Daphne Oram's Oramics Post BBC Synthesizer

Oramics from Nick Street on Vimeo.

"A brief glimpse of Daphne Oram's pioneering and unique 'Oramics' synthesiser, designed in 1957 after she left the legendary BBC Radiophonic Workshop to pursue the project.

The machine, recently acquired by Goldsmiths College, is now in the hands of The Science Museum in London and is currently being restored. It hasn't been performed since the 1970s.

For more information on Daphne Oram and her machine check out daphneoram.org"

55 No Sequencer Sequence

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Mar 21, 2011

"In this video I try to see if I can make a sequence without actually using a sequencer. So I put three square wave oscillators into a quantizer and let the quantizer trigger the sound of the patch. The three oscillators first run out of sync and then get synced to see how that affects the sequence. The result is very interesting and ever changing. Adding modulation furthers the experience."

New! Skychord King Capitol Punishment SleepDrone3 Synth

via Big City Music on eBay

"The Sleepdrone3 is the scaled down little brother to the Sleepdrone5 and is mesmerizeingly simple to use. The Sleepdrone3 has 3 square wave oscillators, a 3 channel volume mixer, and an on off control for each.

Please note: This unit requires a standard 9 volt DC wall wart with a negative(-) center (not included)."

A test of my "dozen LFO" max patch, complete with MIDI learn (although that part is not really demoed in this)

Note I'm still only using simpler and Max, no Max for Live or Sampler. I am using the grain delay too."

"Famous Tinky-Winky-Acid-Patterns in beaver style part2 - unmasteredovermixed (TM)

Guess the famous pattern which was used on the x0xi0 - you should be able to guess it around 04:30

This is 11m one single pattern, so consider it as boring and just a demonstration of the incredible capabilities of the x0xi0-mod sounds, especially the overdrive mod. I do especially like how it's crying at 10:00 ++

I did this at the end of last year but was never really happy with it. On one hand I had a take2 on my todo-list for 16 weeks now and its time to scratch stuff - on the other hand I felt like I should upload something new here - so here we go with take1. If it hurts and your ears start bleeding because you're missing things like a compressor - just watch other glossy stuff from glossy people. Otherwise turn the volume up and undergo the sweetness of clipping!

Thanks for watching!"
