Bastl is a Czech term for DIY that describes a particular era of eastern-bloc underground artists who worked heavily with electronics. This is a “modern Bastl” workshop for total beginners to learn about the modern approach to making art with electronics and open source hardware/software.
The workshop will focus around building your open-source synthesizer fraAngelico or drum synthesizer with sequencer frauAngelico or granular sampler microGranny, that you will take home with you after the workshop.

Microgranny and Blackdeath test jam

Blackdeath Plague synth (wormcode edition) bought complete.

Testing these two micro samplers in a fun little jam session.

Microgranny is playing the gong sound, actually a slowed cymbal sound sample.

Blackdeath is processing the last hockey game our local team won.

Backing track and filter fun coming from the Anushri synth.

Blackdeath took a few hours to dial in to the sweet spot I like, bonus points to those who can name the hockey team on the broadcast.

Extra credit if you know the broadcaster's name."

With this powerful tool it became part of many art installations and enabled our research team to build prototypes of many different devices most importantly musical instruments. The whole concept of Standuino is inspired and covered by the story of a pioneer of media art – Standa Filip. The name Standuino goes mainly from Standas name but also stands for what Standuino is best at – the standalone applications."
