"Just before shipping this system out to Hans Zimmer, I recorded this demo. There are several new modules in this system. The new 1017 sequencer and the 1018 sequencer expander. The 1017/1018 features an internal sequential switch that lets you switch between 2 separate sequences. The updated 1066 bipolar ladder filter with the added 5 input mixer. The 1015 quad resonator module in used on the lead sound. The 1020 dual quantizer prototype module is the odd looking module in the center. Please excuse the noodling."

Kingston, NY— In 2025, the Alan R. Pearlman Foundation celebrates the centennial of its namesake, the electronic visionary whose marvelous ARP synthesizers changed the landscape of music forever. As part of the ongoing celebrations, the Foundation is announcing the release of Soul Of The Machine, a 36-track musical celebration of the man and his creations as interpreted by a diverse range of recording artists.

Soul Of The Machine is a 36-track collection of tracks old and new, covering everything from innovative electronic, dance, and space music to jazz, funk, and Latin pop, all featuring the signature sounds of classic ARP instruments. The collection includes everything from ARP’s first synthesizer — the massively powerful ARP 2500 modular system — to the instruments that rewrote the rules on how electronics and music came together. The 2600, Odyssey, Pro Soloist, Omni, and many more ARP instruments sing, cry, scream, and soar, in the hands of musical talents both legends and newcomers.

Soul Of The Machine is a treasure trove of musical exploration. Martin Gore’s “KIno" combines Depeche Mode’s signature rhythmic power with a uniquely lyrical and sweet atmosphere. “Mr. No” is a celebration of the classic proto-techno sound of John Foxx. Award-winning soundtrack composer Mark Isham showcases his signature pulsating energy and evocative moodscapes in the mini-suite “Musings – in Two Parts”. Lisa Bella Donna takes listeners on a journey into timeless wonder in the epic “Conclusions.” JG Thirlwell’s “Sphere” is a synth freakout ricocheting between ominous sci-fi atmospheres and searing beats. Famed ambient / electronic pioneer and ARP user since 1978, Steve Roach shares his thoughts on Soul Of The Machine: "In 2024 I had the honor of meeting Dina Pearlman-Ifil — the director of the Alan R Pearlman Foundation — in person. Over the course of several phone conversations we discussed ways to celebrate the centennial year of her father's life and his place in history. My idea for a compilation of music using her father’s creations grew out of those conversations, presenting a perfect way to directly experience the vast range of music that was birthed by the family of ARP synthesizers. This compilation is just a small taste of the universe Alan inspired in sound explorers and artists across a vast range of genres."

Steve mapped out the music so that CD 1 represents a sonic journey and CD 2 provides a showcase of the depth and breadth of what ARP synths can do. After both CDs were finalized, there were more tracks than room on the CDs. These additional songs are available as a bonus digital supplement to the physical CD set.

Says Dina Pearlman-Ifil: “I have long-dreamed of a multi-genre collection that would illustrate the depth and breadth of the possibilities of my father's instruments. "Vintage ARP 2500 Modular Synthesizer system. Accompanying the ARP 2500 main cabinet is a pair of fully loaded wing cabinets. The main cabinet and keyboard were fully restored by Phil Cirocco (CMS) around 2011 as well were most of the modules in the wing cabinets. However the system has not been powered up or played since 2018 when I moved from Los Angeles to Tucson Arizona. It was working perfectly in 2018. Since sitting for 7 years the system will most likely need some small service to get it back to perfect. IT IS UNTESTED AND WILL NOT BE TESTED. IT IS BEING SOLD AS IS.

The previous service was meticulously done to satisfy my serious demand for the system to remain as original as possible. No modifications were done and all parts replaced with original or appropriate parts. The system is hyper clean in person and was clearly babied. It was used on notable lp's. You may live a 100 more years but will likely never find a better more complete ARP 2500 for sale. This system is priceless and was the most expensive new instrument when it was produced in the early 1970's.

I collected and played many Moog, ARP and Buchla modular systems. However owning so many systems became a burden. As well, switching between using Moog, ARP and Buchla took too much bandwidth. I sold all of my Buchla systems and this is my last and best ARP piece from my massive collection. Time for someone else to own it

"This one is in good cosmetic condition and working 100%. This is for the synth only and not the keyboard. It has been professionally serviced and with a lot of restoration by Phil Cirocco of CMS. As some of you know, Phil is highly respected and is the premiere ARP specialist. This ARP 2600 is a V3.0 made on the 23rd week (June) of 1973. It has some unusual markings for V3. As you can see, it has the G-Clef sticker, but with the Tonus logo Silkscreen. It has the 15.5" panel which is correct for a V3.0, but has the squared speaker grille instead of the oval. All of this is cosmetic, however. It will be properly packaged when sold and will arrive in the condition as stated. Proof of the actual shipping cost will be provided if needed. This unit is listed as a USA sale only, but I am willing to ship to other countries. Not sold as-is!

Cosmetically - Nothing is mint, minty, super mint, etc., in my opinion, and this one is no exception. There are plenty of imperfections on this one as you can see, but the synth itself looks very good in my opinion. Please check out the photos. The handle was replaced with a new one, it has new Switchcraft washers, and all the jack nuts were ultrasonically cleaned.

Internally- Apart from any repairs (there were many), the unit has been disassembled and cleaned, all of the original sliders cleaned and re-lubed, the power supply has been rebuilt, it has a new Accutronics reverb tank, several encapsulated modules replaced, some switches replaced, several connectors cleaned & tightened, and the main out jacks replaced. There was a lot done to this unit so this will likely be updated."

ARP Foundation ARP 2500 Now Available for Public Use

KINGSTON, NY, MAY 24, 2024– The Alan R. Pearlman Foundation proudly announces that their recently-acquired ARP 2500 synthesizer has been restored, fitted with upgrades, and is now available tom the general public at The Record Co. in Boston, MA. This ARP 2500 is the first and only publicly-accessible example of its kind in the USA.

Thanks to generous funding from donors and benefactors, and in line with the Foundation’s mission, this exceedingly rare 2508 Wing Cabinet is now available to everyone. Part of the expansive 2500 system, the 2508 is a self-contained synthesizer including original oscillator, filter, sequencer, envelope and mix-sequencer modules, interlinked by the 2500’s flexible patch matrix system. It also contains a unique new oscillator designed for the Foundation by Phil Cirocco of Cirocco Music Systems, who also restored the 2508 to pristine working condition. The synthesizer has been further enhanced with a protective cover as well as a new custom-made keyboard from synthesizer.com.

"The day has finally arrived," said Dina Alcalay Pearlman-Ifil, founder and Executive Director of the ARP Foundation and daughter of Alan R. Pearlman. The Foundation Announces the First Publicly-Accessible ARP 2500 in the USA

STONE RIDGE, NY, November 28, 2023: Thanks to a generous donation by former ARP employee Bruce McLendon, the Alan R. Pearlman Foundation is welcoming a 2508 Wing Cabinet into its collection of legendary ARP synthesizers.

This 2508 cabinet was assembled as a complete self-contained 2500 synthesizer featuring original oscillator, filter, sequencer, envelope and mix-sequencer modules, all linked by the flexible 2500 patch matrix system. It also contains a new oscillator module designed and built for the Foundation by Phil Cirocco of CMS (Discrete Music Systems).

The ARP Foundation is launching an IndieGogo campaign to raise funds to complete the restoration of what will become the only publicly-accessible ARP 2500 synthesizer in the USA, and to bolster its ARPs For All Program in preparation for the 2500’s arrival.

Side note for synth history's sake: The New England Synthesizer Museum supposedly had the first ARP 2500 on display, but it was non functional when I visited, and the museum no longer around. The owner/curator David Hillel Wilson passed away back in 2010.

"Single-owner ARP 2600 with a 3620 keyboard. Purchased in 1975, this synth has been meticulously restored and cleaned up in 2020 by Phil Cirocco over at CMS tech service in Savannah, GA. It was very dusty and Phil cleaned it up and added a few mods to it. The modifications added are:

1/4" input jack for the PreAmp

1/4" Output Jacks

IEC power jack to replace the original hard wired power cable

Everything on the synth is 100% functional.

The one problem is that the plastic slider for the pulse width of VCO 3 has broken off, but the parameter still works.

There is no Lid for the ARP itself, but the keyboard does have its lid. For this reason, I'm not interested in shipping.

The 3620 keyboard is in rough shape around the key bed. Decades of use have eroded all of the padding that used to exist under the keys, so playing the keys is very loud and clacky. Some of the keys are yellowing and chipped. Aside from that, absolutely all of the parameters and jacks work on the keyboard. The pitch bend knob is not original"

"The rarest of the rare… A fully restored (by Phil Cirocco) Arp 2600c / 3604c. It works as-factory, and will be delivered in perfect working order to its new home.

If you are looking at this, you’ve likely heard about the Teledyne chips… If not - this has them. None of the suitcase versions do to my knowledge - and the sound that made the Arp 2600 so ubiquitous is largely in those chips… This sounds utterly incredible, and yes - different to the later model 2600’s and very different to the late model Korg and Behringer 2600’s though they make a decent substitute!"

"Model 2813 Arp Odyssey. Upgraded filter and Power-One HBB15-1.5-A ultra-stable linear power supply. I still have the original PSU (which I will include) as well if you'd want to convert it back to original. All tantalum caps have been removed and upgraded (except for on the original power supply which is not installed).

Never toured of even gigged with, it's been a home studio queen ever since I acquired it in the early 2000s.

Serviced around 2006 by Phil Cirocco of CMS modulars when he was still in Bethlehem, PA. All input and output jacks have been converted to 1/4" Switchcraft. New key bushings on every key around the same time Was just serviced and calibrated by Bell Tone Synth Works in Philadelphia (4/17)."

"Excellent condition ARP 2601 with its matching 3620 keyboard. Outside of minor white spots on the keyboard lid (not the keyboard itself, as shown on pics) this Arp is in beautiful condition. Its electronic condition is matching the cosmetics: it was thoroughly serviced in 2014 by Phil Cirocco at CMS Discrete Synthesizers and has not needed any service since then. All functions work to specs. Phil Cirrocco is the acknowledged expert in ARP service and repair.

The original owner made two modifications to the original specs:

1) On the keyboard control panel there is a small red toggle switch in the upper right corner and a red momentary push button next to the vibrato sliders. With the switch in the “off” position the LFO/vibrato controls work in standard fashion. When the switch is in the “on” position the vibrato delay is replaced by push button activation. Pushing the button engages the LFO/vibrato depth settings instantly. This allows for expressive use of vibrato while playing.
2) There are two additional jacks on the lower left corner of the console, and one additional jack on the keyboard control panel next to the connector cable. These allow for an optional ground cable (included) to connect the chassis grounds between the keyboard and console. In some studio situations this improved pitch stability. It is entirely optional."

Vintage ARP Odyssey 1972 Mk. I + Full Patch Points + Cirocco Mods!

A full set of mods can be seen from the picture. Mods were performed by #1 worldwide Arp tech Phil Cirocco (the guy who fixes/restores 2500's).

I should mention that another design quirk of the original Odyssey -- the delay between VCA and VCF gate times, has been eliminated!

Without this critical fix, no matter how fast the envelope times, it would have sounded slow due to the VCF gate delay. Not so here, the envelope is ultra-fast with the "Turbo" setting, and also sounds better and cleaner with the normal setting. This is what is meant by "true 2600 style envelopes" -- multiple coordinated modifications here really take this synth into a completely different category.

What you get is the 'best of both worlds'. You get additional features and sound of the early 1970's Mk. I Odyssey (much warmer early 1970’s oscillators, sweet filter resonance, hard sync), with the back-end snappiness and sonic character of the Arp 2600. On many patches the result actually sounds better than the stock 2600."

"Phil Cirocco demonstrating the CMS 2607 just before shipping it out to a customer in San Francisco. The patch breifly highlights the built in sync circuit. Later in the video, the High-pass filter output is fed through the Post Filter Distortion circuit (from the ARP Centaur). The two 1/4 inch cables at top right are plugged directly into the stereo input of the camera. No post production or processing.
