MDScaler Machinedrum Tonal Quantizer for Monome Norns #elektron #machinedrum #monome
video upload by HANJŌ
"Check out MDScaler — a Monome Norns script I developed to bring tonal pitch control and creative randomness to the Elektron Machinedrum (or any CC-controllable synth).
With MDScaler, you can:
Quantize any incoming CC to a musical scale of your choice
Randomize notes within the active scale for generative ideas
Map to Machinedrum’s pitch parameter (using Tonal mode in X firmware)
Use parameter-lock compatible CC control so each step can evolve melodically
Switch encoder modes: channel select, CC number, note stepping, octave cycling
In this demo video, I walk through the interface, show it in action on a pattern, and explore how randomness + scale constraints can yield interesting melodic/rhythmic results.
Controls (via Norns / MDScaler):
Element Function
E1 Change Scale Mode
E2 Adjust Root Note (C, C#, D, etc.)
E3 Toggle between Channel / CC / Note modes
K2 Send a Random Note from current scale
K3 Mode Select (toggling E3 behavior)
K3 + K2 Cycle Octave
Pitch mapping / defaults:
By default, MDScaler maps to Machinedrum tracks via CCs using a consistent offset pattern across groups of 4 tracks (16, 40, 72, 96) per channel. You can reassign or explore as desired.

Octatrack Arpeggiator improvised moody house jam + Nymphes + Sirin #dawless #synth #dreadbox
video upload by Hanjo Synth
"Welcome to this moody house improvised jam, where we explore the creative potential of combining different electronic music gear to make an atmospheric and hypnotic groove. In this session, we use a combination of Elektron boxes, including the Octatrack as the central hub for sequencing and effects, and two external analog synths, the Dreadbox Nymphes and the Moog Sirin, to add warmth and character to the sound.
The main technique we use here is the Octatrack arpeggiator, which allows us to create complex melodic patterns by triggering different notes in sequence. We use the arpeggiator in different ways, such as changing the speed, direction, and note range, to keep the rhythm evolving and interesting.
Throughout the video, you'll see and hear the different elements of the jam being introduced and manipulated, from the deep bassline of the Sirin to the ethereal pads of the Nymphes, to the glitchy drums and percussions of the Elektron boxes. We also use various effects, such as reverb, delay, and distortion, to enhance the textures and add depth to the mix.
The mood of the jam is introspective and contemplative, with a hint of melancholy and nostalgia. The sound evolves gradually, with subtle variations and nuances that create a sense of organic growth and development.
I hope you enjoy this moody house improvised jam and get inspired to experiment with your own gear and techniques. Let's dive in!"

Dreadbox Nymphes unboxing! Music from my first jam with Digitakt. #synthesizer #dreadbox #nymphes
video upload by Hanjo Synth
"Welcome to my unboxing of the Dreadbox Nymphes Polyphonic synthesizer! This is an exciting release from Dreadbox, known for their high-quality analog synths and effects pedals.
Let's take a look at what's inside the box. As we open it up, we're greeted with the sleek and stylish design of the Nymphes. The synth has a beautiful metal enclosure and its sturdy construction makes it feel like a premium instrument right out of the box.
Moving on to the accessories, we have the MIDI to Din adapter, the USB cable for powering the synth and a quick start guide. The USB cable is a convenient design choice, allowing you to power the Nymphes directly from your computer or USB power supply.
Now, let's get the Nymphes hooked up and see what it can do! As we power it on, we're greeted with a warm and inviting sound. The Nymphes is a 6-voice polyphonic synth with one oscillator a sub oscillator and 2 LFOs, making it capable of creating rich and dynamic sounds with ease. The controls are not the most intuitive but they are all available with a few button combos allowing you you to quickly dial in the perfect sound for your music.
Overall, the Dreadbox Nymphes Polyphonic synthesizer is a fantastic addition to any musician's setup looking for a Polysynth. Its high-quality build, versatile sound, and hands on controls make it a joy to play and experiment with. I'm excited to dive deeper into what this synth can do, and I hope you are too!"
