Korg mini pops SR 120 analog drum machine
YouTube via Dovinia
"Here's a little walk through of the basic rhythms of an SR-120.
This machine has 10 fabulous analog drum sounds as opposed to 7 on the mini pops 7 (the one used by Jarre) and may be considered the flagship of the series. People say it's quite rare, but you can find them on ebay quite often anyway. The machine has 32 patterns. 10 patterns are available from the switches and can be combined in any way you want. if you are clever you can in theory push down all the buttons at once. The number of possible combinations are quite extensive. When the "Waltz" pattern is engaged any pattern which is combined with it will also be in triplets, which gives you an idea of the vast combination possibilities. The machine has a nice implementation of foot switch inputs which lets you control fade in/out, start/stop and fills/break. All in all this gives you hours of fun, and that incredibly sweet, inimitable retro drum sound which sits perfectly in almost any mix. Enjoy. :-)"
Roland SH-101 and RS-09 videos by Dovinia
Analog Impressions #006
"This sound sketch comprises an unusually somber Roland SH-101 and a roll of tape with a little stream and early morning bird song. The delay effect is provided by a Revox A77 tape machine."
Analog Impressions #004
"An abysmal , monotonous piece largely dominated by a wide array of Electro Harmonix effects. The synths used are a Roland RS-09 Organ/Strings and an SH-101 running through EHX Deluxe Memory Man, Polychorus, Frequency Analyzer, Deluxe Electric Mistress and Small Stone."
Roland SH 101 and RS 09 with Korg minipops SR 120
"Here's a little improvisation on my SH-101 and a newly arrived RS-09 and Korg minipops SR-120.
It's just a little piece to show you a complete, 100% analog setup which is relatively cheap and very compact. The SH-101 is running through a Deluxe Memory Man analog delay and the RS-09 is running through a Small Stone phaser."

"Here's a quick walk through of all the Example Sounds from the original Roland Juno-6 manual. I hope you enjoy it more than I enjoyed dialing in all those sounds...
The manual with patch sheets can be downloaded here for reference: ftp://ftp.roland.co.uk/productsupport/Ma nuals/"
Roland JUNO-6 Patches #2
" Here's part 2 of my little walk through of all the Example Patches from the original Roland JUNO-6 owners manual. This part concentrates on what is called "single tone musical instruments" in the manual. Prepare for some really cheesy violins, trumpets etc. As in Part 1, you'll hear that there are some more complex (and possibly more interesting) sounds towards the end of the clip."
Roland Juno 6 Strings
" Here's a little Juno 6 sound demo. Effects added are Boss CE-2, EHX Small Stone and EHX Deluxe Memory Man. I also added some background chords on an old Eminent Solina N150 organ. Drum machine: Univox SR-95 (Minipops 7 equivalent). The typical JMJ chord progressions are intended. I thought this patch sounded somewhat like a typical 70's string synthesizer although the Juno's tend to lean a little to the brassy side. The effects help to mellow things out a bit IMO. Try it yourself if you like; The settings can be seen quite clearly in the video. Hope you enjoy it and sorry about the excessive noise levels... What you hear is the analog goodness of two cascading chorus lines. Bucket Brigade chips are not exactly Hi-Fi ;-)"

"JUNO-6 on four tracks. Some Small Stone here and there and tons of delay and reverb using the Deluxe Memory Man and Van-Amps Sole-Mate."

Yamaha CS-10 Videos via Dovinia
"The rich square wave of the CS-10 can sound somewhat like a bass clarinet sometimes. Also present here is a heavily Small Stoned Juno-6 with the filter all the way open for some sharp string machine-like sounds. The second, higher pitched lead and background noises, whispers and chirps are all courtesy of the CS-10 on the remaining tracks."

Wiard New Controller 311B, 4 examples from katavist on Vimeo.
"The Wiard New Controller basically consists of 2 JAGs (Joystick Axis Generators) in a 19" 2U rackmount form. X axis and Y axis can be fed control voltages from joystick or cv sources like LFOs. In the 3rd part of the clip the Doepfer A-192 CV to MIDI interface was used to send 8 outputs to the Alesis Andromeda. Other sound sources and modules used: Cwejman S1, Blacet, Cwejman, Doepfer."

follow-up to this post
"This is a collage of demo clips of the MFB VD01 module in use with my euro-modular, the Korg Kaoss Pad Entrancer and the new Wavedrum X.
The first bit simply shows the waveforms of two audio sources from the modular. In the second part (and most of the rest of the video) one sound source is sent to the Entrancer for audio tweaking and simultaneous mangling of the video source from the MFB-module. The output of the Kaoss Pad is then sent back to the LCD TFT monitor. These visuals show both the distorted original waveforms and the Kaoss effects. In parts 5, 9 and 11 the Wavedrum X is played through Doepfer BBD and Wasp filter modules with a foot pedal as modulation source.
I wish I could have rendered and uploaded this in HD, but lack of disc space and time forced me to compromise...

Modular noodlings 01
YouTube via snipz
"Lots of things going on here but basically a Hertz Donut FM'd to create the bell sound (going through a Z5000 spring reverb). Squelchy bass sound from an AFG going through a A101 filter with the freq cv'd by the bottom row of the A155 sequencer. High hat from a A118 noise clocked direct from the sequencer and the drum from an AS95 oscillator divided and clocked by an A160. MATHS and MFB adsr on envelope duties...need to get another adsr soon though!"

"vintage synth demo by RetroSound
This simple demo shows the simultaneous trigger possibilities (CB, CP) of the TR-808 for triggering the Pro-One internal step sequencer and the Juno-60 arpeggiator.
The Juno-60 plays the different arpeggio modes at the last part of the video.
arpeggio: Roland Juno-60 internal arpeggiator
bass: SCI Pro-One - 2VCO-Square Bass
drums: TR-808 (Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Open & Closed Hi Hat, Rim-Shot, Low & Hi Tom)"
