1982 Casio VL-Tone VL-5
via this auctionclick the image for lager shots. Not the best, but you don't see these often. Not many details: "Casio VL-Tone, model VL-5 electronic keyboard synthesizer with the Casio MS-1 bar code reader and the case."
Anyone know more about these? Open ended on purpose of course. Whatever you know, feel free to share.
Update via sizone in the comments: "I have one of those. I got it because it was cheaper than a vl-1. It's basically a 5 (maybe 4) note polyphonic vl-1. The presets and rhythms are slightly different. Absent are the calculator and programable voice features. Present is a 1/4'' output jack. IMHO it sounds a bit better than it's predecessor and unlike the vl-1 it doesn't go out of tune. The barcode reader can be used to input preprinted songs into the playback memory, a feature I'm sure you will find utterly useless. It's a good instrument for playing Kraftwerk covers with."
Update via BirdFLU in the comments: "I was disappointed to find out you CAN NOT use the barcode reader to scan any barcode. I dreamed of using it to scan cereal boxes or soup cans to see what hidden melodies they might have, but it wasn't to be."

I don't think I've ever heard Martin Gore's voice before this. Pretty deep considering how light and angelic, almost eunuch, sounding it is when singing. I'm guessing that's a Crumar Spirit in the backgound.

Not a synth but interesting enough.

"# A VERY rare combo! The Voltage Controlled Amp ( VCA800 ) along with the CPE-800 Compu Editor.
From around 1981 basically an automated mixer that runs on sync track/smpte time code.
Nice warm sound, wooden ends - o`h err.. and uses parts that look like the Jupiter8 and TR 808....

There are (17) slide switches to either turn on/off a modulation patch or decide between something like for example white or pink noise.
The PCB was CNC pro Manufactured and has Solder mask to last a very long time. The unit is almost wireless, the only wiring is for the jacks. The pots are directly on the PCB, this results in very accurate and fast response.
The internal power supply is using 11000uF for each rail (+/-12v), that's (10) 2200uf CAPS total. This is really cleaning the POWER!"
