"This is a preview of an upcoming polychord release. In this video, we're using polychord (BETA) as a MIDI keyboard for nLog Pro (BETA) -- all on one iPad, all without any cables.

App makers are starting to work together to make all of your iOS music apps play nicely with each other through virtual MIDI.

This is still experimental, and it will be a little while until app makers optimize their apps for multitasking, and enable virtual MIDI. It's very exciting and clearly the future of iOS music making.

"Analogue sequencing was once extremely intimidating to new comers to the DIY synth community, due to the inherent complexity of assembling them. All of the off-board wiring would drive people away. The sympleSEQ does away with that, and mounts almost every control surface to an easily panel-mounted circuit board. (with included drilling template).

Everyone thinks step-sequencer when they think 'analog synths', and thus everyone wants one (or two, or eight!)

"Just trying out my new(to me) iMs-20 app. on my new.
Using an "Analogue synth." on the iPad's touch screen is a lot more fun than clicking with a mouse on my PC.
Just couldn't resist those Kaoss pads.
I'm just using the pre-set "ambient " template here, but I hope to make some of my own noises soon."

"Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849): Mazurka, Op. 6 No. 1

Chopin composed at least 69 mazurkas between 1825 and his death in 1849. These short pieces for solo piano are based on the traditional Polish dance known as the mazurka. However, Chopin transformed his mazurkas into an entirely new genre, which became known as a "Chopin genre." This piece is in the key of F-sharp minor, and was the first mazurka to be published, although two were composed earlier (published posthumously.)

This synthesized rendition and the scrolling visualization were generated from a MIDI file by our Matlab synthesizer. This rendition is significant, because it achieves its timbre by combining three synthesis types: additive, subtractive, and sample-based. While the additive and subtractive voices are completely synthesized from scratch, we also added recorded samples of an upright piano (sample-based synthesis) into the mix. The sample bank consist of a recording of each of the 88 keys played in isolation."
