrick's "2001 Space Odyssey" Circuit Bent Replica Hand Built by Dr. Blankenstein

Case is hand framed in wood, top and button layered in plexi-glass, covered in a "movie set perfect" design of Hal 9000's eye, 1/8" mono output jack, momentary on / off stutter switch, pitch adjust knob, and two hidden touch points which can be used to distort and change the pitch of the sample. Hal's eye flickers and strobes to the changes in the sound.

I am a huge fan of this movie... well all of Stanley's Kubrick's movie's actually (even Eye's wide shut and AI lol). I had this idea while watching the "daisy scene" on YouTube and just HAD TO BUILD IT! lol It's a one of a kind piece as of now, but I might do another version of it with the "daisy" sample in it instead... and maybe even an iPod input jack ;) Stay tuned, make sure to subscibe and thanks for watching."

& Tequila:

Circuit Bent "Tequila" Song Remix / Drone Synth - Designed by Dr. Blankenstein

Published on Nov 12, 2012 by DoctorBlankenstein

"Circuit Bent "Tequila" Song (Pee-Wee Herman dance song from the 80's lol) Remix / Drone Synth - Designed by Dr. Blankenstein

Some of us remember this song from Pee-Wee Harman's "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure" movie... it's the song they play in the biker bar when he does his famous dance on top of a table. The song is by the band "The Champs".

So... this synth plays 15 seconds of the song, and has a all original / one of a kind crazy Jose Cuervo / wacky Mexican style design. This piece started a musical greeting card and new sports a 1/4 output jack, momentary on / off stutter button, A pitch control knob in line with two body contacts... one will distort the sound... both will change the pitch. Next to the right of the box is a On / Off switch to activate the modulation effect.. this also has it's own set of body contact. Together they can get a huge variety of sounds out of a little monster of a circuit bent synth.

Be sure to subscribe to my channel for more circuit bent / designer synth videos.. Thanks for watching."

"Sonic Crusher" built for Squarepusher - For MoogFest 2012 by Dr. Blankenstein

"'Sonic Crusher' built for Squarepusher for MoogFest 2012 by Dr. Blankenstein

Ok, trying to make lightning strike twice over here. Is it truly possible that I am to give two of my biggest musical influences custom gear in THE SAME YEAR!? We shall see... This piece is for techno extraordinaire and bass guitar god Squarepusher (Tom Jenkinson ).

The piece came out pretty sick if I may say so myself. Stylized to death in a true Squarepusher fashion... visually and sonicly. It features two sets of body contacts, one for the warp function and the other is a capacitor based "voltage starve" effect. 5 switches the mangle and WARP the sound in different ways (too many to list), sound sensitive red LED, a selectable motion sensor (light sensor) / WARP knob, momentary on / off stutter switch, 1/4" input and output and a On / Off switch... STOCKED! ;)

The demo video shows both how it works on a voice and on music... the voice is the most recent presidential debate... the audio is from Squarepusher - Ufabulum "Dark Steering". An epic album.. if you don't have it already... BUY IT!

I just couldn't go to MoogFest empty handed... :) I of course have no idea how I am going to get it to him, but like the Kraftwerk piece... I figured YouTube was probably a good place to start.

So on again I ask... if anyone knows of how to get a message to Tom, please send me a message here or at my website. I am really excited to give him this gift, I think he will dig it... and it was my pleasure designing and building it for him. Thank you in advance for your help!

Background Music: Squarepusher "Untitled" / "WAP155" / "Do you know Squarepusher"

Dr Blankenstein Circuit Bent Fender Stratocaster Guitar

Circuit Bent Fender Stratocaster Guitar Demo 2 Published on Oct 22, 2012 by DoctorBlankenstein

http://www.drBlankenstein.com

"This video is of a Modified Fender Stratocaster Guitar. It has Dr. Blankenstein's ILLUMIRINGER Motion Controlled Ring Modulator built directly into the guitar under the pick guard!

I felt (and maybe acted) a bit like the late great crocodile hunter in this video... well that is pretty much how I felt when I plugged this sucker in. Not having any idea what strange sound I was going to be able to produce next, and with each new one (as usual) I grow more excited. What can I say... I seriously love this stuff! haha

This is the video of it's FIRST EVER (I'm too excited to string it) single guitar string demo! Actually that is a good thing to keep in mind while watching it, notice how many octaves I am able to get... the string in the video is a high E string... fretted at G (ahhh who cares, this is a rock n' roll test after all). The point is... make sure to take NOTE.

I will be putting up more videos of this mod, including one with delay and distortion... as well as six strings. This could very well be the first kit to hit http://www.drBlankenstein.com ... I guess it depends on feedback I get... so please make sure to leave comments and subscribe. Thanks for watching! :)"

Dr. Blankenstein Atari Punk Consoles in Classic Atari Styles

Dr. Blankenstein demos the Atari Punk Console (APC) / Module DELUXE!

Atari Punk Console Deluxe 1.5

Published on Aug 22, 2012 by DoctorBlankenstein

via this auction and this auction.
Space invaders pics below.

DESCRIPTION: Up for auction is Dr. Blankenstein's Atari Punk Console Deluxe v1.0 "Atari 2600". Pretty much a super Atari stylized APC with a bunch of tricked out features. There is a photo theremin style motion / light sensors to control the sound, as well as a control switch to use a classic APC knob setup.

To add even more weird control to this sucker I have added FIVE BODY contacts that allow for some pretty cool sound manipulation (see video below). The middle one is connected to a low voltage germanium diode distortion circuit, this is a mod I haven't seen on many other Atari Punk Consoles.

There is also a 1/8" Control Voltage (C.V.) Input so that it can be sequenced with an analog sequencer or even modulate the sound by connecting a piezo trigger to it... fun stuff!

The case is build of strong, built to last ABS plastic. The graphics were taken from the Atari 2600, stylized to make the box look almost like a mini game unit. People seem to really dig the faux wood sides, I would have to agree. ;)

Make sure to check out the video and pictures bellow...

FEATURES:

- 1 Motion / Light Sensitive Theremin like top mounted sensor
- 2 Square Wave Synth Control Knobs
- Standard ON/OFF switch
- Cool Color Changing / Randomly changing how it flashes mounted power LED
