Moog Modular V2 Controller for iPad

Note: links to listings are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated. "The Moog Modular Controller is a MIDI controller app for the Arturia Moog modular V2 virtual instrument.
It uses the wireless MIDI possibilities of the IOS CoreAudio framework.
On the VST side, the wireless MIDI is enabled with:
OSX -> Build-in Wireless MIDI
Windows -> rptMIDI (http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/rtpMIDI.html)

To start using the app, the Arturia Moog Modular application needs to learn all MIDI controller messages.
This can be done by enabling the MIDI learn option. Then, after selecting a knob in de Moog Modular it will recognize the incoming messages. Note, these messages are all NRPN messages.
Als have a look at the manual of the Arturia Moog Modular V2 and your OSX and/or Windows manual.
Keep turning those knobs!!!"

iPads on eBay

This is interesting. One complaint about software synths hosted on PCs is the lack of physical knobs and sliders. Using a mouse to edit can be a bit detached. One complaint about the iPad is it may not have the processing power to smoothly run more advanced synths. Also from a developer's perspective the PC market is still significantly larger so there's more money to be made going that route. A dedicated iPad app for a PC hosted software synth bridges that gap. Spectrasonics has dedicated apps for Omnisphere for example. It would be great to see more of this.

Pittsburgh Modular M3

via Chris Lehfeldt on Facebook

"The beauty of the M3 is in its simplicity. 3 sections. One is a passive mult and the other two are 2 channel unity mixers with 2 outputs so they can act as a mixer, buffer, mult, or mixer and mult. 4hp, $59. In production now and shipping 7/1."

"Emu Emulator III. The KING of vintage samplers next to the Fairlight and Synclavier. Cost over $10,000 originally. Night and day difference with the sound you get out of this thing vs a digital computer sampler. It's really that amazing. Nothing sounds like the EIII and it gives you some great warmth through the analog filters. Considering what an Sp1200 goes for these days and the loads of features you get with an eiii this is a great deal..."
