NAMM: Way Out Ware SynthX [ARP AXXE] for the iPad

Way Out Ware SynthX: Alpha Preview Of Amazing IPad Synthesizer (Video)

An ARP for the iPad. Way Out Ware makes the highly acclaimed ARP virtual synths, the TimewARP 2600 and KikAXXE. Check out what Jim Heintz says from 2:45 on. Also catch the addition of some of the Roger Linn Adrenalin effects (see this post for reference). Do watch this video in full. It really captures the excitement behind what the iPad has to offer. There's some great visuals of the waveforms in real time including pulse width modulation. This is going to be a "look! no hands!" iPad app.

"Gino Robair sat down with Jim during the recent NAMM show to check out SynthX - currently still in Alpha - in person. The SynthX interface makes elegant use of the iPad's touch-screen, offering graphical feedback of the audible pulse-waves in real-time, as well as X- and Y-axis expressivity. We can't wait until this thing is official."

"both inputs are panned/faded across both outputs. when potentiometer or incoming CV is positiv In 1 goes towards R out, and In 2 towards L out. when incoming CV is negative it is the other way round... so i can use it as pan module or fader or even as VCA..."

"made a mistake with the board, so i had cut some traces."

"i like this shallow sandwich technique. more front panel real estate, but that's no issue for me. BTW you can see i had to tweak it a little bit ,-P"

Reason 5 Audio Processing with ReBirth for iPad

YouTube via PeffTV | January 19, 2011 |

"The iPad audio output is routed to the line in on the workstation. Reason 5 receives the active audio input and can process the sound in real-time. This demonstration features a range of custom combinator effect devices including CycleOn for Reason 5 beta.

Combinator Effects being controlled by the Livid Instruments OHM64. Thanks Peter!"

PEARL SC-40 Programmable Synthesizer Drum Brain

via this auction

"It is not well known although i cannot understand why because it can produce and endless varienty of synthesized percussion and drum sounds, far beyond the boring Simmons-Piuuuuu.

The specs:
* The "40" means it can produce 4 sounds at once (not 40 ? no, only 4)
* Although it has 4 voices there are 8 Pad-Slots
* each Pad can be fired by a 6.3 mm -jack trigger-in OR (have a seat) .. MIDI (although it tends to hangup when fired with extensive data)
* each Pad has (if you like) an individual out or goes to the sum-out
* each Voice is made of: 1 digital Wavegenerator and Noise, 2 Bandpassfilters and 4 Envelopegenerators, see blockdiagram to the right. You can tweak the 'tone' and the 'attack'-part separately and set the balance of both.
* The 32 waveforms sound like cheap 12 bit samples with a loopphase. Some sound like sine or a chime or a gong. I put up a soundfile with all the waveforms below.
* you can store (!) 4 x 8 Banks, each with 8 Pad-Parametersets (=Sounds)"
