MDB Window Recorder
Update: pic via http://www.muzines.co.uk where you'll find an article with additinal details on the MDB Window Recorder.
This update is in via swissdoc on 7/8/2019.
Original post:
Anyone know more about this one? swissdoc wrote in with the following: "while listening to the Electronic Soundmaker cassette from August 1985 I realized they where testing a Sampler there which I never heard about so far, the MDB Window Recorder. As a quick search reveals, it was built in Switzerland.
Here are the relevant hits I could find:
http://www.giant.ch/index___id=contact&l=en.html
Giant has been involved in the design and the manufacture of the one of the first real 16bit digital audio samplers, the "MDB Window Recorder".

mp3 here
From the giant.ch link above: "Giant Electronics is a swiss distribution company dedicated to the audio-pro market. Giant Electronics was founded in 1978 by Vincent Baettig, and was a manufacturing company between 1982 and 1989.
Giant has been involved in the design and the manufacture of the one of the first real 16bit digital audio samplers, the "MDB Window Recorder".
Between 1985 and 2001, Giant has been mainly involved in pro-audio sales and in high-end "computer based" audio & video workstation solutions. Our regular activities take place into studio-mixdown, mastering, post-synchronisation, broadcast, multimedia and home-recording markets."
Update via 7ate9 in the comments:
"It was a grey rack mount unit as far as I remember. From around the time when AMS introduced the CV/Gate keyboard interface so you could use their digital delay as a sampler.
I think Daniel Miller and/or Gareth Jones used the MDB when working with Depeche Mode back then.
MDB also made a digital sequencer/keyboard thing which was sold at a VEMIA auction some years ago."
Yamaha DX7 II
"Yamaha DX7IID synth up for grabs. This second-generation keyboard is less commonly seen than the original. It has various enhancements such as improved sound quality, micro-tuning, better MIDI support, and the ability to layer two voices simultaneously in stereo."

First Kjahart session Electribing a musical box
YouTube via RothHandle
"Today was somewhat of a inbetween day in the studio...waiting to go to Alars studio to listen to a new version of Andreas Morlands All the time and then doing backups and small recordings while I was waiting. This is the first track we are mixing for Andreas solo album. We used to have a band together called Andreas & Jag and then he moved on and formed Morland.
This short film shows me messing around a musical box, a boss loopstation and a electribe drummachine.
If you are into this kind of stuff you might be interested in the studios website www.roth-handle.nu
The studio is located in Sundbyberg in Sweden. This is where I spend most of my days recording and producing artists. My main focus is using old equipment with new artists. The studio started in my apartment but after a while my girlfriend got fed up with having organs and keyboards stacked throughout the apartment so she more or less gave me an ultimatum. We are now married with three children."
Gavin Russom Interview
YouTube embed below. via Motherboard where you'll find the full write-up.
"In this episode of Electric Independence, Motherboard heads to Bed Stuy to visit Gavin Russom in his home studio.
Gavin Russom has been making and unmaking synths since a young age. He thinks of the analog machines as works of art in their own right, blending the aural, visual, and the sculptural."

(2/2)- Motherboard Electric Independence: Gavin Russom

"Gavin Russom is a wizard, and not just because his long red flowing mane is reminiscent of a medieval alchemist or because he was once a stage magician. The composer and former engineer for dance label DFA (where he earned the Wizard moniker) has been making and unmaking synths since a young age. Gavin thinks of the analog machines as works of art in their own right, blending the aural, visual, and the sculptural.
After living in Berlin, Gavin finally decided to come back stateside and get back to his roots. In this episode of Motherboards fantastical series Electric Independence, we sit down with Gavin and Black Dices Eric Copeland to talk about the state of dance music, 20th century composers and why the Wizards mystical, handcrafted electronic sound is a perfect substitute for controlled substances.

He performs under the name Justice Yeldham.
He also runs the label Dual Plover.
There is lots more on you tube about his performances but they speak for themselves.
Please note there is a Blood warning as he plays plates of glass with his mouth and a contact mic."
