Being perhaps the most popular version of one of the most iconic monophonic analog synth series of all time is no easy feat, but the Moog Minimoog Model D manages to pull it off. As one of the first non-modular synthesizers, the Minimoog Model D is highly intuitive and requires very little knowledge to use. The model D boasts contouring circuits and three separate, completely original oscillators, one of which can be used as an LFO. Although the Model D was reissued, the '70s Minimoog Model D hasn't depreciated in value, desirability, or style.
Watch me bring that sound back to life!đčđș"

Oberheim OB-X - The Sound of 99 Red Balloons (Nena 99 Luftballons)
video upload by RetroSound
"The intro sound of 99 Red Ballons was always one my favorite Oberheim sounds ever. The warm pad sound at the beginning and than the powerful synth riff. Wonderful. At the end of the video can you find the patch sheet.
The Oberheim OB-X Synthesizer from 1978 is one of the legendary synths in music history. Used by Ultravox, Japan, Killing Joke, J.-M. Jarre, Rush, Barcley James Harvest and others. Here can you find the full OB-X playlist with a lot single sound demos, synth comparisions and one synth demo tracks. Enjoy."

Oberheim OB-X
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
"This OB-X is the 4-voice model in top condition and with very minor wear given its age. This synth sounds fantastic, everything works as it should and is very stable. I had it serviced about 2 years ago by a former Oberheim employee. Service included recapping of the power supply, replacing OS chips, renew some of the old cables, and adding new key bushings. I also had him retrofit it with the ElectronGate MIDI kit.
The Oberheim OB-X is the rarest of the entire OB-series and touted by many (including Tom Oberheim himself) as the best sounding model of the OB series, which is due to its all discrete components (except for the envelopes, for which it uses CEM3310 chips) and the SEM-based design used in the earlier Oberheim Two- and Four Voice synths. Only 800 Oberheim OB-Xs were manufactured and it is estimated that an even smaller number of them are alive today in fully working condition.
Furthermore, the OB-X is THE synth behind legendary sounds, such as the haunting pad sound in Killing Joke's "Love Like Blood", the intro reso-sweep sound in Rush's "Tom Sawyer", the entire Queen "Flash Gordon" soundtrack, Nena's "99 Luftballons", and of course Van Halen's "Jump" (the list goes on)."

MS Kinect Balloon Project
Balloon Project from Dan Wilcox on Vimeo.
"Experiments in balloon motion and sound using an MS Kinect depth sensing camera.Created for the Carnegie Mellon 1st & 2nd year MFA Graduate show entitled "Fresh Baked Goods" at Bakery Square, April 2011.
A machine stands in a room surrounded by balloons. Circulating fans blow the balloons over the machine which creates sound based on their movements.
Mode 1: Tones
Balloon height and x/y position control the pitch and panning of a treble and bass voice. The tones can be quantized into a certain key or a glisssando can be employed for a theremin-style effect.
Mode 2: 99 Luftballons
The playback speed of Nena's 99 Luftballons is controlled by balloon height. The balloons must be kept in the air for the song to play. Feed the machine.
Built using Open Frameworks, ofxKinect, and Open CV for balloon tracking and Pure Data for sound generation/playback.
See danomatika.com/blog/balloon-project for more info.
