DSI Poly Evolver vs Alesis Micron

YouTube Published on May 24, 2012 by Gtechture
Anyone with a PEK confirm the issues he's having with the envelopes?

"This is a comparison of Dave Smith's Poly Evolver keyboard ($2,700) and Alesis' Micron ($399). The Synths sound remarkably similar. The DSI has a brassy character while the Micron is more subdued and plastic but these differences are very subtle. You will notice immediately that the Poly Evolver lacks low end and cannot re-trigger its envelopes like the digital Alesis. The differences were more apparent to me while watching this video. Overall the sounds are practically identical which was pretty surprising to me."

Note this video only focuses on one type of sound. Most synths do have overlap. Be sure to research each synth before making any judgements. Two areas where the Micron/Ion and the Evolver/PEK do not overlap would be the number of filter types on the Micron/Ion and the Prophet-VS waveforms on the Evolver/PEK. There are more of course. I am curious about the comments regarding the envelopes not re-triggering on the PEK. I thought maybe Gtechture did not have the envelope set to one of the Retrig modes. I asked and he replied "Thanks for bringing that to my attention! I still have problems with that setting, the envelopes just dont fully re-trigger. The only way i can resolve it is to reduce te release times." If anyone out there with a PEK knows, feel free to comment.

Gotharman's Little deFormer - Presets without clicks

YouTube Published on May 26, 2012 by gotharman

"When I recorded the previous preset video, playing back a few presets on my Little deFormer Limited edition, there was unfortunately a bug in its firmware, which caused it to create a click when changing preset, while the sequencer was running. This bug is now fixed. In this video, I am also editing the sequencer and effects a little. More info:

Modded Roland TR-606 Vintage Analogue Drum Machine SN 091900

"This unit has been modified (Similar to Kenton / Analogue Solution's Mods) to include:
Seperate outputs for each drum sound (Run each sound into a seperate channel on your mixer for perfect EQ & Recording or each sound into different effect units!)
1/4" input jack for remote On/Off (e.g. footpedal control - perfect for solo artists playing keyboards or guitars!)
Isolated On/Off switch (No more accidentally switching off the unit when fading the volume out!)

The TR-606 is a fantastic little drum machine that was sold along side the legendary TB-303. It was designed small, light and compact, which to me makes it The Choice for live performances over its big brothers the TR808 & TR909. The unit itself has the ability to be used for a Din Sync controller as well as having 2 CV/Gate triggers, making it a perfect tool for bringing out more in any analogue synth!"
