NMG2 Open Source Editor - Nord Modular G2

via brunov on electro-music.com where you can follow progress.

First screen: "After a a lot of blood sweat and tears, especially tears, the software is now in a state that you can make a simple patch interactively over the usb interface. Here is a screenshot of the result and the patch when the clavia software is opened. I'll put the source code up when over the weekend when i cleaned it up a bit, but in ths stage it's only interesting for developers.

There remains a lot of work making alle the modules, with alle the little knobs and buttons. I just auto generated the modules you see in the picture, not much to look at. So maybe if we have a long winter like they have in Sweden i'll have time to make something that approaches the clava software modules.

But I'll concentrate on adding/deleting/moving/copying cables and patches and so on first and maybe do something with the volume indicators. I don't know how far I'll take this, but so far it's going well, messages and so on seem well structured and logical. Still al lot of unkowns though."

Middle: "The last week I've been working on the graphics and learning a few new things to make it all look a bit better, you can see a picture of a few modules that are more or less ready, and I’ve been spending a lot of time designing the object structure. I think that's very important to make it flexible and adaptable, for example if someone wants to change to graphics he doesn't have to rewrite all the software.

So my next goal is to make a few more modules ready and to do some patching with it. Then I’ll find out where all the bugs are..."

Bottom: "The graphic's part turns out to be the most difficult, because of the layers ( a layer modules the a layer controls and then the cables on top) and the large amount of controls and it all has to perform reasonably quickly of course."

Pretty awesome. I'd love to see an editor for the original NM and the G2 on the iPad.

Roland Jupiter-8: JP lead and Res Bass, by Danielle

YouTube Uploaded by TheSynthFreq on Sep 9, 2011

"Here is a few new sounds made on Jupiter-8. :)

Patches:
Res Bass: I use VCO-2's 16' and 8' setting to create an octave difference from VCO-1. Then add some filter frequency variations and of course Resonance. I am running the Jupiter-8s arp set to range: 2, mode: up. Effects added: Delay. The arp is added for variation and to hold the patch so that live edits can be heard. On the Jupiter-8, the 'Hold" function either holds the arp or just the sound, so that editing is easier. PWM is also used in the LFO mode and manual mode with the pulse width open at zero and very narrow as the slider is moved towards 10. HPF is used as well.

JP Lead: this is warm lead patch with a brassy sound to it. I add delay to it as well for interest.
JP is set to: Port. On, set to 2.
Assign mode: Solo
With the lead sound I just play whatever comes to mind, to show different durations of notes and how they sound played at different speeds. Don't mind my random playing. lol

Please enjoy

:) Danielle and Jupiter-8"
