Additional NOISEBUG Listings

"A module that has a few different functions, Sequencer, LFSR Noise generator, Semi random CV generator.

The LFSR2R refers to LFSR + R2R. A LFSR is a Linear Feedback Shift Register, and R/2R is a Resistor Netork that is used to convert digital binary outputs to voltages (DAC, Digital Analog Converter). This is what a Digital to analogue converter mostly uses. I chose this name because it its what is in the module + some more. It was not the goal when i started making this module, but it a nice name.

I developed it because i needed a sequencer that works good for drums, especially with the vu-perc modules. The vu-perc module responds to gate signals, and they hit harder or softer depending if the voltages of the gate signal is higher or lower.

This module has a CV input that can be used to modulate the voltage that comes out of all gate outputs (like the starving binary module). This way the volume of the vu-perc modules can be modulated.

There are two versions one with LED's sticking thru and one with LED's that light from the back. From the back it looks nicer but during day light it will be less visible. Thats why i made two versions T (8 step LED's are THT, they stick tru the top panel) And version S (SMD, the 8 step leds are on the PCB)."

Gijs Gieskes WD80 Solar Powered Touch Synth

video upload by Gijs Gieskes

via gieskes.nl

"A solar powered synth where the solar power is integrated into the interface.

The WD80 refers to WD40, my French neighbour made the joke that it sounds like it needs WD-40, so i decided a good name for it is WD40 (i changed it to WD80 because of personal reasons and because WD40 is copyrighted).

The idea behind this synth is that you power it from the sun, but that the power is not just providing power, but it also acts as part of the interface. When there is less light the voltage goes down and then the frequency is also going down. When you use the synth you can walk around and for instance a tree above you will make a shade with allot of branches, this will give nice modulations in the sound especially when the wind blows a little bit.

It is using resistive touch contacts, so you can turn on the sound on the left side with one finger and the sound of the right side with another finger. There are two switches to turn on the left and right side on permanently, but it will be less loud then when you touch it. it will also be a little low pass filtered it seems when the switches are closed. So then when you touch it the osund will be louder and teh lowpass with be gone while you touch it.

The potmeter starves the power of the IC (HEF40106). The socket is a DIP socket so you can also try other versions of the 40106 series, for instance the CD40106, it might sound different.

The circle is connected to a oscillator that runs by itself, it is not directly connected to the output, but it somehow effects it allot.

The 4 lines are connected to 2 schmitt trigger circuits of the 40106, the center two lines are connected to the outputs of the schmitt triggers.

The output can drive headphones, there is no volume control so if it is to loud for you or the volume is to low you can use other headphones. I am using Sennheiser HD480ii.

For use in concerts you can use a halogen light to power the synth, and because it uses you bodies resistance to transfer the sound you can get hum (50hz or 60hz). To reduce this hum you can use a hum reducer that i am also selling."

4/4/24 (swarm) Gieskes Klok & No Drum + Zerosum Inertia PLXNA2 + OAM Uncertainty + Lexicon PCM 70

video upload by Cfpp0

"Butterflies, bats, 16mm swarm: Gieskes Klok modulates itself and No Drum and Olivia Artz Modular Uncertainty, which modulates No Drum, while Klok gates No Drum."

You cand find additional Gieskes Kok module posts here.

This appears to be the first post to feature Olivia Artz Modular. Details on their modules follow via Perfect Circuit and Noisebug.

"Uncertainty from Olivia Artz Modular is a 2hp coin toss module; it is open source, with new, user-swappable firmware being developed. So, it will continue to grow and offer new functionality!

In the standard firmware, the top input accepts gates, triggers, or any signal between -5V and +5V. Based on whether the input is positive or negative, it uses two different types of logic to produce gates at the corresponding eight outputs. If the input is above +1V, then the module does eight differently-weighted "coin tosses"—one for each output. If the outcome of the toss is "heads," a +5V signal is output for as long as the input stays above 1V. If the input signal is -1V or lower, a slightly different coin toss algorithm is used, where the outputs are paired—if the result of the toss is "heads," the upper output of the pair in question sends out a signal, and if it's "tails," the lower outputs sends out a signal.

Alternate firmwares are available for free, and loading them is as easy as plugging in your module via the rear PCB USB connection, dragging on a file, and you're done. The first new official firmware is a VU meter—with the panel LEDs displaying the current voltage level, and each LED getting a dedicated gate output—somewhat like a multi-window comparator! Olivia Artz's Uncertainty module is a great way to add chance operations to your rack without sacrificing space.

UNCERTAINTY FEATURES

2HP chance module with alternate firmwares available
Default firmware uses two distinct coin toss algorithms to convert incoming bipolar signals into eight streams of outgoing gates
Open source
One CV input with 10-bit resolution
Eight gate outputs"

::ABOUT
?* is almost the same as the Zachtekind & ?Kind.
A walkman with extension circuit that is powered by the walkman itself, controlling the Walkmans playback speed with buttons linked to the potmeters next to them. It is a simple device that makes it possible to playback tape in very slow speed and switch between selected speeds, intuitive and playful.
it is stereo. Has a build in radio (AM/FM, no extra controls over this radio are added).

::Audio/CV
- input cv in for playback speed control -5v to +10v (example: 0v = low pitch, 5v is high pitch, so it is in reverse from normal).
- amount of CV can be adjusted with a potmeter.
- output audio out from walkman.

::Controls:
- 5x pot for playback speed per push button momentary switch.
- 1x ON/OFF toggle switch for 1st playback speed pot switch override.

::Power:

New Gieskes Klok Eurorack Module

video upload by Gijs Gieskes

via Gieskes

"This is a eurorack clock module with features related to a clock. On the left you have the audio output that is the sound that the clock makes, it is amplified via a piezo, the piezo is gated via a vactrol witha build in envelope. The clock can be advanced interlay via the build in LFO, but it can also be advanced via a external gate signal. There is a volume pot for the volume of the clock.

The center input goes via the volume potmeter above it to the vactrol, here you can put in external signals, these will be mixed in with the sound of the clock and gated with the vactrol.

Then there are two outputs for the LFO, they are one square wave and one sort of triangle wave. The potmeter above them sets the speed, when turned all the way to the left the LFO will stop oscillating and hold its state.

Specification:
+12v (Power consumption should be not much, maybe 100ma)
-12v (maybe 20ma?)
Width is 12HP"

Vu Perc Relay

video upload by ggijs

VU Perc Relay

Percussion with a VU meter and a relay for eurorack

https://gieskes.nl/eurorack/?file=vu-perc-relay

via the user manual

"VU-PERC-RELAY MANUAL (MAY 2022)

_ABOUT:
The vu-perc-relay is a drum sound module for eurorack that uses a vu meter to hit something (in this case a copper strip and a LED leg) that is connected to a piezo element.
And a relay is triggered and amplified via another piezo element.

_IMPORTANT:
Stripped tubing from a electrical wire is put over the tip of the vu meters hitter, this prevents the vu meter from making direct contact with the spring.
If the hitter makes direct contact with the spinge there will be a large click, because its sort of short circuiting a bit.
So make sure the hitter is hitting the spring in the correct position.

_VU METER CENTERING:
There is a trimmer potmeter that you can use to set the center position for the vu meter,
the vu meter moves left and right to hit the different metal parts.

_CROSS FADE TRIMMER
There is a small trimmer on the board that holds the relay and the vu meter, this can be used to croos fade between the vu meter and the relay,
it does not really cross fade the volume that much, it will just make one less dominant in how sharp it sounds.

Gieskes 4Swing

video upload by ggijs

4 Step Swing Sequencer with many features

3 different versions available.

https://gieskes.nl/eurorack/?file=4swing

via the user manual

"A module that has multiple functions, VCO/VCLFO (1v octave), sequencer, clock divider, swing..

The 4Swing refers to "for swing" and it has 4 steps. The module can do quite a bit of different things. It can be a clock divider, VCO, VCLFO, sequencer with swing or without.

I developed it because it wanted a DIY version of the Doepfer A-147, a module I use allot. But then in combination with a simple sequencer/clock divider, basically a setup i use almost always but then in one module, a bit like this module i used to use allot. The Motor Bin module uses a binary clock divider, but the 4Swing uses a 4017 (decade counter/step sequencer), so it's a bit different. The reason for this is that i wanted swing (i used to use Groove allot in LSDj, i think it would be great to have more swing in my eurorack) and you cannot have swing with a binary clock divider.. i think.
