First experiences with the Doepfer 12 db SEM VCF

YouTube via RothHandle
"An interesting day in the studio mostly due to the fact that I thought Id be working with one project but it turned out that I was doing some new rough mixes for the soundtrack me and Matti are working on...But first I had a bit of fun with a new filer that arrived at the studio today. I am sorry that this film is slightly unfocused and weird but as I wrote it is my first try-out of the filter...my first mumbly steps if you will...

This film was recorded at Roth Händle studos in Stockholm, Sweden. This is where I spend my days recording and producing artists...The studio started in my apartment and evolved slowly from there. This is the forth location of the studio. The first one obviously was at home...the second and third was at a abandoned shipyard outside of Stockholm. The studio works more or less in two ways either the artists come here to the studio or people send files that I work with...If you are curious to find out more about the studio please visit www.roth-handle.nu for more info, blogs and odd facts.

Thanks for watching,

Mattias"

"Acquired a Livid Block controller... first step, get button/LED addressing working in Plogue Bidule. From there it was a minor thing to attach it to a sequencing engine I'd made previously. It was a bit of new work to make the columns illuminate as the sequencer scrolls, though."

Todd Barton and Metasynth and Shakespeare

via brian c:
"Todd is the resident composer of Ashland Oregon's Shakespeare Festival among other things. He wrote an article a few years back on Metasynth ( see http://www.uisoftware.com/MetaSynth/index.php) . The article does a very good job of placing that software and synthesis into a context of actual music production for theatre (as opposed as to yet another TB303 groove). Metasynth allows you to visualize a sound clip as an onscreen graphix and then manipulate the image to work changes into the sound and vice versa. It's kind of like the offspring between Fruitlyoops BeepMap and SonicCharge SynPlant where sound derivation is indirect thru image manipulation. - interesting stuff indeed.

The article is at http://toddbarton.com/library/sound_advice_article.pdf

His site is pretty interesting too. www.toddbarton.com Shakespeare and synths - cool stuff -

Prithy, wouldst thou resonate with my four pole filter that I might divine thy note?

8-)

Peace
Brian"
