Welcome to Episode Two of Patch from Scratch featuring the Moog Subharmonicon and Moog Mother 32! In this video I create yet another ambient patch with helpful on-screen text along the way.

This patch is similar to my first Patch from Scratch where I make use of the Assign (step random) output on the Mother 32. I'm really having fun making patches with it so I thought I would make another similar one. I still consider myself a beginner when it comes to patching, so hopefully I continue to improve as I continue to make these videos! Either way, I hope you enjoy it!

3. Patch from Scratch 3: Modular Ambient Wind Chimes - Moog Subharmonicon, Mother 32

Welcome to episode 3 of Patch from Scratch! Today we begin our modular journey entirely from scratch starting with the Subharmonicon and then moving on to the Moog Mother 32. I end up making what I called Analog Wind Chimes - a sparse, random dance of plucked melody between the two synths. Adding some delay from Logic Pro and Valhalla Supermassive helps put the icing on top.

Hello! I can't find a PS5 yet, so I made this music cover of Demon's Souls :) As I find myself watching gameplay of Demon's Souls, I stumbled across this character creation music and absolutely fell in love with it! I really love melodic ambient music, especially with a dark undertone.

Also, if you're a follower of this channel, you may notice I have a new synth! The KORG Volca FM! I've always wanted an FM synthesizer and I ended up getting one for Christmas! I'm still getting used to it, but am happy to debut it with such an awesome video game music cover. I hope you enjoy it!"

I introduced the Korg Volca FM to the Eurorack modules and now they've become friends.

Patch Notes:
Volca FM sends clock to Marbles via sync out. Marbles triggers Plaits. Marbles modulates the Harmonics, Timbre, and Morph of Plaits (Veils attenuates some of these signals). Volca FM and Plaits are mixed by Hyrlo. Hyrlo goes into QPAS for stereo imaging / filtering, which then goes into Beads.

Processing:
Compression, Saturation, Valhalla Room and Valhalla Shimmer reverb"

Michael Jackson - Thriller (Synth Cover)

"This is my synth cover of Michael Jackson's Thriller. Every sound was created entirely on the Korg Minilogue analog synthesizer. This was a big project to take on, having to re-create the original song entirely from scratch and to get each sound as close to the original as possible. It definitely shows how versatile the Korg Minilogue is!

All synth sounds were created from scratch by me, on the Korg Minilogue. For the drums, I layered multiple single hit samples together to get the desired sound. It was a lot of trial an error!

I recorded each sound separately onto its own track in Logic Pro X. Once everything was tracked, it was mixed and mastered in Logic Pro X by me.

"Hello! Today's video features the Moog Subharmonicon and Mother 32 with some experimental granular effects. Spectral Dronemaker is taking the input from the Mother 32 and turning into a long stretched out drone sound (granular synthesis). A copy of the waveform is layered with the original, and near the end of the track the Dronemaker layer becomes dominant. Valhalla Shimmer provides the rich and lush reverb creating a beautiful spacial atmosphere.

Decided to really turn Beads up to 11 with the Mother 32. The Moog Subharmonicon plays the lower pads while the Mother 32 plays a sequenced lead overtop, but the sequence's speed and cutoff is being modulated randomly. From the Mother 32 into QPAS for stereo and then into Beads for all of that lush reverb and pitch changes."

"Hello! Here's another ambient patch using Rings and Beads. Marbles triggers Plaits which goes into Beads which is reversing the input from Plaits. With the reverb mix more than 50% it allows Plaits to sit in the background. Marbles also triggers Rings which plays more sparsely allowing it to sit on top of the softer foundation of Plaits and Beads. I hope you enjoy it!"

The LFO rate on the Mother 32 is being controlled by the sequencer of the subharmonicon, so you get some cool varying modulation."

Ambient Mood - Rain (Korg Minilogue and Moog Mother 32)

"I wanted to work with some natural ambience so I found a recording of rain I had and layered it with some ambient pads from the Korg Minilogue. The Mother 32 is playing a randomized sequence with a random tempo, which is then fed through a granular plugin which which basically smears and stretches the notes into pad-like sounds. Everything is then drowned in reverb.

I'm quite happy with the result, so I may experiment with more minimal ambient music overtop of natural sounds, like waves, wind, etc. Thanks for listening!

Just experimenting with a variation of the hemispheres firmware with an applet called the Harmonizer. I created a sequence on the Mother 32 and am sending the keyboard CV to Harmonizer. Harmonizer outputs different CV values based off a user-selected scale. One of the outputs goes into the v/oct input of Plaits to create a harmony with the Mother 32.

"Hello! Here's my synth cover of Dark Souls - Firelink Shrine played on the Korg Minilogue and the Volca FM. I really love the dark, ambient nature of this song and felt it would be a perfect fit for me to cover. The minilogue handles the ambient pads while the Volca FM plays the role of the harp. I absolutely love the second half of this song and the Volca FM handles it beautifully - I am really happy with the tone and how it turned out.

The cover is very true to the original song, with some minor differences I added for my own personal preference. I hope you enjoy it!"
