SUIKO ST20 japanese classic exotic KOTO synth

via this auction

"SUIKO ST20 is extremely rare and most strange japanese electronic musical instruments originally made for japanese traditinal music circa. 1980.

it's built in cool brown custom suitcase like EMS synth, one side of the suitcase is a speaker so you can play without external amp or mixer but don't worry it has audio output too. keyboard itself is built in beautiful brown metal plate, look cool!

these keyboards were very expensive and made very limited quantities those days so i'ts very hard to find even in Japan nowadays... this is your first and last chance to get this vintage gem!

it has 2 rows of button keyboard this keyboard specially designed for playing glissando easily like koto(japanese harp) front row of the keyboard is japanese scale,so just playing randomly you can easily get exotic japanese melody!

there are various switch and dial for special japanese tuning and sustain and octave switch three sounds are selectable, shyakuhachi(japanese bamboo flute),koto(japanese harp) and pipe organ sounds are very analog, warm and strange!"

Korg Electribe EMX with Custom Knobs

"This is my Korg Electribe EMX with a custom set of 'Moog' style knobs. They aren't just pretty, they actually make the EMX feel so much better to tweak. The original knobs were to skinny and cheap for my liking!"

The Syntar - Jen Electronica GS-3000

You can find more pics, samples and info on The Syntar Page.

"Ok, so what is it?
Simply put, it is a Minimoog rip-off for guitarists. It has the basic signal-layout of the old moog. Instead of a keyboard there is an input socket on the front for connecting to a custom set of glue-on guitar pickups (no joke).

To the left you can see it in all its glory. Synth, manual, pickup mics, and "presets".

It is a simple but quite powerful mono-synth. Two VCOs capable of tri, saw and pulse/square waves. VCO2 is tuned relative to VCO1 for some fat detuning or those classic 5ths and 7ths. Sound is fed though a lowpass VCF (24dB/oct?) before reaching the VCA. VCA and VCF have independent envelopes of the atypical ADS variety (no release). There is also an LFO and Glide control."

Note there is no relation to this and the PMS Syntar of course. via Bart on Facebook.

New public beta operating system for Waldorf Q+

via Stefan Stenzel on the Waldorf list:

"New public beta operating system for Waldorf Q+

The new firmware version 3a61 addresses two issues found on some Waldorf Q+ synthesizers:

1.) Filter select LED
The Phoenix Edition of Q+ has a bug right on the front panel: The printing of the Filter select LED for Filter 1 and 2 are accidentally swapped - to compensate this, enable the new global parameter "Filter LED swap" and the LEDs show the proper Filter - just as if we never had made this stupid mistake in the first place.

2.) Sporadic audio channel mismatch
This is one of the most evil bugs we ever faced, as it occurs only rarely, usually after some hours of operation. The audible symptoms are missing notes, like every 2nd or 4th keystroke, wrong effects or panorama setting for alternating notes etc. We have reasons to believe that this new firmware solves this, but as this malfunction is not reproducible and occurrence is unpredictable, we cannot be absolutely sure. This is why we release it as a public beta, as we do not want to promise a fix that we only assume could be fixed. We kindly ask you to test this new firmware on your Q+ and report both if it works as intended or not. Please send feedback to bugs(thatthing)waldorfmusic.de.

The new system can be found here:

Stefan

"Yay! It looks like my JP-8 is finally fixed. I bought it last summer and it's been in and out of the shop since then. OK, so I've got the JP-8 in DUAL mode with the same sound for both upper & lower with some slight differences and played with its built-in arpeggiator in RANDOM mode (a la Duran Duran). Next, I have the Jupiter running into the Fantom's external input sharing the MFX with the Infinate Phaser patch which I use to noodle around with along with the D Beam. I also tweak the JP-8's filter using an EV-5 pedal."
