SATURDAY: Elektron Digitone 2, Outbox 8, Analog 4 and Eventide Tricera Chorus.

video upload by Acid Gray

"Digitone 2 and Analog 4 on a melancholic IDM-jam building the first track for my next album.

Digitone 2 used for pads (Swarmer machines) plus Tricera Chorus and reverb. The other tracks are used for drums and percussion.

Here Outbox 8 really shines, as you now can use the DN as synth, drum machine and external sequencer - and still go for hardware recordings.

Analog 4:
T1: Lead
T2: Bass
T3: Additional Pad
T4: Pluck

Will use the DN2 / A4 combo definitely more frequently.

Had severe issues with my BlueBox today, as no separate FX tracks were recorded, although the option was selected, so I added reverb and delay in Logic X Pro this time."

SPACE 1oh1 (Roland SH-101 BLUE - 1oh1 Mod by Tubbutec, Roland Space Echo RE-201)

video upload by Acid Gray

"First time I set up the SH-101 for a random- arp jam in my studio after getting it (rather unexpected in the summer break) along with the Roland RE-201 Space Echo.

Recorded in a single take on 1010 BlueBox - Cloud Reverb added here on top or the spring reverb from the Space Echo.

I learned today, that the 101 can't generate a clock signal - here the LFO speed is used to trigger the arp (not the tightest tempo I have ever had, but I wanted to keep things simple).

Was seriously surprised about the variety you can get of it.
Thanks to ‪@tubbutec‬ for the superb development of the 1oh1 retrofit - I wouldn't wanna miss it and ‪@analogiapl‬ for the overhaul of this stunning unit.

Next take will be a combination of TR-808, SH-101 and a TB-303 ."

ROOM 541 (Elektron Monomachine, MachineDrum, BOSS CE1)

video upload by Acid Gray

"Finally back after the summer break with a new IDM take on the classic Elektron silver machines.

In addition used the BOSS CE1 for thickening the pads.
Live recorded in a single take on 1010 BlueBox. Reverb added here.

(I messed up the positioning of my second cam - so less angle changes than usual ;-))"

303-BISCUIT (Roland TB-303, OTO-Biscuit)

video upload by Acid Gray

"Never tried the OTO-Biscuit on the Roland TB-303.

Probably nothing for everybody's taste, but I really like it a lot:
Somewhere between crunchy Lo-Fi sounds and distortion.
Combined with the analog filter, it adds so much more versatility to a 303.

For me Biscuit is one my favorite FX of all time - something I didn't even know that it exists.

It's a gear demo - not a regular acid track ;-)

Recorded in a single take on 1010-BlueBox (delay and reverb added here)."

8-BIT MINIMALISM (OTO-Biscuit, Elektron MachineDrum MKII)

video upload by Acid Gray

"First test drive of OTO-Biscuit and just the Machinedrum.

Evolving set moving from minimal techno / tech house into deeper dub-territories.

Directly recorded on 1010 BlueBox in a single take using the MD main outs - just a tiny bit of reverb being used here, otherwise only onboard FX being used."

PROKRASTINATION (Elektron Monomachine SFX-6, Machinedrum, Analog4)

video upload by Acid Gray

"Trippy melodic IDM ride on the classic Elektrons.

Live recorded in a single take on 1010 BlueBox.
Delay and reverb added here."

MOVEMENTS (Roland TR-808, Roland RE-201 Space Echo, Elektron Analog4)

video upload by Acid Gray

"Dreamy Dub.Techno take on the Roland TR-808 (my favorite Kick of all times), the Roland RE-201 Space Echo and the Analog 4.

Additional field recordings done on Zoom H1e (also sounds much better than expected).

Live recorded in one take on 1010 BlueBox.
Sorry - got lost in dubchord filtering / space-echoing - so the track got much longer than I initially intended."

1. Mega Command Live (MCL) TUTORIAL 01 - Basic Functionalities (Conditional Trigs, Micro-Timing...)
I received my MCL just two days ago. Here, I show some very simple and basic functionalities of the unit (it's much easier than I expected).

A significant benefit for this classic and amazing machine!

Roland SH 101 Vintage Classic Synthesizer

"Comes with modulation grip. A major influence to house and acid house music Roland SH-101 is a synthesizer from the early 1980s, manufactured by Roland. It is a small, 32 key, monophonic analog synthesizer. It features one oscillator with 3 simultaneous waveforms, an 'octave-divided' square sub-oscillator, triangle and square/pwm waveform. It has a low-pass filter/VCFcapable of self oscillation. The self oscillation filter can be used to make bassdrum sounds. The controls are simple to use as there is a slider or switch available for every single parameter, and there is an external trigger input to control the speed of the sequencer or the arpeggiator. The LFO is very fast and can be used to make fast arpeggios with decay down to zero volume, without retriggering the ADSR. External control is achieved using CV/Gate and not MIDI. The SH-101 was produced in three colors: gray, blue, and red."

Roland SH-101

via this auction
"The SH-101 is very cool, especially for techno, drum&bass and ACID! It's a monophonic bass synthesizer. Its sound lies somewhere between the TB-303 and a Juno bass sound. It has a lot of simple but cool features. You can control the VCF, pitch, LFO or all from the pitch bender. It has a white noise generator, arpeggiator with up, down and up/down patterns and a simple real-time sequencer. The LFO offers random, sine, square or noise waveforms. And normal or auto portamento effects give you that elastic bass sound. There are external clock inputs for the sequencer and arpeggiator, CV/GATE inputs and outputs and a CV hold pedal. Unfortunately there is no patch memory storage and although it has no MIDI there are upgrades available for it from many analog service companies that will allow you to incorporate it into any MIDI studio environment. It can also be controlled by MIDI using a CV/MIDI converter. It's great for bass sounds or bubbly analog effects. They come in three different flavors - gray, blue or red (there was a VERY rare white version too)!"
