"Here's my cover of Killswitch Engage's "My Curse".

A few things about the music, video, and images.

1. This is played entirely by ear. It took me about 3 or 4 days to learn fully.
2. The keyboard is a Korg Karma using an Overdrive guitar sound.
3. The audio was recorded via Pro Tools.
4. The images are pictures I took out in Colorado, in 2006.
5. I edited the video today.

Send me comments, leave me messages, let me know what you think."

"Having an "open" system like this, compared to a non-modular synth, gives you a large number of creative opportunities such as applying pedals and effects - things like adding reverb to an LFO signal, tremolo to VCO, distrotion to the Envelopes, etc, via something like a Boss Line Selector pedal. The low pass filter gives a different flavor compared to typical 24db diode ladder types. Great fos bass, hard sounds, pads with unique character via the filter. Audio in and out are present on both front and rear of the unit. Midi In and Thru on back. Unit has built-in 16bit Midi-to-CV converter.

* 2x VCO with tri, saw, sqr; pull tune knob to get lower octaves
* excellent Sub VCO
* LPF with cross-modulation
* Noise
* Ext. signal input
* AHR envelope; settable to AR
* ADSR envelope w/ +/- env shape
* LFO tri, saw, sqr; rate mod in
* Ring Mod
* 16-bit Midi-to-cv with pitch & trig, plus extra accent and control cv outputs

Comes with original accessories -- manual, power cable, and patch cables (6, not pictured).

This unit is set for operation at 115V."

"This CS-30 has two VCOs, two VCFs, two VCAs one LFO, three EGs and 8 step analog sequencer. All sections are routable by selector switches, just like modular synthesizer without patch cables."

Jim Patchell DSM1

"Here is what I have in mind for the moment. This, I propose, to implement in a Xilinx XC3S1000 fpga. I am going to use a Diglent Spartan 3 Starter board with that part mounted on it. This should be able to cover all that is proposed. I will be controlling it with an Atmel ATmeaga2561 microcontroller.

I should be able to run this at 96KHz sample rate, my goal is, however, to run at 192KHz sample rate. The tough one is going to be the filter. I am currently writing the code of the low pass filter. I know that 512 of anything seems like a lot, but, that is just sort of how things break down in the Spartan 3. If it works...I don't think I will need to worry about running out of oscilators. I still need to figure out some way to get modulation into the picture, but, that I am sure will come later. I want to get the basic system down first. It would be kind of keen to be able to do FM modulation from channel to channel..."

More info on the Jim Patchell DSM1 here. Note the filter for the Mattson Mini Modular is based on a Jim Patchell design.
