Short story...Moog patch settings and a new song from mik300z

YouTube Uploaded by mik300z on Dec 19, 2011

"wow, can't believe the response I got from the weekends video of a moog doing a CS80 emulation. This is a quick walkthrough of the settings, accompanied by a new song I put together in the last couple of days inspired by the sound and of course...Vangelis himself and all that went on at Nemo studios in London (hence the patch name!) All you LP owners please let me know if I left anything out,..A very merry Christmas to all of you who support me. It's been a difficult year, my wife has been seriously ill, apologies for not replying to emails:)
Mick."

YouTube Uploaded by mik300z on Apr 11, 2011

"Started this A few months ago with just the opening chords from the juno 6, lucky I kept theaudio and video of those, built the rest of the track around them and been working on it on and off since. I can now put it to bed! Cheers for listening:"

Moving

YouTube via willrobinsonensoniq — June 21, 2010 —

"While working on an 80's ballad, this song came into fruition. With a little inspiration from my fellow You Tuber's.

And you will understand.
I use the basic "four on the floor" bass drum to get the show started with the TS 12's Patch-Cord siren sound. Add some high-hat and delayed snare with a bass line and we are off to the late 70's early 80's.

The usual influences are there; Go West, Vibraphonic, Duran Duran, and The Rippingtons to name a few.
Let's all have a fun Summer. Ballad to follow later on..."

LFO Electric piano from the Juno G

YouTube via mik300z
"Just a rambling tune demonstrating one of the G's best sound banks i.e Piano. played through the ESQ 1 and a bottle of wine:) Some of the vintage elec. pianos are good, this is my favourite, has a really warm vintage sound that may not come across too well on youtube audio"

Roland JP 4 not working ...any suggestions?

YouTube via mik300z
"Any ideas synthheads? It has been stored in a cold/damp environment for over a year or so . It may be voice chips but I think I may have heard 4 notes simultaneously. Notes will not release at all, hold button in off position. I am downloading owners and service manuals to see if they are of any help."

Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene Live Review

Check out the full review by mik300z at the forum.

"And just for us synth heads, there was a cs80 in his setup which he only used for a "thunder" like sound, the very same one Vangels uses in "Himalaya" from the china album. That along with a jupiter 8, ARP 2500, minimoog, some modular synths I don't know the name of, and all the other gear it was worth every penny of the ticket price just to see them!"

live improv. (Ghosts of nemo part 2)

YouTube via mik300z
A little intermission to calm your NAMM neves down a bit. :)
Roland Juno-106 on top. Ensoniq ESQ-1 playing the CS80 type brass pad. KORG MicroKORG gets a little play time as well. Not sure what's on the bottom left as well as the others - if I had the time, I'd look.

Roland Juno 6 demo

YouTube via mik300z
"This few minutes only scratches the surface of the wierd and wonderful sounds the inspiring Juno can make. The differences between Juno 6, 60 and 106 are .....Juno 6 has arpeggiator but no patch memory/Juno 60 is much the same synth but has patch memory/ 106 has midi ..but sounds different and not as warm as the older Junos.
This Juno 6 has a kenton midi retrofit, enabling me to assign a midi channel and be in sequencer heaven!"

Vangelis Conquest of paradise (cover)

YouTube via mik300z
"My version of Vangelis' majestic masterpiece. The arturia cs80V that pops up in the video wasn't actually used for this track. I used the ESQ1 to re-create the lead sounds. I am trying to get my head around software and soft synths at the moment so it's only for show....for now lol! Heres the list of what did what.
Microkorg and Juno 106 -bass
Korg x5 - choir and pizzicato
Juno 6 - arpeggiator
Juno G- piano percussion and strings
Ensoniq ESQ 1- CS80 lead and sequencer"

Bladerunner atmosphere part 2 Desolation path

YouTube via mik300z. follow-up to this post
"Uploaded this a couple of weeks back, and removed it, apologies!! Anyway , here it is, the feedback from my other vangelis covers prompted me to take another view..."

ESQ1 Parameters for my Vangelis CS80 brass sounds

"the parameters in the video are for the patch which uses the mod. wheel to express the sound (my favourite)!.. By hitting the filter button and changing "wheel" to "env 2" you allow the patch to flow on its own. There are many variations of it, try experimenting with the LFO's and envelopes to suit . I find this patch with the mod wheel to be the best, certainly does not have the warmth of the CS80, but very inspiring.
The track I made for the video is the opening of "love is" by Jon and Vangelis"

John carpenter style noodle with p3 sequencer and minimoog

Published on Feb 15, 2013 mik300z·60 videos

"Hooked up the P3 to demonstrate it's ability to be creative with old skool sequencing, the minimoog is the only synth I can't midi , so just noodling with it;) Cheers for watching!"

Vangelis approach...

YouTube via mik300z | September 12, 2010

"'approach' referring to Vangelis method of recording/composing/performing. First section is based on the track "horizon" , the second section is my own little comp. inspired by the first part. I read somewhere that Vangelis would improvise and record different pieces of music at nemo , then "stitch" them together in the recording process, knowing exactly what he wanted to achieve as the end result. He really is the master at it. Here I played live as much as possible, then added some extra little phrases after on a multitrack. A much more enjoyable way of making music than fiddling with a computer:) Remember Vangelis did not have midi when he recorded some of his most beautiful pieces of music. I hope this inspires anyone thinking of starting music production"

"The bounty" closing titles (cover

YouTube via mik300z
"one of Vangelis's finest moments. Apologies for the dreadful sound quality , i really need a camera with a direct audio feed. No point in playing it live, too much going on, very complex arrangement (well it was for me!) Juno 6, 106 and microkorg doing the bass, ESQ doing CS80 type lead , juno G doing strings and grand piano, Korg X5 doing those "80's" drums. When I get a proper camera I will overdub it with proper audio quality because i'm quite proud of how it turned out. Not entirely accurate I know, but still it was a great challenge for me"

"Thought I would share an evening of inspiration I got from playing with a simple sequence from the an1x. Timing is off all over the place , If I can build the track into something , I could share the progression of it..if anyone is interested of course:)!"
