Dr. Ts CZ RIDER

via this auction
"Voice Editing/Storage program
for Casio CZ series synths-C64 software

A voice editing and storage program for the Casio CZ series synthesizers created by Dr T using a Commodore 64 computer and a MIDI interface.

CZ RIDER is a voice editing and storage program for the Casio CZ Series Synths using a Commodore 64 computer and a MIDI interface.

Editing is fast and easy from either the synthesizer, the computer keyboard, or even a joystick. This program takes the mystery out of programming digital synthesizers and replaces it with fun! You can draw envelopes right on the screen while you listen to the sound change on the CZ synth. When you view all of the sound parameters in one logical display in easier to understand the complex interaction involved with synth programming. When you add CZ RIDER's ability to change any parameter instantly, building voices becomes quite simple. The changes are instantly sent to the synth so you can immediately hear your new sound.

CZ RIDER is also a tremendous voice storage tool. One 5" disk can store as many as 33 cartridges.

Dr T's Music Software was designed specifically for small computers in the 1980s and allowed individual composers and musicians to exert complete control over the creation of music with MIDI synthesizers.

There are other great features too. You can clone envelopes from one voice to another. You can build your own 16-Voice Sets. The convenient editing options make it a breeze to customize existing sounds or create sounds from scratch. Now you can play any sound you imagine. Its easy to program your own voices with CZ RIDER.

Included in the auction is the factory case, 5" floppy disk, and manual."

Microtonal still steel style (Plogue Bidule)

YouTube via GruithuisenCityMan | September 05, 2010

"Hello ! My name is Frederic Gerchambeau. I have made this movie. The music has been made in one take with microtonal (de)tuner that i have made with Plogue Bidule. It allows to freely microtonally (de)tune each note, from C to B. It has been associated to a polysynth also made with Plogue Bidule. The discreet stereo delay effect is provided by Plogue Bidule too. Enjoy !

The Fate of the First Feature-Complete Prototype of the Harvestman Hertz Donut

via Scott Sebastian Jaeger of the harvestman on FB

"This was the first feature-complete prototype of the Donut. The PCB had some serious routing issues, so it never worked correctly and caused me a great deal of frustration. It was also the only module in my junk bin with a panel and no hop...e of rehabilitation into something musically useful.

The first shot immediately sheared all of the knobs off of the module, as the panel came away from the board assembly. Four of the pot shafts were snapped off as well. I only recovered about half of the knobs. Despite scoring two direct hits on the tact switches, I recovered most of the parts from all 5 switches. The force of the projectile impact blew most of the surface mount parts (0805 size) off of the board, I wasn't able to find any of them except for the crystal and a single electrolytic capacitor.

Load: Remington 125gr SJHP .38 Special +P (some garbage that had been laying in the back of my safe for a while). The brass and the recovered module fragments have been saved for use in an art project. I tried to pull a bullet from that tree stump but I couldn't do it without damaging the tools I had on hand."
