Happy Nerding TR909 analogue drums emulation

video upload by Happy Nerding

"All drum voices are enhanced with additional controls and ranges over Tune, Attack and Decay. Thus possible variations in drum sound are far beyond that of the original TR909. Bass Drum produce standard emulation on the Left output, and its overdriven copy the Right output. Snare and Tom have low frequency punch added to the Right output. Rimshot produce standard emulation on the Left output, and a bit modified on the Right output. Both channels are in phase, so can be crossfaded/mixed for additional variations. Clap is stereo, so can be used with the extra space. Trig input to be connected to the Left input."

Happy Nerding 3x VCA 2/2: Modulation Depth, Tremolo, & Auto-Pan

Published on Mar 24, 2019 Learning Modular

"This second of two movies on the Happy Nerding 3x VCA. It focuses on using VCAs to control modulation depth, including filter wah, FM, tremolo, and auto-panning. The 3x VCA’s bipolar attenuators and offset controls (as well as internal mixing) makes it easier to patch these applications without the need for external CV utility mixers. The video breaks down like this:

0:12 controlling modulation depth
2:25 patching tremolo
4:33 stereo tremolo/autopanning

Monster Patch Demo: KARP

Published on May 11, 2020 Learning Modular

"This was the first patch demonstrated during the 'Patching the Monster' live webcast [below] with Chris Meyer of LearningModular.com, Ben 'DivKid' Wilson, and Kim 'Bjooks' Bjørn.

The arpeggiator in a Korg taktile 49 keyboard controller is driving a Mutable Instruments Rings, 2hp Pluck, and an analog synth voice consisting of a Birdkids TheBateleur, Livewire AFG, Rossum Evolution, and Erogenous Tones VC8, modulated by an Ian Fritz Hypster, Befaco VC ADSR, and Erogenous Tones RADAR. Voltage-controlled panning is from a Happy Nerding PanMix; reverb is from a Happy Nerding FX Aid.

The patch diagram for this is available on the Patch & Tweak website: http://editor.patchandtweak.com/patch...

It is also broken down in detail on the Learning Modular Patreon channel: https://www.patreon.com/posts/37007415"

Happy Nerding 3xMIA patched as ordinary attenuator

Published on Nov 28, 2017 Happy Nerding

"3xMIA can be easily patched as ordinary attenuator – just split your signal and patch it to both A and B inputs, then twist the outer knob to max “+” position and the inner knob to max “-” position. Now rotating the inner knob will gradually raise the signal, as does the ordinary attenuator. This patch also gives you 2x amplification, gain reduction at fully CCW is around 60 dB."

Happy Nerding 2xSAM as Send - Return

Published on Aug 20, 2019 Happy Nerding

"Section 1 works as a stereo attenuator and adjusts the send level for the BigSky.
Section 2 works as a stereo return level control and is set for 5x times amplification to bring BigSky’s line levels back to the modular amplitude.
The mix is recorded from section 2 outputs. Total mix outputs (1+2) are not used."

"2xSAM is 4 HP Dual Stereo Attenuator-Mixer

– Separate stereo outputs for attenuator duties

– Stereo mixer output

– Optional 5x gain for each input to raise line levels to modular amplitude (jumpers on the backside)

– Clean (low noise and distortion) performance

– Right inputs are normalled to Left inputs for easy mono operation

– AC coupled inputs

– Several 2xSAMs can be chained together or with other HN stereo modules via sockets on the back side.

2xSAM’s total mix stereo output can be internally sent to the Isolator, PanMix Jr, 3xStereo Mixer, or can be received from OUT, PanMix, PanMix Jr, 3xStereo Mixer, or another 2xSAM.
