1978 Keynote Musical Instruments Stage Scorpion Ad

via Retro Synth Ads where you'll find the write-up.

"Keynote Musical Instruments Ltd. Scorpion Stage Synthesizer 1-page advertisement from page 189 in International Musician and Recording World December 1978 (UK)."

Update: Details are in:

"The Scorpion is being advertised as the first British lead line synthesizer. It is not the first British synthesizer by any means but, as far as I know, it is the only one that has been introduced to compete with the smaller stage synthesizers like the Micro Moog, Arp Axxe, etc.

It is simple to understand, easy to operate synth, aimed at the person who has been frightened off using a variable synthesizer because of his/her lack of understanding of synth jargon and technical terms (the owner's manual contains information on not only how to operate the synthesizer, but also how the different parts of the synthesizer affect the final sound.)"

Two oscillators
Programmable with eight presets
Keyboard pressure bend
Delayed modulation

You can find the full specs in this new Retro Synth Ads post.

"An interview with Todd Bailey for the Art21 blog.

Within the underground, DIY and circuit bending communities of Chicago, NYC and elsewhere Todd Bailey is the name associated with the 8bit sampler/kit WTPA (Where's The Party At) and other unique home-brew electronics. For the last decade, Bailey's activities have also found their way onto the shelves of toy stores like Target and the walls of museums like the Whitney."

"Too much delay on Juno 106, Vermona Mono Lancet and Roland TR-707"

"The lead making the arp is the Juno 106
The ultra-delayed stabs coming in at 16'' are FM8
The Vermona Mono Lancet is doing a quite light bass at 58'' (track 4 on my mixer)
the Juno 106 goes through a Electro Harmonix Cathedral reverb which is really great to play with!"

iPad Music: Playing different sounds and apps at the same time using MIDI

"Just a quick example of how to play different sounds at the same time on FL Studio Mobile HD for iPad. Two MIDI controllers, 01 MIDIxMIDI cable, 01 MIDI x USB interface and the Camera Connection Kit. Works really nice for playing live.

There is another app running in the background (SunVox) receiving MIDI data at channel 09. So it is possible to create layers using two apps, or playing different apps at the same time with different MIDI channels.

It is just the first step for using the iPad like MainStage or BrainSpawn Forte.

More about Mobile Music and MusicApps at htp://musicapps.com.br
