"Hi folks!

#chromagene & #polygene are two unique electronic instruments by ‪@genesynths‬ designed with an almost otherworldly character. Their unusual interfaces, tactile controls and organic, futuristic appearance make them feel less like conventional synthesizers and more like strange technological artifacts — objects recovered from a forgotten civilization somewhere between the distant past and an unknown future.

This recording is a live ambient improvisation, performed entirely in one take with no overdubs, no edits and no post-production. The sounds evolve slowly and organically, allowing the Chromagene and Polygene to interact like fragments of an ancient alien technology being brought back to life.

The idea behind the session was to imagine discovering these instruments as prehistoric extraterrestrial artifacts — remnants of an unknown intelligence, buried for millennia and somehow transported through time. Their strange textures, drones, resonances and evolving tones become a kind of sonic archaeology: a transmission from somewhere beyond our own timeline.

No overdubs. No rehearsed sequence. Just two strange instruments, one live improvisation, and a signal from a distant future.

In this piece, sound is not simply performed — it is discovered, shaped, and gently guided through shifting layers of time.

'forwards and backwards in time' is an ambient improvisation created with the Polygene II by Gene Synths.

The instrument itself feels less like a machine and more like a crafted artifact — a delicate fusion of art and sound design. Its finely detailed structure, almost ornamental in nature, reflects the sonic worlds it reveals: intricate, fragile, and deeply expressive.

Textures emerge like fragments of a submerged civilization, or like transmissions from a distant future. Each movement carries a sense of both memory and anticipation, as if the sound exists outside of linear time.

This improvisation embraces that ambiguity.
There is no fixed destination — only evolving patterns, subtle shifts, and moments that appear, dissolve, and reappear in altered form. The Polygene II becomes a medium rather than a tool, allowing intuition to lead the process.

"'Connect' is an atmospheric ambient session bringing three distinctive electronic instruments into a continuous dialogue: #woas , #chromagene and #polygene.

Floating synthesizer textures, subtle modulation and evolving tones create a spacious, organic soundscape that constantly shifts between delicate harmonics and abstract electronic textures. The Chromagene and Polygene form the sonic core, generating an ever-changing interplay of tone, movement and resonance.

Adding an organic pulse to the piece is the WOAS drum machine, featuring unusual percussion sounds with distinctive Tabla-like characteristics. These earthy, almost acoustic-sounding rhythms merge with the synthetic textures, creating a hypnotic flow between organic percussion and experimental electronic sound.

Rather than following a conventional song structure, “Connect” is an improvised sonic journey — a meeting point between ambient, electronic experimentation and organic rhythm.
