Akai Lpk25 with iPad and Yonac Mini Synth Pro!

YouTube via hanklepstein | November 23, 2010 |

"This is a terrible video but I had to make it since I was so excited. I didn't expect this controller to work without Akai making some special drivers or something. This will be so great once the new nLog update comes out."

"Move to the sound of an original beat

A revolutionary new drum machine app for beats that are way too hot to handle available 24 November 2010

Molten Drum Machine is a powerful and intuitive tool for creating percussive sounds and rhythm sequences. What makes it unique is its approach to grid based pattern sequencing that divides time to instantly add tuplets and fills to your drum programming. Unleash the potential of your beats on the iPad.

Molten is designed to be a flexible pattern based rhythm step-sequencer. Unlike traditional step-sequencers that have a fixed step size of typically 16 or 32 steps, Molten has a dividable step size. This flexibility allows for the easy creation of tuplet-based rhythms.

Unlike many traditional step-sequencers that have a fixed or box based time signature (usually 4/4), Molten features a flexible time signature. The power of Molten lies in its grid layout - vertically you can see as many as eight instrument parts running simultaneously. Horizontally you can have anywhere from one beat on a single page to 16 beats over four pages. With Molten it is possible to divide any beat into as many as nine pieces, and this is where things become interesting.

Built on a versatile synthesizer Molten allows you to play and process your own sound samples. The kits can be mangled, filtered and crushed using the multi-touch interface. Load and store your patterns and share them with your friends. Export to a standard MIDI file and import into a professional digital audio workstation. With the forthcoming iOS4.2, Molten will support USB MIDI devices with the iPad Camera Connection Kit. Connect directly to hardware with the MIDI out and to a Mac over Wi-Fi with MIDI networking.

Key features at a glance
· Easily and quickly create rhythms with complex time signatures
· Intuitively divide a note into tuplets
· Each pattern has eight instrument tracks
· Each instrument track has its own effects processor which can be tweaked in real-time
· Global master effects processor including delay, reverb, EQ and compressor
· Sample based synthesis with user loadable samples
· Share your pattern compositions as audio or MIDI files or transfer patterns between Molten users

Molten Drum Machine, is available via the App store for a red hot introductory price of USD $9.99 for a limited time only. It’s time to step out from the crowd and move to the sound of your own original beat.

Waldorf PPG Wave 3.V Sequencer-less Multi Mode Demonstration: JdM, 'Le Pistolate Italiane'

YouTube via nutekklabs | November 24, 2010 | 1 likes, 0 dislikes

"Think Sergio Leone casting Giorgio Moroder. i call it "Toscano House"

The Waldorf PPG 3.V is the reincarnation of the PPG Wave Synthesizer which was originally developed by Wolfgang Palm, who is also the inventor of Wavetable Synthesis.

All Sounds* in the 'Le Pistolate Italiane' demonstration are from JdM's (Jay de Miceli) factory content, utilizing the PPG's Multi Mode. The composition was completed without the use of an external sequencer, using only a combination of the Arpeggiator and the SEMITONE-KEY mode, along with some careful modulation routing to improvise a nifty sequencer. The finished sound is achieved by using only the on board effects and EQ. In fact the only thing that was not from Waldorf was use of the Allen and Heath Zone 92 filter and a bit of compression. The whole piece uses 26 voices with a modest CPU hit of no more than 6% of an Intel i7.

* with the exception of a new patch called "sergio JdM" which was programmed after some correspondence with Mr. Palm concerning the creation of a harmonica type sound. His advice was "there is no special wavetable for it...you can only improvise. Find a waveform which comes near to your needs, and add the other features of that instrument. Sometimes these "other features" are more important than the waveform itself!

Jay de Miceli's factory bank includes his one of a kind Vinyl Attack drum sounds which he uses beautifully in 'Le Pistolate Italiane', showcasing the ability to achieve club ready drums and percussion with the PPG 3.V right out of the box."

Kawai 100F

via this auction

"The Kawai 100F has been made to compete with Arp / Roland / Moog instruments and boy does it sound SUPERB!! It has a very good low pass filter, fat and creamy. Its resonance can be set to stun! CV outputs on the back have been inverted to accept CV input instead of CV output."

Electric Independence: Oneohtrix Point Never

"There’s no doubt Daniel Lopatin, the quiet powerhouse behind the psychedelic cosmic synth project Oneohtrix Point Never, has a strong connection with his keyboards. Like his Roland Juno-60, nicknamed “Judy.” She may not be the best in the world, but he talks about her like an old friend, and fortunately for all of us, treats her that way too.

In this episode of Electric Independence, Motherboard heads over to his home studio in Bushwick to talk with one of the leaders of the pack of the next generation of synthesizer masters, along with bands like Emeralds, Stella Om Source and Fever Ray. We also do a little pop music deconstruction – and get a peek at his awesome, charming gear.

Check out OPN at his Myspace and tumblr, and cop the just-released Everything is Working by Games, a collaboration between Daniel and his childhood friend Joel Ford."
