WITH MIDI

YouTube via bluelantern320 via orange_LED on the forum. On Ebay
"THIS IS DEMONSTRATING A SALAMANDER PROTOTYPE SYNTH WITH A NEWT 10 STEPPER, AND POLIVOKS VCF."
"I made 10 step sequencers based on Counter CMOS CHIP CD4017. In this demo, i use the polivoks vcf, a prototype Salamander Modular Synth, and the NEWT (brick red box). The Salamander has a Midi-2-cv converter. That is how i was able to play with a midi keyboard."

POLIVOKS Soviet Minimoog Analog synth

via this auction
"Polivoks was designed by an engineering team lead by Vladimir Kuzmin from the Urals Vector Company later built by Formanta Radio Plant in the early 80's.
• This auction synth was made in July 1988 in USSR. Serial Number: 0788009
• Polivoks is one of the most popular vintage synths today because of its history and extraordinary industrial look. Many consider its sound capabilities to be comparable to a MiniMoog.
• POLIVOKS is a polyphonic 2 OSC analog synthesizer. It features a unique set of electronic parts, reliable keyboard (49 notes F–E) made in magnetically controlled contacts; synthesis modules consist of independent boards, which is convenient for maintenance.
• The synthesizer has 2-voices polyphony; each oscillator works with a keyboard note independently.
• Polivoks is housed in an original body of uncommon design with handy controls.
• Two types of filters – bandpass/lowpass and external input for cutoff control.
• Connection on the rear panel : on/off switch, OUTPUT on standard 1/4''jack, INPUT and Pedal input with 5-Din connectors, PHONES with 5-Din connector, power wire connection (220V), fuse (0,5A) ."

"This was originally intended to be a demo of the my tube VCA module, but it kinda turned into this weird sequenced thinger.

Synth 1 -
XRVCO Triangle to wavefoler, XRVCO square -1 octave both go to MS20 VCF and then into the pentode tube VCA.

Synth 1 - SNVoice 25% square to Polivoks VCF into pentode VCA. Sounds strangely syncish.

Synth 3 - VCO 1 into Wasp filter and then into boring old VCA.

meh."

NEW POLIVOKS CLONE VCF COmING SOON

via orange_LED on the forum. Note the image here is actually The Toad (listed for auction here) referenced below, and not the new filter.

"I finished a prototype of this filter and have the pcb laid out already. It is a matter of meeting my budget to have these made. Most likely it will be released late November early december.
Here's the Info.
-it will be self powered and an External VCF for your Modular or DJ/VSt/VA filtering purposes. it will come with a Wall wart plug.
-it has Line Level boosters so if you plug in a 'low' level signal it has a Gain Knob to amplify it. If you do that to a high Synth Level signal you will make a cool distorted signal. It is possible to plug in a guitar direct and amplify.
-there will be 2 of those Boosters and they will have an final 'input' Knob to fine tune Distorted (just the way you want it)sound going into the VCF and Attenuate. Otherwise if you cranked the GAIN all the way it would be over kill sound going direct to the vcf with no way to adjust it. The whole sound input thing was all well thought out.
-it will have (1) onboard LFO, a slim down version of the TOAD lfo.
-I figured out a REZ HACK FOR THIS TOO! there will be 2 switches to give you different flavors of the unique Rez on this thing.
-all the inputs/outputs wil be 1/4" phono
-it will look like the same design as the Toad (lexan and wood) and be called a 'the Tadpole VCF'.
-The size is a little smaller than a DR670 drum machine.
-I have to build one from the final PCB and see about parts/etc before I decide on a price. The goal is to sell it less then 200.00
**Here's more happy news: I got all worked up about this external vcf idea and already have an EMS VCF clone laid out also But I only managed to cram the VCF only, no onboard LFO"

POLIVOKS

images at this auction
"The Polyvox is a duophonic analog synthesizer, with a 49-note (F-E) keyboard. It was made and sold in Russia (then USSR). It features two VCOs, a noise generator, one LFO, a filter (low-pass and bandpass), and two ADSR envelope generators. VCO1 can be cross-modulated by VCO2. Each ADSR can be switched to auto-trigger, each with independent rates. The sound is quite rich and somewhat harsh and aggressive. This is more of a space-synth. You can be sure that you will have never heard the sounds this one can produce. It sounds like these old Yamaha CS-30's, but then fat filters like in Moogs. Polyvox comes with a lockable hard shock resistant aluminum case covered with plastic, also there are two plastic compartments attached to the inside." see the seller's other items for more.

Synth: AFG vs SH-2 vs Massive.

via VAC where you'll find the sample. "Sh2 pulse, saw, and sine with sub osc. Afg pulse, saw, and sine with sub osc. I used the rs 60 env, i plugged the afg into the polivoks, set the polivoks and the sh2 with the same env settings to the filter etc. Runs through the doepfer vca a131. on both the sh2, and afg, i left the filter wide open. I think they both sound good, but i prefer the sh2, it has this fatter sound i think. more smooth. What do you think? I recorded these through my mackie onyx mixer, and into my rme fireface 800 into logic 8."

Cwejman MX-4S, MMF-4, PH-4, PlanB, Doepfer, and Harvestman

YouTube via dkimcg
"I really liked the trapazoid generator in the last video, but it didn't quite fit my current workflow. So I replaced it with the PH-4 and a few other modules. The Cwejman PH-4 is a beautiful 4 phase LFO, it outputs 4 phases of one LFO at 90 degree invervals. It's excellent for panning. Here I'm testing out some stereo panning tricks with the PH-4. It and the Doepfer 143-1 Complex Envelope Generator/LFO are modulating the filters and the 143-1 is controlling one of the gates in the M13 Dual Timbral Gate. The Model 10 Polyphonic Envelope Generator controls the other gate. In addition to the Cwejman MMF-4, the PlanB Model 11 Evil Twin and Harvestman Polivoks filters are used. MFB Seq-01 sequences. and triggers the 143-1, Model 10, and Jomox MBase01 for the kick.

The MMF-4 is one sweet module for panning and VC for filters.

I thought the last video I uploaded was just too dorky sounding. I tried to make this one sound "cool". Put on yer sunglasses kinda cool."
