JH String Filter

via JH:

"I've just recorded two short demos with the String Filter prototype.

First one is a fast Arpeggio from the OB-8, first dry, and then with String Filter switched on and off, and Resonance altered: link

Second one is a String-like OB-8 sound, made more string-like with the String Filter :) Switched on and off between phrases, to display the difference: link

Note: Unlike the older sample, the above has *no* Cello pre-equalization (yet)!

String Filter web page is also updated (with the two new samples and pictures of the prototype)

"lots of fat sounds and unique after touch keyboard that can trigger 1/4 tones. the 2 Cool joysticks add multi-dimensional control. one to control pitch, noise and vibrato. the second joystick to edit the low-pass and hi-pass VCF filters! There is also an "Effect" section which is for Vibrato, Portamento, Sample and Hold, Noise, Key Hold, Multiple Trigger and Ring Modulator (each with it's own rotary control to vary it's sound). Even though it has a switch labelled "Ring Mod," it's actually a cross-mod. It lets you cross modulate between the instrument and Synth sections."

Somatic Circuits !Malfuntionator Kit Synth

"The !Malfunctionator was designed to be a handy UFO dector dubbling up as a Electro Music Device to assist in the making of creative electro music. It consists of 3 oscillators each modulated by 3 low frequency oscillators see the signal path. The oscillators are based around the hex invertor IC known as CD40106 aka 7HC04 , the wave froms produced from this logic device are trapazoid . This modulator to oscillator combination allows the user to create a wide range of sounds. Play it alongside with your synthesizers, isolate the sounds in your wave mapper and create a new 'synth' in your sampler, incorperate into your modular system or tweek it out and box it up as the ultimate noize unit, whatever you do , with the clear high ends and dirty fat low ends the !Malfunctionator is the perfect electro tool at the same time keeping a close ear on UFO activity."

"Constructing the !Malfunctionator is easy, fun and quick. Solder the listed components into their correct place shown on the board. Align the diodes, capacitors, ICs and LEDs. For ease of construction solder by height, start from the smaller components (the resistors, ICs, diodes etc) then the larger components (capacitors transistors etc).Trim the ends after you solder.Solder wires to the pots and LED indcators. Refer to the schematic for troubleshooting and modifications. When complete pop it a box and power it up either with a 9v battery cell or connect it to a power supply of some sort that delivers a DC voltage of 5VDC - 15VDC , 9VDC recomended. Then connect it to your Starship control console and start tracking aliens with your new Electro Music Device -The !Malfunctionator."
