The World's Funkiest Prophet-600

via this auction
auction details:
"This is one of those "must have" synthesizers for those of you who play out often! This is my highly modified "Psychedelic pop art" Sequential Prophet 600, the earliest synthesizer with MIDI. All of the black paint has been removed to reveal the bare metal surface. This includes any factory markings of control knobs, etc. (You can easily make a control template and lay it over the controls in order to identify them). The membrane touch pad has also been painted over to obscure the numerals. Finally, the keys have been painted with day-glo paints. When put under a black light onstage this synth is amazing. The synth is in good working order, all controls work, and it is loaded with a set of my bizarre patches created with an editor program (Midi Quest) It has also had the oscillators detuned to give it an earth-shattering bottom-end. The oscillators can easily be returned to normal with a simple adjustment."

UNIQUE DBE Synthesizer Control Rackmount CRUMAR BIT 01

via this auction

"According to our research, this Made In Italy piece was named the Crumar Bit 1 overseas."

Update via this post:
"The Unique DBE was an American released version of Crumar's revered Bit 01 rack. Everything is exactly the same. 6 voice polyphonic analog synthesizer, stereo outs. So warm and such crazy, crisp fast envelopes. It is way warmer and phatter, and easier to program then let's say a Matrix 6. Lots of MIDI treats can affect many parameters with velocity and aftertouch like LFO, Pulse wave modulations and of course envelopes. Anything you see on the little matrix that has an extra frame around it is velocity sensitive. S/N is 0017. There can't be more than a few hundred of these. Much more rare than the Bit 01. These were available like for a few months back in the 80s."

Update via Urge in the comments: "Actual serial # is 00179"

John McLaughlin (born 4 January, 1942 in Doncaster), also known as Mahavishnu John McLaughlin, is an English jazz fusion guitarist and composer. He played with Tony Williams's group Lifetime and then with Miles Davis on his landmark electric jazz-fusion albums In A Silent Way and Bitches Brew. His 1970s electric band, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, performed a technically virtuosic and complex style of music that fused eclectic jazz and rock with eastern and Indian influences. His guitar playing includes a range of styles and genres, including jazz, Indian classical music, fusion, and Western Classical music, and has influenced many other guitarists. He has also incorporated Flamenco music in some of his acoustic recordings. The Indian Tabla maestro Zakir Hussain refers to John McLaughlin as being "one of the greatest and most important musicians of our times". In 2003, McLaughlin was ranked 49th in Rolling Stone magazine list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" [1]"
